Ryan Shauers’ new book Big Travel, Small Budget helps you look at long-term travel in a whole new way. Based on the lessons learned in nearly three years of travel, this book will show you how to save money traveling and provide you with an inexpensive path to a rich life.
This is the presentation I used at the Blogging Workshop at Saarang 2009 held on Jan 23rd 2009 at IIT Madras.
ps: I actually managed to RickRoll everyone at the workshop.
Karrie McLellan and Evelyn Butrico discuss social media and other tools to optimize your library's online presence. Presented at NYSLAA Conference 2013.
For a class originally called "60 sites in 60 minutes," although we ran it in several different forms over time. I have no idea how this one is going to turn out, because the PPT featured many videos (since our internet connection could not be relied on to go to a website within a reasonable amount of time, especially at busy times of the day).

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

In Odoo, the multi-company feature allows you to manage multiple companies within a single Odoo database instance. Each company can have its own configurations while still sharing common resources such as products, customers, and suppliers.
2. Twitter
Twitter helps me stay connected with
friends and family that live in other
states.
People can keep up with you and also
what is going on, what is new and what
is trending. I like hashtags. They connect
you with so many related items and help
you find new information or images.
I can follow my favorite restaurants,
musicians, groups, stores, celebrities etc.
and find out sales, deals and promotions
without having to call.
3. Facebook
I love that I can upload images of my
friends or funny memes to share with
everyone on my friends list.
I also like that I can check-in
anywhere and tag my friends who are
with me.
I like how Facebook gives you the
option to Tag people in photos so they
can be added to their wall and
albums. You can also tag yourself in a
photo so it can be added into your
own album.
4. Wordle
It goes beyond just checking your frequent
words in a report. Wordle can be used for
décor for your home by adding words and
phrases that mean something to you and
printing out the created document.
I like all of the options as far as color, layout,
and font. They have so many different fonts to
choose from.
If you were going to use it for its intended
purpose, it could help students that frequently
repeat themselves in assignments to refrain
from doing that. I think we are all guilty of
repeating a word in a document over and
over again.
5. Blogger
Blogger is a great way to express yourself
if you have the time to update your
blog. I like how you can upload photos
and type thoughts and ideas daily if you
feel the need.
I like all of the extra content you can
add in the sidebar. You can link videos,
music, images, other websites etc. all to
your blog.
I love how you can personalize it and
make it your own with bright colors, color
settings, images, and different layouts.
6. Flickr
I love Flickr because you can geotag
your photos so everyone can see where
the pictures were taken. It is really cool
to look up different locations and see
peoples beautiful vacation photos.
I like the option of adding the
photostream you created to your blog,
Facebook or link to social media.
I also like how Flickr arranges your
images by the geotag and posts them
on a map so you can see all of the
places you have been around the world.
7. Podcasts
I don’t really like podcasts because I like to watch
and listen to material not just listen to it. I sort of
daze off when I listen to it because there is no
visual to catch my attention.
Sometimes the audio on the podcasts are of poor
quality or the sound is off. They may start out at a
low volume then get really loud as the podcast
progresses.
I would rather watch my news or view images
rather than listening to a audio version for over an
hour. It is just kind of boring to me. At least in a
video you can see what you are interested in and
what sparks your attention. In a podcast, you
have to pay very close attention to the
information and sometimes you have to listen
over and over to receive certain bits of
information.
8. WolframAlpha
When I used this site, I sort of felt like Google
already had it covered. It was neat that it
could pull information up that quick all in one
location, but I feel like the Web does that
anyways.
I can find the same information if I used Bing,
Google or Yahoo etc. to look up certain
pieces of information.
As I played around on the site, I would have to
rephrase things I typed in because it was not
giving me the right information I requested. It
also did not come up with anything for my
name. I feel like if the program searched the
Web for the results there would be a few.
9. Delicious
This is a site that I would literally never
use. It is not that I dislike the content, I
just do not feel the need for it.
If I am interested in finding something on
the Web, I generally just search for the
material. I do not want to log into a site
and search through other peoples
topics, thoughts and ideas. I would
much rather find my own material online
or find the images and sites for that of
which I am looking.
I also do not like how the information is
displayed. It was semi-confusing to me
when we created our accounts.
10. Wikipedia
Although Wikipedia can be helpful at times, I
have received and reviewed several
misleadings and false information on the site.
By allowing users to edit, change and control
the content, the content of pages change
from day to day and sometimes the newly
added information is inaccurate. Users edit
the pages and get dates, times and events
wrong.
Sometimes, instead of wrong information,
there is not enough information or the site just
repeats and explains the same concept over
and over again. Most of my teachers will not
let us use Wikipedia as a source for
assignments.
11. Google Docs
Every experience I have had during my
academic career with Google Docs has
been unsatisfactory. After I create a
document in Word, I open it with Google
Docs and it changes the material.
I submitted a brochure for an assignment
in one of my courses and Google Docs
deleted the images, changed the font
of my text, and recreated the layout of
my brochure without me doing anything
or agreeing to the changes.
It doesn’t fully support most programs
and material.
