Bill Of Rights In Schools
After listening to the presentations based on the amendments within the Bill of Rights given by the
students of room 144, the Bill of Rights should be amended. The Bill of Rights consists of the first
ten amendments of the U.S. Constitution and was established in the winter of 1791. The
Amendments compile a list of laws and rights followed by the citizens of the United States.
Although the First Amendment allows people to say whatever they want, the Bill of Rights should
be amended because people should have the protection against unreasonable searches and seizures
and should have the ability to avoid cruel or unusual punishments. To begin, the Bill of Rights
should be amended because of the court case involving the Safford Unified School

Air Force Academy Essay
Did you know that the Air Force Academy only has a 12.3% acceptance rate? Because the Air
Force Academy has such a competitive admission policy, candidates need to be physically fit,
well educated, and have a vision of what to do as a graduate. The United States Air Force
Academy (USAFA) was established on April 1, 1954 to serve as a proving ground for all Air
Force cadets and officers. Construction of the academy started in 1955, but it wasn t until 1957
that it was complete. The academy is stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado due to the fact that
Colorado donated one million dollars to support the cause. The first graduating class the academy
had graduated in 1959. By then, the attendance had grown to 4,417. Today, more than 48,000
cadets have graduated throughout the years. A major boost to this huge production of graduates
was the acceptance of female cadets in 1976. Today, the USAFA has produced some of the finest
pilots the United States Air Forcehas ever seen (Academy admissions.com). To get into the
USAFA, there are both physical and educational prerequisites. To even be looked at, they require

They designed the plane to supercede the F 15 Eagle to give America complete air dominance.
The F 22 was tested from 1977 2003. It then became operational in 2005. Little do most people
know, but air dominance is very important for wars. First off, air dominance can make or break a
war by giving troops freedom to carry out ops. Secondly, the French, English, and the Russians had
all recently designed planes to dominate the F 15 s abilities in the sky. If the United States had not
designed a more advanced airplane, the French, English, and the Russians could have caused
complications for America in the future.

The Invention Of The Dye Industry
During WWII there were many advancements in modern weaponry, the production of larger
weapons and faster planes allowed for devastation across the globe. Many of these weapons were
very effective and while the war trudged on as did the new technology that arose from the hellish
time. German forces, at this time, were on the frontlines in trenches as they tried to push back
British and French troops. Although Germany s armies were strong they still struggled to advance
on the British and French troops. Meanwhile in Germany, the dye industry was steadily producing
economic growth but, the German army had other plans. These plans would eventually change the
dynamic of war itself.
It was 1915, German forces grew tired and started to look for other ways to advance on British
and French troops. As stated before the dye industry was a great weapon. Except it wasn t the dye
that was used but a chemical used to create the dye, chlorine. The German army filled canisters of
chlorine and bought them to the battlefield. As they opened the canisters yellowish gas flowed
from the metal cases directly toward two French regiments. The French regiments watched as this
gas flowed toward them, before they knew it the gas had reached them. One by one French
soldiers started choking on the gas as their lungs filled with chlorine. As the gas melted the tissues
of their lungs French troops fell, all of them. Two French divisions were destroyed, in no time the
gas had done what it was intended to

Incarceration In A Tale Of Two Cities
At the start of the novel, Manette has been recently released from the Bastille after a long
imprisonment. He is briefly given shelter in Paris by his former servant Ernest Defarge (who
will subsequently be a leader of the storming of the Bastille) and is then reunited with his
daughter Lucie. He does nothing but make shoes, a pastime that he adopted to distract himself
from the tortures of prison. He is clearly not in his right mind during this time; he speaks only
when necessary, and has become so used to being a prisoner that he can hardly bear light or
freedom. As he overcomes his past as a prisoner, due to his daughter s love and devotion to him,
however, he resumes his occupation as a physician in England, and proves to be a kind, loving...

