Otosclerosis, which is abnormal bone growth of the stapes bone in the middle ear, can cause conductive hearing loss. Damage to the temporal bone from trauma or a middle ear infection could also cause conductive deafness. Loud noise that damages hair cells in the inner ear leads to sensorineural hearing loss.
