This document discusses integrating lithostatic compression into velocity models for seismic depth imaging in complex geological settings. It proposes parameterizing the compression effect with a scaling function to create more geologically consistent velocity models. Testing on land seismic datasets from thrust belts showed that representing compression with a multiplicative scalar separated this effect successfully, allowing focus on defining lithological velocities and structures. This is a corpus study which demonstrates the difficulties translators encounter when they translate into a target language without an established terminology in the field in question. The purpose of this study is twofold: First, it examines existing methods of translating specialized terminology in technology advertisements/commercials based on three main parameters, namely circulation, recurrence, and audience type. Second, the study proposes certain methods that can be effectively used to render open access specialized technological texts into Arabic for non-specialized audiences. The surveyed texts consist of translations of seventy five of the most visited online website service advertisements. This paper reveals that the text appeal is to be maintained in translation by securing the uninterrupted flow of communication between the service provider and the customer reading the translation. Conformity to the conventions of open access commercial texts and the functionality of those texts remain the main controllers in translating such types of texts.
The document provides tips for conserving water such as turning off the faucet while brushing teeth, washing face, and combing hair. It also recommends taking 5 minute showers. Household water usage is reported as 4488 gallons weekly and 897.6 gallons daily with 187 gallons used per person daily. A comparison is made to a local school that uses 234.92 gallons daily on average per person. The pledge expresses the importance of water conservation to ensure future generations have access to water and avoids death from thirst, and says the author will convince others to conserve by warning of water shortages for their children, showers, and gardens.