As Jarvis Lorry makes his way toward France to recover Manette, the narrator reflects that every
human creature is constituted to be that profound secret and mystery to every other. For much of
the novel, the cause of Manette s incarceration remains a mystery both to the other characters and to
the reader. Even when the story concerning the evil Marquis St. EvrГ©monde comes to light, the
conditions of Manette s imprisonment remain hidden. Though the reader never learns exactly how
Manette suffered, his relapses into trembling sessions of shoemaking evidence the depth of his
misery. Like Carton, Manette over the course of the novel, undergoes drastic change. He is
transformed from an insensate prisoner who mindlessly cobbles shoes into a man of distinction.
The contemporary reader tends to understand human individuals not as fixed entities but rather as
impressionable and reactive beings, affected and influenced by their surroundings and by the people
with whom they interact. In Dickens age, however, this notion was rather revolutionary. Manette s
transformation testifies to the tremendous impact of relationships and experience on life. The
strength that he displays while dedicating himself to rescuing Darnay seems to confirm the lesson
that Carton learns by the end of the novel that not only does

The Australian Government s Action Under The Asiatic Act
I have been asked to advise Summer Rayne whether (1) the Australian government would be able
to stop him from helping the Afghanistan asylum seekers by his boat s action under the ASIATIC
Act, (2) the government would be able to forfeit his speedboats under the ASIATIC Act without
returning it back to him, (3) any sales and purchase of the T shirts would be legal, and (4) overall
he would have any chances of challenging the Act.
It appears that although there are some invalid provisions sections 4(4) (5) and section 5(4) of the
Act, the Act is overall valid to stop him from any actions helping the Afghanistan asylum seekers by
severing the invalid portion of the Act.

Defence Power: sections 2, 3, 4(1) (3)
It appears that sections 2, 3 and 4(1) (3) may be supported by the Defence Power, under section
51(vi). Section 2 provides the objects of the ASIATIC Act. It states that the legislation s purposes,
with respect to defence of the Commonwealth of Australia , to support any Australian Government
agency and its members (s 2(i)), to control anti social behaviour interfering the policies for
defence (s 2(ii)), to prevent the recurrence of the anti social behaviour (s 2(iii)), and associated the
purposes (s 2(iv)). Dixon J stated that a law with respect to the defence power expresses connection
to defence of the Commonwealth in its purpose or object, according to its purposive nature. This
provision clearly states that the Act has the connection to the

Midsummer Night s Dream And Much Ado About Nothing
Battle of the Sexes in MSND and Much Ado about Nothing In Shakespeare s comedies, A
Midsummer Night s Dream and Much Ado about Nothing, a battle of the sexes is displayed in
profound ways. Particularly in war between the female and male characters. Shakespeare plays
with the idea of a battle between the genders throughout the two plays and even adds in whimsical
fairies and potions to shake up the plot. In A Midsummer Night s Dream, Shakespeare showcases a
battle between Theseus and Hippolyta. Hippolyta is not the meek and mild woman that many of
her time would be. Instead, she is an Amazon woman who is fierce and strong. Shakespeare created
Hippolyta to not conform to the gender roles of the time. At this time physical strength was

Due to not being able to choose her husband Hermia must run away to marry the man she loves. In
this time, women were thought of as weaker than men and unable to make appropriate decisions
for themselves.. This was thought to be due to the fact that women could not keep the four
humours and elements in balance, partly because of menstruation. (McDonald pg. 254) Aristotle
even made the assumption that the female of all animals in less fierce and takes care of the young
more than the male. He used that example as a way to justify women being forced to stay home
and perform the bulk of the childcare. The next battle is between Helena, Demetrius, and Lysander.
Neither Demetrius nor Lysander love Helena so she wishes she were as fair as Hermia so that
Demetrius might love her. Helena is desperate for Demetrius love and says, Use me but as your
spaniel: spurn me, strike me,/ neglect me, lose me; only give me leave,/ Unworthy as I am, to
follow you (Shakespeare 2.1.205 209). Shakespeare could be alluding to some bestiality by having
Helena refer to herself as a dog. This is also a way of Helena degrading herself to try to win the

