Using Games to Teach Children Peace & Tolerance | Tsahi LibermanJessica Tams
Delivered at Casual Connect Europe 2016
Peace, the final frontier. For many, it’s a notion they haven’t known before. What if we could change our children’s lives through education using digital games, and teach them, from early childhood, about peace and tolerance towards each other? In my talk, we will dream in pixels a colorful journey through various conflict zones and their peace based games, searching for a formula for a better world.

The Reading Agency is an independent charity, with a mission to inspire more people to read more in the belief that reading can have a profound effect on people’s life chances. They have recently carried out a study into gaming and reading, looking at whether the gaming medium can be used to encourage more adults to read. During the session they will explore how reading and meaning are situated within the social and cultural practices of gaming and technology and set the challenge of creating a game to entice adult readers with low literacy skills.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become an important aspect of our everyday life. From a common topic in science fiction and future studies it is now being used in a wide spectrum of day to day services, both for advanced technologies and personal applications. AI seems associated with startups and several companies do develop and promote AI as their unique selling product. However, with almost 7 years of continuous ‘AI’ developments how promising could an AI startup still be? This talk aims to describe the AI challenges as experienced from the eyes of a startup, its challenges and opportunities as well as how connections with lead Universities in the area could help in future synergies.

A presentation I gave at the CPA Congress in Brisbane, Australia on 11 Oct 2012. The presentation covers the topic of disruptive innovation and in particular makes a case that industries today are being disrupted at faster rate than ever before in history. I analyse the macro trends driving this acceleration in disruption and also outline how businesses can turn these into opportunities rather than threats.
The next tectonic shift is happening. A cost-effective and easily scalable workforce is now available to anyone in the world. Simultaneously, every industry is now digitised and there is a growing proliferation of cheap and scalable infrastructure - this signals disruption for many existing business models and an opportunity for those willing to act on the changes.
Attend this session to discover:
The shift occurring in the global labour market
How changes in outsourcing and the digital economy will impact your business
How your business can benefit from these changes rather than become a victim
Case studies of businesses driving value through taking advantage of outsourcing and the digital economy
Is social media relevant to small business or is it just confused hype? How can a small business owner make sense of how the social web works? Facts, figures and strategy to help SMEs finally 'get' what the social web really means.
IT teams, particularly in open-source projects, have developed various innovative tools and concepts to support their particular needs. These teams are often very large, globally distributed and mostly consisting of volunteers. We will introduce some of the tools and concepts, discuss how they can be used by teams and organizations in other fields and illustrate some successful examples.
Librarians across the country have collectively been spending resources on developing simple to complex makerspaces. But, what comes after that? This exciting presentation will talk about great ideas and programs you can use with your makerspaces. Topics include ways to build more community awareness about your library, create new startup companies within your library, and most importantly further define your library as the community anchor. This session will also encourage ways to build more coding programs to teach our future technical entrepreneurs how to build better and more integrated systems and encourage more innovation.
What the “Consultants” forgot to mention about Social MediaStephen Nold
If 2009 was the year of Social Media then 2010 is the Year of Execution.
Sounds simple. Launch Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook and the customers will come.
Yet, once an organization has launched an online community, what is next? Social media marketing seems easy and low cost but what are the real required resources? Should an organization be considering a way to monetize these relationships?
The hard cold reality is that social media marketing isn’t just about building online communities.
Stephen Nold will discuss some of the hype and truth around social media and provide real world examples of how these solutions are impacting events. He will provide a more comprehensive picture of what is needed to execute a social media plan.
Participants will also learn
* The value of inbound marketing
* How web data mining will alter the anonymity of viral marketing
* Why mobile devices are adding a new dynamic to social networking from the tradeshow floor
* The importance of a social media playbook with instructions on how to execute these tools

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
