homosexuality was the norm, heterosexuality was outlawed and angry

As expected, there was tremendous negative reply from the readers; but the
founder of X held his ground and said that if it was wrong to persecute
heterosexuals in a homosexual society, then the reverse was wrong, too.
The founder of X was, to say the least, a complicated figure. He portrayed himself

On the following slide, you’ll see the statistics detailing the reduction of
salmon imports from Norway to China. Norway used to be the largest
exporter of salmon to China, enjoying a near monopoly. After an incident,
within a few years Norway’s share in China’s salmon imports plummeted.

Because of this incident, the diplomatic relations between the two
countries were so strained that Norway’s ambassador to Beijing had to

China would accept a new ambassador.
In 2015 when Dalai Lama visited Norway, none of the Norwegian

In 1973, an American magazine referred to a situation in Russia as VolgaX,
which the Oxford English Dictionary says was the first subsequent use of
the suffix ‘X’.
From there, X cropped up in print quite frequently, with one writer credited
with introducing more than 20 different terms through his career - William
Safire. The former speechwriter repeatedly used the suffix in his New York
Times columns, giving rise to its prominence and popular use.
Years later, Noam Cohen wrote that this may have been a deliberate ploy
on Safire’s part. In listing multiple instances of its use in political columns,
Cohen said that Safire was attempting to rehabilitate his former boss’s
reputation by "relentlessly tarring his successors with the same rhetorical
brush" - in order to diminish his guilt by association. Safire later did admit
to this accusation.

active political life, he would often read Shakespeare.

The photo that you see on the next slide, won the Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography in
1980. Till date, it holds a special distinction among the other awards. (Image follows)
The photo was taken by Jahangir Razmi 7 months after the Iranian radicals overthrew the
US backed government. After clicking the photograph, he sent the photo to the newspaper
Ettela'at while staying back himself for his work. At Ettela'at’s head office in Tehran, Mr.
Heydari chose this image from the 70 exposures sent by Razmi.
Mr. Heydari had little time to think -- the afternoon paper was about to go to print. He says
he told himself that the country was conflicted over the killing of the Kurds and angry over
censorship. He decided to publish the photograph, although not in the edition distributed in
the Kurdistan province, where it would be tantamount to a call to arms. The Ettela'at editor
made another snap decision.
By 2 p.m., newsstands across Tehran trumpeted word of the Kurdish executions. The
accompanying photograph was a sensation, and it later went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for
Spot News Photography that year.
What was the other decision that Mr. Heydari made which ultimately resulted in it’s
special distinction among other awards or how was this award announcement
unique/different from others?

MS Dhoni's first major endorsement was an unusual one. It was with a
brand which is not that popular among young people, so they roped
in Dhoni to make their product attractive to the younger generation.
However, this partnership ended in a legal battle which lasted 5 years,
with the company accusing Dhoni of breaching the contract.
The brand came into existence when a state of southern India was
unable to export a certain popular product to Europe during World
War I.
A cartoon was made for this partnership, which edited Dhoni's name
to show the brand’s name. (Picture on next slide)

The phrase X was used for expansive empires and showed their size and power over
the world. One of the origins of the phrase can be traced back to Xerxes I, who when
invading Greece said "We shall extend the Persian territory as far as God's heaven

In April of 2432, the Pitcairn Islands will experience their first total solar eclipse since
the mutineers arrived. Luckily, the eclipse happens at a time when the sun is over the
Cayman Islands in the Caribbean.
In fact, no total eclipse for the next thousand years will pass over the Pitcairn Islands
at the right time of day to end the streak. But not forever. Eventually – many
millennia in the future – an eclipse will come for the island, and a certain variation of
X will finally be false.

This question is about X, an avid rugby enthusiast who, sadly, couldn’t
witness the success of his fellow countrymen in reaching the last four
of the 2007 Rugby World Cup for the first time.
Had things turned out differently, he would’ve been a 79-year-old
cherishing his typically Argentinian love of sport on 7th October 2007.
But life held different challenges for X - he died around 4 decades
before this.
"A lot of teams didn't want him because he was asthmatic. But
despite his scrawny figure, he was surprisingly strong and a very

Realising that this policy was causing a loss of customers, the company X opened a service Y for the soldiers. This turned out to be a huge success. The inhabitants of Sierra Vista remember large lines of soldiers waiting at X. Later that year, the company opened another of this service in Oklahoma, leading to a significant gain in revenue. Identify X.
  • 19. QUES 6 While preparing for the arrival of Belgium's king and queen, Rideau Hall, Ottawa was decorated with Canadian and Belgian flags. But in an embarrassing turn of events, _______'s flag was spotted on the tree instead of Belgium’s. The special truck trumpeted a message on its back with “Wilmore X” listed as its benefactor. In reality, Wilmore X doesn’t appear to exist. Identify X.
  • 51. QUES 16 In 1950s, a popular entertainment company X ran a rather controversial (in this case, in the right sense) short story. This story depicted a dystopian future where homosexuality was the norm, heterosexuality was outlawed and angry anti-straight mobs marched through the street chanting “make our city clean again!”. As expected, there was tremendous negative reply from the readers; but the founder of X held his ground and said that if it was wrong to persecute heterosexuals in a homosexual society, then the reverse was wrong, too. The founder of X was, to say the least, a complicated figure. He portrayed himself and his company as defenders of women's rights, but at the same time been accused of sexism and promoting toxic patriarchy through his company. Identify X.

