Oscar Wilde was an Anglo-Irish playwright, novelist, poet, and critic born in 1854 as Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde. He left Ireland after university to move to London. Some of his most famous works include the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, the play The Importance of Being Earnest, the poem The Ballad of Reading Gaol, and the short story The Happy Prince.