Essay on Sayo Masuda’s Autobiography of a Geisha
Sayo Masuda s Autobiography of a Geisha
Autobiography of a Geisha was originally written for a memoir competition run by the Japanese
magazine Housewife s Companion. Sayo Masuda wrote and submitted her manuscript in hopes of
winning the monetary prize offered. She won second place in the competition and came to the
attention of an editor who helped her expand her story and publish it as a book. Riding on the
wave of interest stirred by Arthur Golden s Memoirs of a Geisha, G. G. Rowley translated Sayo
Masuda s tale for the American market.
Rowley did an excellent job of capturing Masuda s voice in his translation. If English had been
Masuda s native language, the result might easily have been Rowley s translation. Masuda s tale ...

Readers will also come away with an understanding of the hot spring geisha s life, but caution
should be taken. It is easy, as many critics have done, to presume that Masuda s tale is the
unvarnished truth about the entire geisha world, rather than merely the unvarnished truth about a
part of it. Reviewer Kimberly Shearer Palmer wrote that Autobiography of a Geisha resolves the
ambiguity over whether or not geisha are prostitutes... [Masuda] leaves little doubt in the reader
s mind that even the most talented geisha are forced to sleep with men for money, a fact glossed
over in many accounts of the profession. (14). Palmer leaves little doubt in the minds of those
who read her review that she takes Masuda s experiences of geisha life as true for all classes of
geisha, regarding sources such as Mineko Iwasaki s Geisha, A Life as tainted. Many other
reviewers follow in the same vein, calling reports of higher class geisha s lives romanticized
(Napier) and Hollywood version[s] (Gavin). Perhaps these attitudes stem from a culture clash which
prevents many Americans from understanding the differences between Japanese prostitutes and
geisha, and the gradations within the flower and willow world. The tendency seems to be to lump
all geisha together with the term prostitute, an attitude which is all too eager to use Masuda s
biography to support generalized, culturally skewed assumptions about geisha.

Last Hundred Days Analysis
After collecting many statistics on the battle of WW1 (Battle of Ypres, Battle of Somme, Battle of
Vimy Ridge, Battle of Passchendaele, and Battle of Last Hundred Days) I came to the conclusion
that the battle of Hundred Days had the greatest number of Canadian casualties overall. After
looking through the statistics of the casualties among Canadian soldiers throughout the following
battles I saw that Canadas Hundred Days Battle had a substantially greater amount of wounded and
dead soldiers compared to the battles of Ypres, Somme, Vimy Ridge, and Passchendaele. Canada s
Hundred Day battle cost Canada about 36,000 casualties in total, then Battle of Somme with about
24,000 casualties, then Passchendaele with approximately 16,000 casualties,

The problems of Intellectual Property Rights In China
Abstract After Deng Xiaoping s reform and opening up policy in 1978, China recorded an annual
average growth rate of 9.67 percent in China. This is approximately three times higher than the
average annual growth rate of global economy which is 3.3% within the same period. Past 29
years, due to rapid growth rate, China ranked the 2nd in trade volume and size of economy.
However, many side effects are appeared due to the rapid economic growth. This study will
measure what is the current state of the world s counterfeit goods market, why people violate the
IPR protection and produce counterfeit goods, what is the problem of IPR law enforcements and
how violating law and producing counterfeit goods in China influence the world.
Introduction Both economically and socially, influence of China is substantial. Economic and
social status of China is firm that it can not be oversighted. However, intellectual property rights
have been rising issues in China. First step to solve the problem is realize there is one. It is
critical to recognize which elements are violating IPR. Basic systematic error of IPR and
counterfeit culture in China are main factors for the obstacles.

