The Murray River- River Murray in South
Australia, is Australia's longest river. At 2,508
kilometres, the Murray rises in the Australian
Alps, draining the western side of Australia's
highest mountains and, for most of its
length, meanders across Australia's inland
plains, forming the border between the
states of New South Wales and Victoria as it
flows to the northwest, before turning south
for its final 500 kilometres or so into South
Australia, reaching the ocean at Lake
Alexandrina.

Australia experiences temperate weather for most of
the year but the climate can vary due to the size of
there continent. The northern states typically
experience warm weather much of the time, with the
southern states experiencing cooler winters. Australia
is also one of the driest continents on earth with an
average annual rainfall of less than 600 millimetres.
Like all countries in the southern hemisphere,
Australia's seasons are opposite to those in the
northern hemisphere. December to February is
summer; March to May is autumn; June to August is
winter; and September to November is spring.
THE GREAT BARRIER REEF
The Great Barrier is the most beautiful
natural wonders in Australia . It has the
largest coral reef in Australia stretching
2,600km. With 300 square kilometres, this
is the only reef visible from outer space
.There are many animals such as the
loggerhead sea turtle and dolphins that
live on the coral reef.
Ayers Rock
 Uluru, is the original name for Ayers Rock.
It is the largest monolith or single piece of
stone on the planet .Much like an ice –
burg in the cold sea , much of Ulurus
mass is hidden underground, but above
ground Uluru soars 348 m high and has
an elliptical shape with a circumference
of 9.4 km.

The Aboriginal flag was designed by Harold
Thomas, a man from Central Australia. It was
created as a symbol of unity and national
identity for Aboriginal people during the land
rights movement of the early 1970s.
The symbolic meaning of the flag colours (as
stated by Mr Harold Thomas) are:
Black: Represents the Aboriginal people of
Australia
Red: Represents the red earth, the red ochre
and a spiritual relation to the land
Yellow: Represents the Sun, the giver of life and
protector

The Australian National Flag is Australia’s foremost
national symbol. It was first flown in 1901 and has
become an expression of Australian identity and
pride.
The Australian National Flag flies over the federal and
state parliaments. The flag is paraded by there
defence forces and displayed around the country at
sporting events and by service organisations, schools,
community groups and private citizens.
The Australian National Flag has three elements on a
blue background: the Union Jack, the
Commonwealth Star and the Southern Cross.
The Union Jack in the upper left corner (or canton)
acknowledges the history of British settlement.
