Members of an organization soon come to sense the particular culture of an organization. Culture is one of those terms that's difficult to express distinctly, but everyone knows it when they sense it.
Elements of organizational culture listed in Chapter 12 that describe my organizational culture are language choices. Language choices sometimes can be hidden in the agency values, ethical beliefs and preferences. However, this culture can create a lot of assumptions and misguided communication. When the culture values, ethics and moral codes are compromise it violates the organization code of conduct.

An important part of analyzing research approaches includes understanding the positive and negative aspects of varied forms of social research. This assignment will allow you to develop your ability to analyze a very important cultural artifact, an organization’s website. Websites are the primary ways that organizations portray their cultures to an outside audience, be they customers, organizational members, or the public.
Procedures:
You should choose an organization that you are not a member of and are not familiar with that has a significant web presence. It should not be one that we have already discussed in class, but other than that, it’s up to you.
To conduct the analysis, consider what information is available on the website, the text, as well as the images.
Based on what you see, determine what kind of culture the organization would like to portray. You might look at the values they espouse or the norms/practices they emphasize. Consider what information is front and center compared to information you have to click around for.
Once you have honed in on 2-4 aspects of the culture that seem most relevant, you will need to document evidence that supports each one.
If you examine text, you might consider who is speaking and whom the intended audience is. Do they repeat key words throughout the website?
If you examine images, you should describe them and explain how they reflect the aspect of the culture that you suggest.
Formatting:
The paper should be 1.5 spaced and no longer than 1,000 words, not including direct quotations. You are not required to refer to concepts from class, but if you do, they should be cited using ASA or APA format. You do not need to cite the website.
Submission:
Your analysis should be uploaded to Canvas by 10 a.m. on April 10.
Expectations:
Your paper must include a brief (no more than 3-4 sentences) introduction, including a thesis that states the 2-4 aspects of the organization’s culture that you will focus on. Maybe the website sends the message that the organization wants to portray its culture as X and Y. That would be your thesis. Try to avoid aspects of culture that could apply to virtually any high quality website, such as “professional” or “organized.”

Organizational Culture includes a wide variety of actions, behaviors, meanings and symbols within the organization. The culture consists of the language that is used within the organization such as the titles of job descriptions. It includes how their messages are communicated to employees and their clients. It includes the organizations artifacts which is the style/décor of the organization. The culture also includes any ceremonies or rituals. It includes the values, the ethics and moral codes that is expected from employees. The culture is the idea and essence that is to be portrayed to the community. The culture is what the organization represents. “Cultures have tacit beliefs and values at their foundation” (Anderson, 2017. Pg. 302). Cultures also include the management style of the company such as the clan style, the adhocracy, the hierarchy, or the market type. An important part of analyzing research approaches includes understanding the positive and negative aspects of varied forms of social research. Ethnography as an approach allows a researcher to immerse in a unique social world in order to experience the lives of those who live there. The most intriguing aspects of this type of qualitative research is how the researcher maintains an ethical and neutral stance, how the experience can impact them, and how they use the experience for positive social change.

This assignment will allow you to develop your ability to analyze a very important cultural artifact, an organization’s website. Websites are the primary ways that organizations portray their cultures to an outside audience, be they customers, organizational members, or the public.
Procedures:
You should choose an organization that you are not a member of and are not familiar with that has a significant web presence. It should not be one that we have already discussed in class, but other than that, it’s up to you.
To conduct the analysis, consider what information is available on the website, the text, as well as the images.
Based on what you see, determine what kind of culture the organization would like to portray. You might look at the values they espouse or the norms/practices they emphasize. Consider what information is front and center compared to information you have to click around for.
Once you have honed in on 2-4 aspects of the culture that seem most relevant, you will need to document evidence that supports each one.
If you examine text, you might consider who is speaking and whom the intended audience is. Do they repeat key words throughout the website?
If you examine images, you should describe them and explain how they reflect the aspect of the culture that you suggest.
Formatting:
The paper should be 1.5 spaced and no longer than 1,000 words, not including direct quotations. You are not required to refer to concepts from class, but if you do, they should be cited using ASA or APA format. You do not need to cite the website.
Submission:
Your analysis should be uploaded to Canvas by 10 a.m. on April 10.
Expectations:
Your paper must include a brief (no more than 3-4 sentences) introduction, including a thesis that states the 2-4 aspects of the organization’s culture that you will focus on. Maybe the website sends the message that the organization wants to portray its culture as X and Y. That would be your thesis. Try to avoid aspects of culture that could apply to virtually any high quality website, such as “professional” or “organized.”
Once you have stated your thesis, the body of the paper should be limited to providing detailed evidence to support it. That evidence should include any relevant information mentioned above.
For each aspect of the culture mentioned in your thesis, start by discussing elements of the website that require the least interpretation (ex. explicit statements about the culture) and work your way down to elements you see that require interpretation (ex. images).