of world trade, will double in size over the next

Analysis Of Brent Hartinger s The
Author Brent Hartinger has written an interesting novel that explores the duality of man in
reference to an individual s outward appearance compared to their inward appearance. A strong
point of this novel is Middlebrow s willingness to explore new and exciting things, such as going
The Geography Club A.K.A (The Gay Straight Alliance). A weak point of this novel
is when
Middlebrow meets random strangers online and engages in sexual activity. Teen s who are
searching for their own identity may find Middlebrow s tale of not only discovering himself, but
elevating himself extremely interesting. The plot of two teens hiding not only their true identity,
but an entire Gay Straight Alliance club from their outside world, until they are labeled outcasts,
proves to be the most interesting aspect of this novel. Although there are numerous good role
models within this novel, I believe that Min s selfless actions of forming the The Geography Clubto
offer a safe haven for homosexual students establish her as the novel s true role model. Since this
novel deals with heavy drinking and extreme sexuality exploration, this novel should only be read
by fifteen year olds to adults.

During that period he carved several prophets for the Florentine Campanile, including the
Zuccone (Baldhead), a vibrant characterization. In 1430 32, he went to Rome with Brunelleschi
and became one of the first Renaissance artists interested in ancient monuments. Reflections of
classical putti (male infants) can be found in his rendering of the lively cherubs in the Singing
Gallery (1433 38, cathedral mus.) and in the pulpit at Prato. Classical influence is also evident in
his bronze David (c.1432, Bargello), one of the earliest freestanding nude figures of the
Renaissance. In demand throughout Italy, Donatello was invited to Padua in 1443, where he
stayed for 10 years as the head of an enormous workshop. He designed the equestrian statue of
Gattamelata (1447 53) and the high altar for Sant Antonio (1446 50). Upon his return to
Florence, he carved the acutely expressive Magdalen (c.1460?, baptistery), which was greatly
damaged by the flood of 1966. In his last years he worked on the pulpits of San Lorenzo, creating
a magnificent series of reliefs. He was one of the most influential painters and sculptors of his
time. Most of his works have remained in Florence, but a good representation can be seen in
London s Victoria and Albert Museum. Two examples of his work can be found in American

Malcolm X Thesis
No man in our time aroused fear and hatred in the white man as did Malcolm, because in him the
white man sense an implacable foe who could not be had for any price a man unreservedly
committed to the cause of liberating the black man in American society rather than integrating the
black man into that society. (Haley XXV)

we re anti degradation, we re anti oppression. And if the white man doesn t want us to be anti him,

Why would anyone feel comfortable living in a society integrated with the people who instilled in

Hardships can pull people apart, but Malcolm found that common factor that unified people to come

and that is what brought them together. The only thing that all blacks in America had in common
was the fact that none of their black ancestors originated in the United States. They had all been

Why Batteries Are Very Important
Batteries, The Science Behind Them, and Their Importance Batteries are extremely important.
But most people don t know the science behind it or how imperative they really are. Today, I will
tell you about this, the items they power, they re importance, and how they really work. A
battery is a device that stores electrical energy in the form of chemical energy. When it comes to
the use of batteries, they are imperative to most people s lives. They re used for practically
everything like flashlights, watches, calculators, phones, laptops, and power tools. Bigger things
include cars, trucks, buses, lawn mowers, wheel chairs, forklifts, trains, and satellites. So they re
very important and even more important when you consider that they power smoke and carbon
dioxide detectors. As said before, society is heavily impacted by batteries. Without them,
everything would always need to be plugged in, or need to be charged. There d be lots of outlets
and plugs without batteries. But how many important everyday items do we use that run on
batteries? Well, there would be no such thing as wrist watches or flashlights or anything portable
that runs on electricity. Batteries make everything so convenient, we forget about them. Switching
on the TV, texting on your mobile while walking around, or taking pictures would never be so easy

A battery has three main parts: it has two terminals made of chemicals, which are called the anode
and the cathode. There s also the electrolyte, which detaches the two terminals. The electrolyte is a

a device is connected to a battery the chemical on the anode releases electrons to the negative
terminal. This is called an oxidation reaction. While this is happening, at the positive terminal the
cathode accepts electrons. This completes the circuit for the flow of

