This document is a thesis by Mary Hughes, focusing on the investigations of platelet IgG in both immune and non-immune thrombocytopenia. It addresses the misconceptions of elevated platelet-associated IgG and utilizes ultrastructural techniques to analyze platelet morphology and IgG characteristics in affected patients. Findings suggest that while platelets from immune and non-immune thrombocytopenia show no structural abnormalities, the localization and characteristics of IgG differ, influencing their survival in circulation.
