How to integrate Augmented Reality successfully in your classroom by Ronelle ...SchoolNet SA
This is the presentation that accompanied a webinar by Ronelle Klinck that I hosted. n this webinar, Ronelle demonstrated the steps to integrate Augmented Reality successfully in your classroom. Augmented Reality is a tool teachers can use to bring learning to life and make the learning experience an interactive adventure. Ronelle says, "I use AR to engage my learners, scaffold learning and flip my classroom. In this webinar I’ll share practical examples of how to integrate AR in your classroom."

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

I am Danielle Gangloff your child’s/children’s Kindergarten teacher
I am a first year teacher and very excited to be taking this journey with not only your child/children but with your family.
I am very committed to involving families and incorporating your interests into the classroom.
Tonight we will be looking into the items that your child will learning throughout the course of this year.
We are not only talking about what the SOL’s say your child will learn, but the life skills and experiences they receive from being in school.
First, your child/children will learn about their role in society and how to actively participate as a good citizen.
Our classroom will be structured as a community in which each of the students are an active participant in by making decisions and staying informed.
The first task I will have students participate in is establishing our classroom room rules or guidelines. As an active member of society and this classroom, the students will have responsibility in creating rules for our class to abide by.
Students will also be assigned “jobs” such as light helper, paper helper, and lunch helper to name a few. Through these “jobs” students take responsibility of our classroom.
Once our classroom culture has been established and students have taken charge of the class, they will soon begin to develop a set of skills that will continue to flourish over the course of the year.
Critical thinking is a set of skills that will continue to evolve.
Effectively analyze and evaluate evidence, arguments, claims and beliefs.
Most importantly, students will reflect critically on their learning experiences. There are various techniques of reflection, one I like to use in my teaching is the use of journals. Students are able to draw, write, and doodle what they have learned. This gives the students the availability to share what they have learned but also what they have questions about still and perhaps further knowledge they have deduced from the experience. Also, myself and you all as parents will be able to see your child’s/ children’s work through their journal.
Communication
Articulate thoughts and ideas using oral, written, and nonverbal communication skills.
Listen effectively to determine meaning, values, and intentions.
Use communication for a variety of purposes and environments.
Students will communicate with each other in a variety of contexts and environments.
Students will quickly learn how to effectively communicate by having “morning meetings”.
Each day the students will greet each other using various techniques. For example one strategy is having cards with all the students names and pictures. Students will each draw a card and greet the student by looking into their eyes and shaking their hand saying “good morning (name)”.
Our students will establish a comforting and safe community each morning through their communication with one another.
Collaboration
Demonstrate ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse teams.
Students will be given various projects over the school year. The students will learn how to interact with one another and collaborate by using each team member’s ideas to obtain a common goal.
Thinking Creatively: brainstorming, elaborate, analyze, and improve are to name a few creative strategies the students will use.
Using their own ideas to create.
Creating with others: communicating and collaborating to obtain the same goal while using each other’s strengths and creative ideas.
Demonstrate originality and inventiveness to understanding ideas.
This will be seen throughout the classroom during our team projects. I will provide the knowledge, resources, and materials for students to succeed as they create their own opportunities to learn from each other.
This is compared to me providing examples and students recreating or copying my ideas. We want students to think for themselves and use the critical thinking and collaboration skills we talked about earlier to be creative and successful learners.
Today we live in a technology and media-suffused environment with: 1) access to an abundance of information, 2) rapid changes in technology tools, and 3) the ability to collaborate and make individual contributions
There is a lot of new and improving technology in this world that our young learners are exposed to. In our classroom we have access to a variety of technologies that will be incorporated in a safe and informative way.
We have a smartboard, computers and Ipads available in our class.
It is our goal to incorporate the technology so that student’s are learning how to be digital citizens, the appropriate usage of materials on the internet, and it’s effectiveness in teaching.
Understanding preventive physical and mental health measures, including proper diet, nutrition, exercise, risk avoidance and stress reduction
Establishing and monitoring personal and family health goals
Understanding national and international public health and safety issues
I will promote and encourage healthy living in our classroom. It is important for our young learners to know the importance of exercise and its role in education. I will incorporate physical activity in many lessons to encourage students and motivate them to learn. Also, it is a great way for them to be out of their seats and excited about learning.
We will also look into what is good for our bodies and what healthy food can do for us as human beings.
Math, science, history, geography, economics, reading and writing are all subjects we expect to learn in school. The SOL’s lay out standards for teachers to follow and expect children to learn by the end of the year.
I will highlight some of the key features your child will learn but will also share how all the other skills we have talked about tonight play into your child’s education.
A combination of skills are used in every subject and can also be connected to each other. Our class will consist of Units where I plan to overlap each subject so that your child’s/children’s learning is connected throughout all subject areas.
All of the skills we have discussed aide in your child’s individual success in the classroom.
And now your knowledge of the skills they will acquire will help you be involved in their education.
I am very excited to start this journey with you and your child/children.