Hydrogen as an Alternative Fuel Essays
Hydrogen as an Alternative Fuel
What is Hydrogen?
The simplest and lightest fuel is hydrogen gas (H2). Hydrogen is in a gaseous state at atmospheric
pressure and ambient temperatures. Hydrogen is being explored for use in combustion engines and
fuel cell electric vehicles. On a volumetric basis, the energy density of hydrogen is very low under
ambient conditions. This presents greater transportation and storage hurdles than for liquid fuels.
Storage systems being developed include compressed hydrogen, liquid hydrogen, and physical or
chemical bonding between hydrogen and a storage material (for example, metal hydrides). The
ability to create hydrogen from a variety of resources and its ... Show more content on

Hydrogen burns in air at concentrations in the range of 4 to 75 percent by volume (methane burns at
5.3 to 15 percent concentrations by volume). The highest burning temperature of hydrogen is 2,318
degrees Celsius and is reached at 29 percent concentration by volume in air.
Hydrogen Benefits
Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Greenhouse gases are thought to be responsible for changes in global climate. They trap excess
heat from the sun s infrared radiation that would otherwise escape into space, much like a
greenhouse is used to trap heat. When we drive our cars, and light, heat, and cool our homes, we
generate greenhouse gases. But if we used hydrogen in very high efficiency fuel cells for our
transportation and to generate power, we could significantly reduce the GHG emissions especially
if the hydrogen is produced using renewable resources, nuclear power, or clean fossil technologies.
Reduce Air Pollution
The combustion of fossil fuels by electric power plants, vehicles, and other sources is responsible
for most of the smog and harmful particulates in the air. Fuel cells powered by pure hydrogen emit
no harmful pollutants. Fuel cells that use a reformer to convert fuels such as natural gas, methanol,
or gasoline to hydrogen do emit small amounts of air

Applying A Stress Management Schedule
With the intention of managing stress, I decided to implement a stress management schedule,
which I would continually develop, over the course of 11 weeks. With a focus on yoga, I hoped
to gain an important insight on the valuable implications that proper stress management can have
in my life. Improving my physical and emotional health can not only positively affect my own
self, but also can positively affect the way I manage my own work life and relationships with
others. Since being in college, I have felt as if I could not properly manage my daily tasks, while
also taking time to myself. I constantly became stressed and anxious, with no sense of outlet. I
decided to incorporate a stressmanagementtactic into my daily routine. As David Surrenda, dean
of the Graduate School of Holistic Studies at John F. Kennedy University in California,
described yoga in the International New York Times, as a, spiritual development practice to
train the body and mind to self observe and become aware of their own nature. He later went on
to describe how yoga affects each person by cultivating discernment, awareness, self regulation
and higher consciousness, positively affecting multiple aspects of a persons life. Because of these
reasons, I decided yoga could be the right fit for my personal development plan of managing
stress. After choosing yoga as my concentration, I conducted research on different types and
positions out there to preform. Yoga was a way, for me, to work on

Black Panther Exchanges Gases
The black panther exchanges gases and breathes just like humans using their lungs. Black panthers
lungs are a bit larger considering their size and weight. First, the breathing starts at the panther s
nose and mouth. The panther inhales air into their nose or mouth and into their windpipe, or in
other words, trachea. Trachea then divides into tiny air passages called bronchial tubes. As the
bronchial tubes pass through the lungs, they divide into even smaller air passages called
bronchioles. Bronchioles end in tiny balloon air sacs called alveoli. Next, the alveoli are then
surrounded by a mesh on small blood vessels called capillaries. At this stage, oxygenfrom the
inhaled air of the panther passes through the alveoli walls and into

The Last Judgement
The Last Judgment is the large painting on the inside of Brunelleschi s Dome. A number of
people were responlible for the creation of this painting, which was started as early as 1570
when Vincenzo Borghini drew up a theological program for the painting. Giorgio Vasari was
initially in charge of painting the dome; however, his death in 1574 caused this reasonability to be
transferred to Federico Zuccaro who completed the frescoes in 1579. When you first walk to the
dome, the only visible scene is Jesuswith outstretched arms with images of angels and saints
surrounding him. As you get closer to the dome you are able to see the gruesome seen behind and