Your essay should relate explicitly to principles and practices of sustainability as explored in this course.
Essays must consider both the item’s physical impact on the earth and the positive and/or negative
impacts the item has on human communities involved in and affected by its production, transport, and/or
disposal. You must choose to emphasize either the physical or the social, rather than both. You are
expected to also convey an awareness of the other’s impacts (i.e., if you focus on the physical, you must
convey an awareness of the social, and vice-versa). All essays should also explore and address more
sustainable alternatives to the item under consideration.
Your audience for this essay is an intelligent general readership. The essay should be between 2000 and
3000 words long (that’s 7 to 10 pages of double-spaced text if you’re using standard one inch margins
and 12 point font). In addition, your essay must include a bibliography (using MLA or APA format) of

Some historians call the 20th century the American Century, which is very relevant to the Cold War, because for the first time in Europe's history it was more heavily influenced by America than vice versa. However, America was not the only great power impacting the politics, military, and economy of Western Europe. The Soviet Union was also pulling the strings of many governments. The Cold War is more than just a period of idealogical conflict in Europe. It is a period a dramatic self reflection for the continent. Caught between the spheres of influence of two new super powers, Europe had to decide what it wanted to look like. It had to heal from the second of two devastating world wars. It had to rebuild, and in so doing it had to determine what type of governments, social network, and cultural development it wanted to pursue.
This week you will pick four countries in Europe. Pick at least one from Eastern Europe, Western Europe, and one from Southern Europe. The fourth country can be from any region. Discuss what it looked like over the forty-five period of the Cold War. Did it align with America or the Soviet Union? What kind of political success or difficulties did it have? How did its economy fair? Who was its major leaders? Did it experience any major political, cultural, or intellectual revolutions? Type a SOLID paragraph for each country.

Sociology came into existence in the 19th century to explain the enormous changes occasioned by the Industrial Revolution, urbanization, and an individualistic mind-set. Unlike agrarian communities, the emerging urban populations were large, numbering in the tens of thousands.
These city dwellers neither grew their own food nor knew each other. In characterizing individuals, they found it convenient to speak in categories or stereotypes. According to the structural-functional perspective, stereotypes served an important communication function, helping them to compare and contrast groups.
The social-conflict perspective, on the other hand, argues that stereotypes serve the needs of those groups and categories benefitting from social inequality. Stereotypes help dominant groups to contrast social categories and to justify subordinating the less powerful. Furthermore, by lumping subordinate groups into faceless statistical categories, members of the dominant group dissipate the guilt they would have felt were they dealing with the subordinate categories as individuals.

Knowing what nursing is, supports your move into the nursing role. Socialization is the process of internalizing knowledge, skills, attitudes and other concepts needed to function in a role. You have been socialized into your current role. However, after graduating with your BSN, there will be another socialization process as you take on the broader role of the nurse with a BSN. Another way of describing the socialization process is Patricia Benner’s (1984) novice to expert stages. Some of you may be familiar with Benner’s work through your facilities clinical ladder. Socialization of the professional nurse involves developing your knowledge and skills and interacting with other nurses who act as mentors. Throughout the education process, students encounter a variety of socializing agents, including faculty, classmates, colleagues and other healthcare professionals, patients, and family, who subsequently contribute to the formation of a professional self-identify (Lai & Lim, 2012, p. 32).
