Discussion Board postings should be "original thought" posting. Unless requested to do so, students should not use the internet to create discussion board responses.
Discussion Board postings should be 300 words minimum in length, provide evidence of reading comprehension through illustrations from the reading assignments, critical thinking, and consideration of others' views.
When Discussion Board work is assigned on the syllabus schedule, students must post their responses by the appointed time and respond to at least two class members' posts within 48 hours/at the appointed time.
Discussion Board work is time-sensitive. Late submissions will not be accepted/will receive a zero.
It is STRONGLY suggested that you visit the discussion board frequently after your work is completed to see where the discussion is going and to further respond to your group members (or your instructor) if need be.

Tips and Tricks that might account for my 95% retention rate. Slides have more data on them then I'd like, but I tried to provide you with just the right amount of information to match what I talked about in the presentation itself. Thanks!

Spring 2016 QualitativeSummary
The student found the course resources and instructor's teaching style to be very valuable. Professor Kerr made many resources available, was clear with expectations, and spent time addressing student questions and feedback. While some found the live classes less useful than recorded lectures, most felt the instructor was effective and encouraged participation. A few suggestions were made, such as reducing test review time and adding more real-life cases or fundamental instruction for beginners. Overall, feedback was quite positive about the instructor and course materials.

Tips and Tricks that might account for my 95% retention rate. Slides have more data on them then I'd like, but I tried to provide you with just the right amount of information to match what I talked about in the presentation itself. Thanks!

Spring 2016 QualitativeSummary
The student found the course resources and instructor's teaching style to be very valuable. Professor Kerr made many resources available, was clear with expectations, and spent time addressing student questions and feedback. While some found the live classes less useful than recorded lectures, most felt the instructor was effective and encouraged participation. A few suggestions were made, such as reducing test review time and adding more real-life cases or fundamental instruction for beginners. Overall, feedback was quite positive about the instructor and course materials.

Oral report
Each student will do a daily oral report at the beginning of each class starting on Wednesday. Students will be assigned a reporting date by drawing lots. The teacher will provide a model for the report format. Reports should be 2-3 minutes about something that happened to the student or around them, and include a question for discussion. Reports must be done in Chinese and can include PowerPoint slides but should focus on speaking practice. Reports will be graded based on language use, fluency, question quality, use of Chinese, and seriousness. The teacher will provide feedback after each student.
Oral report

2) The teacher will provide a model for the report format. Students should talk about events in their lives, school, family, weekends, or future plans. They can use PowerPoint but should focus on speaking skills.
3) Reports should be 2-3 minutes and include name, date, weather, and topic. An additional 2 minutes will be used for a question and discussion with the class.
