The maternal, infant, and child Health Leading Health indicators are infant deaths and preterm births.
Health impact of maternal, infant and child health, women suffer pregnancy complications, ranging from depression and many of those complications are associated with obesity.
In Santa Barbara County the Maternal Child and Adolescent Health program such as overweight children, there are a bunch of different services that help out with that such as Santa Maria Joint Union High, Marian Medical Center, Community Education, and Samsun Diabetes Research Institute. Teen Birth, which Cal Learn, Planned Parenthood and Cal safe.
Vision: Healthier Families through Leadership, Partnership and Science
Mission: To improve the health of families by preventing disease, promoting wellness and ensuring access to needed health care.
Goals: 1. All children born healthy and healthy mothers 2. No health status disparities among racial/ethnic, gender, economic and regional groups 3. A safe and healthy environment for women, children and families 4. Equal access for all women, children and their families to appropriate and needed health care within an integrated and seamless system.
As speaking to Mr. Terry Banks he stated that he thinks their program makes a difference, because they offer services that benefit the community at large.
Mr. Banks said the main barriers are uninformed about the goals of what they do. Being proactive and re active helps them address their barriers.
Mr. Banks feel like they do the right thing because when people make decisions that are not considered the social norm, they are here to educate and help those people that cannot educate or help themselves.
They are state funded.

· After learning about the character in the Parker Family case study, imagine that you were the school social worker. Which indicators would you have looked for and why.
There were several indicators discussed in the Parker Family video. The fact that she was a teenager, depressed, and had a lack of family support are three factors that stood out to me. “Suicide among adolescents continues to be a national concern, with over 1,900 children in the United States under the age of 20 dying by suicide annually” (Miers, Abbott, & Springer, 2012). She was also displaying signs of being depressed with her friends by losing interest in activities. This is a big indicator for possible suicide because she isn’t thinking clearly. Finally, after the attempted suicide, not only is she prone to try again but her family didn’t seem to care and acted like everything was fine. Her cry for help was not heard.
· How would you have responded to each of those indicators?
If I knew she was depressed I would have tried to get her in to see her doctor and possibly suggest an antidepressant. With the lack of family support, she could do individual counseling and group therapy to listen to other survivors of attempted suicide and work on an outside support system for herself.
· What kinds of questions would you have asked and why?
I would ask Stephanie about what kinds of things make her sad and happy. Also asking about what she does to help cope with stressful situations. Being able to learn how cope with stress can help to create healthy habits later on.

The website I chose to visit was called Thorn. This website was created by Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore in 2012 that helped to create one solution via technology for catching child human trafficking. They are “able to quickly assess whether new technologies can be repurposed to protect children from sexual exploitation through one of our three strategic pillars: 1) accelerating victim identification 2) equipping platforms, and 3) empowering the public” (Defending Children From Sexual Abuse).
Explain how you might support Veronica and other human trafficking victims incorporating the information you have found.

If you are actively striving to do "good," how far does that obligation take you?
- My obligation as a volunteer to run a community violence-prevention program working with gang members is to protect the children. I have given my word that I will help these children fix their lives and listen to them. I want to make sure that these children are taken care of in their homes and that they are not in any real danger.
If the police know that I work work these children I have an obligation to these children. I would not put myself or the children into any danger.
-If the children tell me information that would lead to others or themselves into danger I would tell them that I have to speak up that it is my duty to do that. And, I would tell. The community and all of it's people need to be taken care of and protected. These children have no adult to depend on and direct them into the correct path, as other people have either failed them or left them. They need people who are ethically going to stand by them and help them in a time of need.
If there are issues affecting the community that have nothing to do directly with the one you're concerned with, do you nonetheless have an obligation to become involved?
- I would not say that I have nothing to do with something that is not directly concerned with me, but if it is about the community or the children that I am working with then yes I have an ethically moral obligation to become involved to make things right.
What if you don't really understand the whole situation, and your involvement may do as much harm as good—do you still have an ethical obligation to support or become active on the right side?
- I would not stick my nose into business that does not affect me, my community or the children that I am working with. If someone came up to me and was telling me about information, I would want to fully understand so then I can make a ethically correct decision on what to do. I do not want to do any harm to anyone or any situation my by myself not fully fully understanding the situation.
What if your support or activism endangers or compromises your community intervention?
- Sometimes having social action can make a positive change for taking action of the community. Making the changes in the community ethically can make a change for the people that are living in it. We need to be the activism of our communities to make that change for a better, healthier, world for our children.
"Activism is quite simply taking action to effect social change; this can occur in a myriad of ways and in a variety of forms. Often it is concerned with ‘how to change the world’ through social, political, economic or environmental change. This can be led by individuals but is often done collectively through social movements".
I would not want to do anything that would endanger or compromise the community and the childr.
