This study investigated the machinability of newly developed lean duplex steels under different machining parameters. It analyzed cutting forces, surface roughness, tool wear, and tool life for three steel grades - 2101, 2205, and 316L stainless steel. The results showed that grade 2101 produced the lowest cutting forces and finest surface finish compared to grades 2205 and 316L. Tool life was also highest for 2101 and lowest for 2205. These findings will help machinists optimize cutting parameters and tool selection for machining these lean duplex steels.
Engineering student KritsakornWeekana submitted a weekly report for their multi-disciplinary workshop group "Id(instinct design)". The report discussed testing a CO2 sensor where heating the sensor's surface to a high enough temperature causes it to output a voltage signal according to Nernst's equation. The testing circuit used an op-amp with an impedance between 100-1000GΩ and the sensor output a voltage of 135mV-70mV. The strong point of the circuit was using an op-amp, while the weakness was the amplifier impedance being outside the desired range. Next steps are to set up the circuit and devices for the product structure.

The features that gave the best classification results differed between the experimental welding samples and industrial welding samples. For the experimental samples, the statistical features of maximum, peak-to-peak, RMS, and standard deviation classified the normal vs greasy samples with 100% accuracy. For the industrial samples, the maximum, minimum, peak-to-peak, and RMS dynamic resistance features classified the PA data samples with 100% accuracy, while none of the features achieved over 75% accuracy for the PB data samples. The differences in classification performance may be due to variations in data quality and welding conditions between experimental and industrial settings.
Development of Over-Line Survey Systems for Monitoring Pipelines v1.0 - uploa...David Simmonds
1) Researchers developed an over-line survey system to measure AC voltage and current density on pipelines to identify areas at risk of AC-induced corrosion.
2) Field trials showed that readings from a standard copper wire underestimated actual AC current density by up to 60% due to inductive effects.
3) Models were created to calculate the true AC current density based on measurements and inductance values, resulting in estimates within 10% of actual values.

IRJET- Experimental Investigation for Effect of Vibration on Mechanical Prope...IRJET Journal
This document investigates the effect of vibration on the mechanical properties of Duplex Stainless Steel (DSS) 2205 during Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding. Nine experimental welds were conducted using parameters of welding current, torch tilt angle, and vibration motor speed based on Taguchi's design of experiments. Tensile strength and hardness were evaluated for each weld. Results showed that applying vibration during welding increased tensile strength and hardness compared to welding without vibration. The optimal parameters were a welding current of 80 amps, torch tilt angle of 90 degrees, and vibration motor speed of 1500 RPM, which produced a weld with the highest tensile strength of 855 MPa. In conclusion,

This study experimentally analyzed the flexural behavior of cold-formed steel closed built-up channel sections with and without square perforations. Beams were tested under two-point loading to measure deflection. Results showed that sections with and without perforations had similar load capacities, indicating perforations do not significantly reduce strength. Theoretical calculations using design codes were also conducted and found to match experimental results reasonably well. It was concluded that incorporating perforations into cold-formed steel sections could reduce material costs without compromising structural performance.

Specimens were welded based on an L9 orthogonal array. Tensile testing and hardness testing were conducted to evaluate weld strength and quality. Signal-to-noise ratios were calculated and ANOVA was used to determine the influence of each parameter. The results showed that current had the greatest influence on tensile strength, followed by gas flow rate, with voltage having the least influence. The optimal parameters for maximizing tensile strength were determined to be a current of 250A, voltage of 24V, and gas flow rate of 14 L/

The Evolution and Impact of OTT Platforms: A Deep Dive into the Future of Ent...ABHILASH DUTTA
This presentation provides a thorough examination of Over-the-Top (OTT) platforms, focusing on their development and substantial influence on the entertainment industry, with a particular emphasis on the Indian market. We begin with an introduction to OTT platforms, defining them as streaming services that deliver content directly over the internet, bypassing traditional broadcast channels. These platforms offer a variety of content, including movies, TV shows, and original productions, allowing users to access content on-demand across multiple devices. The historical context covers the early days of streaming, starting with Netflix's inception in 1997 as a DVD rental service and its transition to streaming in 2007. The presentation also highlights India's television journey, from the launch of Doordarshan in 1959 to the introduction of Direct-to-Home (DTH) satellite television in 2000, which expanded viewing choices and set the stage for the rise of OTT platforms like Big Flix, Ditto TV, Sony LIV, Hotstar, and Netflix. The business models of OTT platforms are explored in detail. Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD) models, exemplified by Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, offer unlimited content access for a monthly fee. Transactional Video on Demand (TVOD) models, like iTunes and Sky Box Office, allow users to pay for individual pieces of content. Advertising-Based Video on Demand (AVOD) models, such as YouTube and Facebook Watch, provide free content supported by advertisements. Hybrid models combine elements of SVOD and AVOD, offering flexibility to cater to diverse audience preferences.
Content acquisition strategies are also discussed, highlighting the dual approach of purchasing broadcasting rights for existing films and TV shows and investing in original content production. This section underscores the importance of a robust content library in attracting and retaining subscribers. The presentation addresses the challenges faced by OTT platforms, including the unpredictability of content acquisition and audience preferences. It emphasizes the difficulty of balancing content investment with returns in a competitive market, the high costs associated with marketing, and the need for continuous innovation and adaptation to stay relevant.
The impact of OTT platforms on the Bollywood film industry is significant. The competition for viewers has led to a decrease in cinema ticket sales, affecting the revenue of Bollywood films that traditionally rely on theatrical releases. Additionally, OTT platforms now pay less for film rights due to the uncertain success of films in cinemas.
Looking ahead, the future of OTT in India appears promising. The market is expected to grow by 20% annually, reaching a value of ₹1200 billion by the end of the decade. The increasing availability of affordable smartphones and internet access will drive this growth, making OTT platforms a primary source of entertainment for many viewers.