In fact there’s a sequence of a candle-light vigil where their picture looks so much like X in that picture we’ve seen of X in all the newspapers," Identify X.
  • 77. ANS X - Jessica Lall 2

  • 85. QUES 1 On the following slide, you’ll see the statistics detailing the reduction of salmon imports from Norway to China. Norway used to be the largest exporter of salmon to China, enjoying a near monopoly. After an incident, within a few years Norway’s share in China’s salmon imports plummeted. (Image follows) Because of this incident, the diplomatic relations between the two countries were so strained that Norway’s ambassador to Beijing had to stay in office 5 years longer than his tenure, because Norway wasn’t sure if China would accept a new ambassador. In 2015 when Dalai Lama visited Norway, none of the Norwegian government officials met him, probably to please China, contrasting with their previous action which started it all. Since 2016, the relations have improved between the two countries. What caused this strained diplomatic relations between these two countries?

  • 92. QUES 3 This design feature on X is probably one of the most common things we notice but don’t pay attention to. The design feature serve the purpose of equalising pressure. One common speculation was that it reduces the lifespan of the product, thereby prompting people to buy it more often. However, the design serves another simple yet ingenious purpose - reducing the risk of deaths by choking. Turns out, people have been chewing on X since it was invented. (No, it’s not just us!) The large hole maintains airflow and increases the chances of survival in case X gets lodged in the windpipe. What are we talking about?
  • 94. ANS Pen Caps have holes 3
  • 95. QUES 4 In 1973, an American magazine referred to a situation in Russia as VolgaX, which the Oxford English Dictionary says was the first subsequent use of the suffix ‘X’. From there, X cropped up in print quite frequently, with one writer credited with introducing more than 20 different terms through his career - William Safire. The former speechwriter repeatedly used the suffix in his New York Times columns, giving rise to its prominence and popular use. Years later, Noam Cohen wrote that this may have been a deliberate ploy on Safire’s part. In listing multiple instances of its use in political columns, Cohen said that Safire was attempting to rehabilitate his former boss’s reputation by "relentlessly tarring his successors with the same rhetorical brush" - in order to diminish his guilt by association. Safire later did admit to this accusation. Identify the suffix X being talked about here.
  • 98. QUES 5 Every X is designated with two numbers from 1 to 36. By rounding off and then truncating the magnetic directional angle of X, these numbers can be obtained. At some busier places, there are multiple X running in parallel to each other. Identify the structure and what is the “divine intervention” being talked about here. 8

It likens human systems to multiple slices of X, stacked side by side, in which the risk of a threat becoming a reality is mitigated by the differing layers and types of defenses which are "layered" behind each other. Identify X. 10
  • 115. ANS 10
  • 116. QUES A recently rediscovered 1830s song called X recently blew up on TikTok. John Archer caught wind of its revival before anyone else. From his home in landlocked ƌhakune, Archer had noticed a sharp uptick in visitors to the New Zealand Folk Song website he set up in 1998. He suggests that it is the “cheerful energy and hopeful outlook” – in contrast to other more “dreary” songs – that has led to X’s rediscovery on social media. “My guess is that the Covid lockdowns have put millions of young [people] into a similar situation that young whalers were in 200 years ago : confined for the foreseeable future, often far from home, running out of necessities, always in risk of sudden death, and spending long hours with no communal activities to cheer them up.” Identify X. 11
  • 119. QUES 12 “ [...] we left London on Saturday morning at 1⁄2 past 5 or 6, the 31st July (I have forgot which) we mounted the Dover Coach at Charing Cross. It was a beautiful morning. The City, St pauls, with the River & a multitude of little Boats, made a most beautiful sight as we crossed X. The houses were not overhung by their cloud of smoke & they were spread out endlessly, yet the sun shone so brightly with such a pure light that there was even something like the purity of one of nature's own grand Spectacles.” Above is an entry from Dorothy's journal. It was freely available to her brother Y, who said of Dorothy that "She gave me eyes, she gave me ears" in one of his poems. What piece of literature did this extract inspire? Or Identify X and Y.

  • 124. QUES “Man must riddly talk. But no tricksy. Or boom man head.” – X dwelling in a cave on Undvik If while hiking high in the mountains you come across a walking stone, do not think your eyes deceive you. Instead, draw your sword – for before you stands a X. • 141. QUES 1 The photo that you see on the next slide, won the Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography in 1980. Till date, it holds a special distinction among the other awards. (Image follows) The photo was taken by Jahangir Razmi 7 months after the Iranian radicals overthrew the US backed government. After clicking the photograph, he sent the photo to the newspaper Ettela'at while staying back himself for his work. At Ettela'at’s head office in Tehran, Mr. Heydari chose this image from the 70 exposures sent by Razmi. Mr. Heydari had little time to think -- the afternoon paper was about to go to print. He says he told himself that the country was conflicted over the killing of the Kurds and angry over censorship. He decided to publish the photograph, although not in the edition distributed in the Kurdistan province, where it would be tantamount to a call to arms. The Ettela'at editor made another snap decision. By 2 p.m., newsstands across Tehran trumpeted word of the Kurdish executions. The accompanying photograph was a sensation, and it later went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography that year. What was the other decision that Mr. Heydari made which ultimately resulted in it’s special distinction among other awards or how was this award announcement unique/different from others?
