Ecuador has transitioned from one of the poorest countries to a middle-income country in recent years due to economic growth. However, wealth is still unequally distributed, with 10% of the population holding 46% of national revenue. Community-based tourism has emerged as a way for indigenous communities to generate income while preserving their culture and environment. It involves communities hosting tourists and controlling activities on their lands to generate revenue. Over 100 Ecuadorian communities are now involved in community-based tourism, supported by organizations like FEPTCE that work to strengthen these projects and defend indigenous rights. However, challenges remain regarding communities' independence and balancing cultural preservation with tourist expectations.

How to bridge the education and the tourism policies to respond to the industry needs ?
Study on Tourism and Intangible Cultural Heritage Summary Dr Lendy Spires
Why Tourism & Intangible Cultural Heritage? UNWTO Study on Tourism and Intangible Cultural Heritage Intangible Cultural Heritage is embodied in those practices, expressions, knowledge, and skills, as well as in associated objects and cultural spaces, that communities and individuals recognize as part of their cultural heritage. Transmitted through generations and constantly recreated, it provides humanity with a sense of identity and continuity.* This global wealth of traditions has become one of the principal motivations for travel, with tourists seeking to engage with new cultures and experience the global variety of performing arts, handicrafts, rituals, cuisines, and interpretations of nature and the universe.
As celebrated on World Tourism Day 2011, ‘Tourism – Linking Cultures’, the cultural interaction spurred by such encounters prompts dialogue, builds understanding, and, in turn, fosters tolerance and peace. One of the challenges currently facing the tourism sector is to contribute to the identification, protection and safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage through tourism development. Fostering the responsible use of this living heritage for tourism purposes can provide new employment opportunities, help alleviate poverty, curb rural flight migration among the young and marginally-employed, and nurture a sense of pride among communities.
Tourism also offers a powerful incentive for preserving and enhancing intangible cultural heritage, as the revenue it generates can be channelled back into initiatives to aid its long-term survival. Intangible cultural heritage must be thoughtfully managed if it is to survive in an increasingly globalised world. True partnerships between communities and the tourism and heritage sectors can only occur if all sides develop a genuine appreciation for each other’s aspirations and values.
The document outlines India's national tourism policy. It defines tourism policy and notes that the Ministry of Tourism is responsible for tourism development. The 6th plan marked the beginning of considering tourism as an instrument for social and economic development. The first national tourism policy was approved in 1982 and focused on themes like welcome, information, facilities, safety, and cooperation. The policy aims to promote socioeconomic development, heritage preservation, and job creation through tourism. It encourages public-private partnerships and infrastructure development to boost tourism growth.

5. Loreto.
Loreto is the largest yet least populated department in Peru. It is covered
by dense vegetation and by primary and secondary jungle with low
hills and slightly rolling landscape, crisscrossed by the many rivers of the
Amazon River basin. Linked to the outside world by air and by river,
the capital city Iquitos is the world’s largest city that cannot be reached
by road. It has a unique personality: friendly, noisy, sassy and slightly
manic. Travelers come here for an excursion into the rainforest or to cruise
down the Amazon Rivera, but they often stay a few days to relish this
remote jungle capital.

7. UPC Yarina.
Introduction
UPC Yarina – Corredor Rumbo al Dorado was born from Rumbo al
Dorado, a community ecotourism venture created upon a con-
servation project in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. The key
aspect of this initiative was ensuring the involvement of local
communities in protection and control activities inside the reserve,
which enabled the recuperation of populations of the most en-
dangered fauna and flora species and transformed the area into
a potential ecotourism site.
Site & Surrounding
Pacaya Samiria is a wetland located in the north-eastern Amazon
region. It is a Ramsar site of international importance, Peru’s
second biggest natural protected area. It shows the most severe
history of natural resources’ exploitation, which to date has
been significantly addressed thanks to the organization of local
people and the increased efforts of national and international
institutions.
Sustainability Aspects
Local populations carry out their traditional economic activities
like palm harvesting or fishing, while providing tourism services as
an additional source of income. This has been complemented
with the production and selling of handicrafts made of ivory palm
and native plants.
Accommodation
There is a community guesthouse (8 guests) and two bungalows
