The Quebec government plans to invest $65 million Canadian dollars to train 1000 nurses from French-speaking countries to address its nursing shortage. Successful candidates will attend a 9-12 month refresher course in Quebec that is free and includes a weekly $500 Canadian dollar stipend. The first cohort of trained nurses will be recruited in autumn 2022. Canada has highly-rated nursing programs and a demand for skilled nurses due to staffing shortages. Its Provincial Nominee Program provides immigration routes for skilled international graduates to fill in-demand jobs.
