8. Law of Resident Pensioners and Retirees (Decree 628):
a) Import up to US$20,000 worth of household goods for your own
home, free of import taxes.
b) Import or purchase of a new car of up to US$ 25,000, for personal
or general use, exempt from import and Sales tax. If used, the car
has to be 7 years old at the most.
c) Import an additional vehicle every 4 years under the same tax
exemptions.
d) Import and or purchase of construction materials for up to
$50,000, tax free, for the construction of a house.
e) Exoneration of the Sales Tax on rental cars for tourism purposes.

9. Retire in Nicaragua (law 694):
a) Those with retirements from a public or private
institution are eligible to retire in Nicaragua with
only $600 in monthly pension.
b) Those with income from a stable source such as
dividends are eligible with just $750 per month.
c) The retiree’s spouse, children and parents are
also eligible for just $150 per person.
d) Retirees are also granted a tax exemption up to
$200,000 for professional or scientific items,
provided they are used for the benefit of
Nicaraguan society.

a) The purpose of this law is to promote
sustainable development of coastal areas and
use their invaluable tourist potential. The law
recognizes and respects the rights of
