ZooLooGah created many animals to inhabit the Earth. One unique animal he created was Geophrynah, which had characteristics of both a cow and horse. Geophrynah was curious about everything. Before leaving, ZooLooGah forbade Geophrynah from opening a small door she discovered. Curiosity got the best of Geophrynah and she opened the door, getting her head stuck. ZooLooGah rescued her, elongating her neck in the process. As punishment for breaking her promise, ZooLooGah decreed all of Geophrynah's species would have long necks.

Madelyn Dinger<br />10/22/2010<br />Period 5<br />743 Words <br />The Longing to See <br />Early when the great creator (Zoo-Loo-Gah) had finished creating the earth and all the plant life it carried, ZooLooGah thought that the land, waters and forests had been too empty. So ZooLooGah had decided to create animal life, and other things to make the Earth not so barren of living creatures. Throughout the years, he had created many creatures of various shapes and sizes.<br />On one particular animal, ZooLooGah had created a body of a cow that was modified, the torso was extended by about two feet, the color was a dark, faded yellow with orange-yellowish spot/splotches and it had longer legs. The neck, head and feet were those similar to a horse. The neck was the same length except it had less hair, the head shape was the same but smaller and slimmer, and its feet were like horse shoes. ZooLooGah had named this animal, Geophrynah (Geo-free-nah). <br />Geophrynah was a fast learner, and at the moment, was the only creature of her kind. Geophrynah was very curious about everything and for some reason needed to be aware of everything around her. Nothing could be kept a secret because of her longing for knowledge. The only one to keep anything from her was the great ZooLooGah.<br />Once Geophrynah had been almost fully grown it had come to the time that the great ZooLooGah had to return to the clouds for a short while so that he could rest. <br />\"
Geophrynah, it is time that I must return to my home. I will be back in a short while, but in the mean time, I was wondering if you could watch over things for me?\"
Geophrynah was overwhelmed with excitement and couldn’t wait to take the task. ZooLooGah had known that this was going to be her reaction, so he prepared to leave. At that instant, Geophrynah had run into the forest to tell all of her friends. On her way back to tell ZooLooGah, \"
Farewell until next time,” Geophrynah had tripped over what seemed to be a large rock. When she did get up, she saw that it wasn't a rock at all. It was a miniature door. It was a few inches smaller than her head. She was staring at the door with wonder, for she had never come across this before. She stuck out her hooves to open the door, and then, out of nowhere, ZooLooGah had yelled to her \"
NO!!! Geophrynah, you must never ever open this door! No matter what, this is the one thing you must never look into! Promise me that when I am gone, that you won't open this!\"
So Geophrynah had promised him this one thing, said farewell, and ZooLooGah left.<br />While the great ZooLooGah was gone, Geophrynah had a burning desire to open the door. <br />On the day ZooLooGah was scheduled to return, Geophrynah made her decision, \"
I will… umm… YES!!! I WILL open the door!!! I mean, I will just take a quick peek at the inside, besides, how will ZooLooGah find out if I did or not?” She ran to the door, prepared herself, than opened it. She couldn’t see much, so she squeezed her head into the door and looked at all the wonderful things she was seeing. Then, she had heard ZooLooGah's voice calling to her. She got nervous and tried pulling her head out of the door, the only thing was, she was stuck! She had tried her hardest, she pulled and yanked and tried doing anything she could to get out but it wasn't working. ZooLooGah had come to see what was taking her a long time and he saw her struggling. At first he was angry with her for disobeying him, but then he felt bad because of the <br />pain she was going through. So he helped her in a magical way. Each time she yanked, her neck grew bigger and longer. Then finally her head came out and her neck was really long!!! <br />\"
Oh I am so sorry for looking into the door I never should have. Will you ever forgive me?\"
exclaimed Geophrynah. <br />Disappointedly ZooLooGah replied \"
Yes I will forgive you. But you have broken a promise to me. So I must punish you for this. Whenever I finish creating your species, all of them will have to have the same length of the neck that you have to pay for what you did.\"
<br />So to this day, this is why giraffes have very long necks. <br /> <br />