Flowers For Algernon Journey Essay
Journey is an expedition to a certain place that is embarked by an individual. As much as it is
physical, it is also emotional and imaginative and in the process of embarking on a journey an
individual must discover something about themselves or the society. The powerful human spirit is
essential for a journey because it is crucial for individuals when overcoming obstacles and allows
individuals to explore and recognise the unknown aspects of themselves or the world. This is
illustrated in the radio drama Flowers for Algernon adapted by Bert Coules and written by Daniel
Keyes and in the film Little Miss Sunshine directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. In

In Flowers for Algernon , Charlie becomes more aware of other people s feelings through
psychological transformation. This is exhibited in quote, Go on Charlie, get up close to her. The
use of imperative voice in the first quote instructs Charlie to do something which presents an idea
of controllingness. This indicates the beginning of Charlie s emotional change as it introduces
Charlie s emotional condition before the transformation. The powerful imperative Go portrays
Charlie as someone who is easy controlled. It shows that at the start of the journey, Charlie did not
understand what the intention was. The development in human spirit is displayed in the metaphor
in I felt naked. I wanted to hide myself , a use of metaphor reveals feelings of embarrassment of
realising how he was treated amongst his friends is compared to being uncovered in public. This
depicts a strong sense of vulnerability and humiliation as he realises that he s friends were never
nice to him instead making fun of him. This quote shows Charlie s emotional journey as he
perceive that he was never considered as a true friend to those who he thought was a true friend.
Consequently, it shows that in an emotional journey, the strength of development and growth of
human spirit is needed to understand the deep meaning of empathy and experience self

Hawaii Volcanoes Essay
There are many different types of volcanoes in the United States. Composite, Ciner and Shield are
the three types of volcanoes. Over the history of Hawaii, covering about 85 million years, there
have been 129 volcanoes formed due to the hot spot and of that 129, 123 of them are extinct or

Hualalai and Haleakala. Lo ihi is the only underwater volcanoin Hawaii; the other four volcanoes
are above sea level. Kilauea is a hyperactive shield type volcano. Volcanoes are mainly found
where tectonic plates are diverging or converging. The Mid Ocean Ridge is an example of
divergent tectonic plates pulling apart, where the Ring of Fire is an example of convergent

Before, people did not consider Lo ihi to be an active volcano, instead just a common old

Characteristics Of A Nurse
The Oxford English Dictionary defines a nurse as, A person trained to care for the sick or
infirm, especially in a hospital. However, this is not my definition of a nurse. My idea of a nurse
relates to a superhero, aiding in the healing of a body. A nurse is a champion who comes into
work with energy, patience, aching feet, stained scrubs with sweat from a strenuous day at work
but always a smile. A nurse goes home 12 hours later from their shift only to remember the extra
blanket for Jody and also that is not sweat on my clothing, it is urine, but a nurse is thrilled that
Phil finally went to restroom after a ten minute story about 10 cent candies. Not just any person
could care for Jody, who requests three blankets each night or Phil who refuses to utilize the
restroom, but a superhero could, a nurse could. I yearn to be a nurse; to be a superhero. Two
exceptional qualities come to mind when I regard a nurse, kindness and patience. Kindness for
Jody, who will wake up in two hours requesting less blankets because she is too hot, despite the
fact this is a repeat of the exact events from the day before. Patience for Phil for the reason that
you told him he should try to visit the restroom before dinner, but before long and he is
explaining how to build a computer. Two exceptional qualities I claim to express, every time I am
on the job. My employment is in a long term care facility as a Certified Nursing Assistant, every day
is a new adventure; maybe today I can

