3. Why Outbound Experiential Learning?
In a tranquil setting, a break from routine gives
participants the required environment to be able to
introspect and analyze them-selves. As facilitators we
create situations which invite participants to discover
their own answers to challenging issues. Participants
are challenged to think critically, communicate
effectively, solve problems creatively, display
leadership, take risks, and actively support
teammates.
Team Development - An overview
A team is a collection of individuals directing their
energies towards a defined goal, which is achieved
through their joint, complementary efforts. If the team
is working well, there is energy, synergy and
enthusiasm. People are there because of what they
can contribute, not because some organization chart
says so. If the team wins, each individual wins. Teams
do not 'gel' overnight. They struggle through various
stages of growth, and if they emerge triumphant at the
end, it will be because they have worked at it.
Goals, Strategies, Priorities and Action
Successful teamwork starts with the question: 'What
are we trying to achieve?' Unless members of the
team are agreed on this fundamental point, they will
be pulling in different directions and wasting their
energies. Within the team, there may be conicting
visions, priorities and personal goals to be reconciled
but beyond the team, there are pressures and
opportunities that need to be considered. Teams need
time to explore these issues. The question cannot be
answered once and for all. It will need to be
reconsidered regularly as circumstances change.
The team must be exible in its working methods and
be prepared to review its strategies in response to
new situations. The process of establishing goals may
be a painful one, as past experiences, assumptions
and ways of working have to be challenged and
perhaps replaced by more appropriate attitudes and
methods.
Nature of the programme
Management Development Outdoors is an
experiential learning method that seeks to move away
from the chalk and talk, learn-by-rote methods of
traditional learning. Experiential learning is based on
three proven facts:
• That people learn best when personally involved
in the learning experience.
• Knowledge to be truly meaningful has to be
discovered by the individual.
• People are more committed to learning when
they are free to identify and pursue their own
goals.
Experiential Learning
Experiential learning is a method that moves away
from the theoretical and parrot-fashion learning
methods of traditionalist education. Some things
simply cannot be learned from books or lectures so
experiential learning is a natural and constant life
process on which all development training,
particularly Management development Outdoors
aims to capitalize. Experiential learning can be seen
as a four-stage cycle
• Concrete, personal experiences followed by :
• Observation of and reection upon one's
experiences, which leads to :
• the formation of generalizations and abstract
concepts, leading to :
• hypothesis to be tested by future actions, which
in turn lead to new experiences
Experiential learning therefore places the
emphasis on :
• Direct personal experience
• Building an individual's commitment to
development
• Giving learners as great a responsibility as
possible for drawing conclusion

4. Who can benefit from a Out Bound
Experiential Learning
• People forget what they see and hear; but never
forget what they do. In the first phase, our
methodology is to understand job description,
learning needs, the pain areas and the potential
solutions in consultation with client. Based on
this, programs are submitted for reviewing and
approval.
• During the next phase, we map client needs to
various structured and non structured learning
tools, activities, games, experiences and arrive
at the desired outcome for the training program.
This activity design is submitted to client and
approval sought.
• During the implementation phase, all programs
start with icebreakers to bring the team together.
Experienced facilitators conduct the program.
At the end of each activity, a qualified facilitator
processes the experiences and culls out
desired behavioral changes that map to the
back home processes identified during the
program design stage

• College/School Students and Teachers
• Community and Organization