What Are The Importance Of Freedom Of Speech
Imagine a school free of disruptions. Free of bullying and harassment. That s what all students
and teachers want, right? Report to school every day,get a proper education. But that s not the
case in all schools. Some students are not able to learn during the school day. They may get
distracted by going off topic in class or get disturbed by what someone is wearing. If their
freedom of speech is limited, students will actually be able to learn. Freedom of speech should
have limits because it increases educationtime, it allows kids to prepare for the future, and it limits
bullyingand harassment. Firstly, freedom of speech should have limits because it increases
education time. For example, students can lose up to 38 days a year due to disruptions in class
and about 1 hour per day (Al.com). Teenagers report to schoolto get an education and learn for the
future, they do not show up at school to talk to everyone the entire day. Due of talking, they lose
class time and they do not get much done. If freedom of speech is limited students will be able to
learn more. Also if another peer is wearing something that is very distracting, this will disrupt the
class. For example, the Tinker v.s Des Moines Independent Community School District case was
about students wearing armbands to support the Vietnam War. The appearance of the armband
distracted their peers from their work. The school was able to discipline the students wearing the
bands . ( Tinker v.

the disease carrying rodents to shelter indoors. And the situation is only going to get worse
because of the increase in the rat population thanks to a succession of milder winters, according

progresses the number of states which can still uphold that marijuana is illegal has changed. Today,
Twenty three states and the District of Columbia currently have laws legalizing marijuana in some
form or way out of the fifty two states of the Union. The increase in marijuana and other drugs
being used in that state has its ties to narcotic crime which could be linked to the cartel for other
drugs that are out there. Thus, it increases narcotic crime in those states that choose to legalize it.
Another con of marijuana and of other dangerous drug use is the most obvious. It s the health of the
individual who consumes it by smoking it. Your lungs are inhaling substances such as tar and it is
among other things that can affect your breathing. According to the American Lung Association,
Smoking marijuana clearly damages the human lung, and regular use leads to chronic bronchitis
and can cause an immune compromised person to be more susceptible to lung infections. No one
should be exposed to secondhand marijuana smoke. It can affect not only the

Owls Vs Risers
The Merriam Webster defines sleep as the natural periodic suspension of consciousness during
which the powers of the body are restored. Although many people don t recognize the value of
sleep, it is a very essential part of life. There are many differences between a night owl and an
early riser. Research proves that there are many benefits as well as negative results to both
sleeping habits. Unfortunately, night owls are more likely to develop diabetes and other health
issues like reduced muscles mass. In contrast, early risers are destined to live a long healthy life.
It is also proven to help sustain a healthier diet when you wake up early. On the other hand night
owls crave more food, and tend to binge eat. The body realizes its

Life Long Learning Is The Key Axiom Of Life
Learning is one of the greatest aspects of life. Accepting that learning from all experiences leads to
the greatest version of yourself and your ultimate accomplishments is a key axiom of life. I believe
that lifelong learning is the most important concept and skill to have. A large amount of skills that
make people successful in their professional and academic careers comes from unconventional
learningwhich is a major part of the lifelong learningprocess. Unconventional learning develops
many very practical and applicable skills that help in a variety of areas. These unconventional
concepts paired with conventional learning and the ever growing drive for knowledge is known
as Life Long Learning. Lifelong Learning is the most important concept to grasp. There are three
categories of learning that are associated with lifelong learning. They are Formal Learning ,
which is affiliated with the typical brick and mortar school. Formal learning is any clearly
identified learning activity that takes place in an organized, structured setting that leads to
certification (Taylor, Trumpower, and Pavic). The next type of learning is Non Formal
Learning.Non Formal Learning is learning that usually coincides with Formal education but is not
measured or certified for proficiency. An example of this would be someone going to a public
speaking convention and learning new public speaking skills but its does not lead to certification.
The last type of learning is Informal

Benefits Of The Great Wall Of China
The Great Wall of China is the world s longest wall and biggest ancient architecture. The Great
Wall was finished/opened in 206 BC which meant that the Great Wall took approximately 20 years
to build.. There are several reasons why the benefits outweighed the costs, such as, the Great Wall
protected China, there would be no more Xiongnu invasions, and the Great Wall follows the famed
Silk Road. So, the benefits outweighed the costs in my opinion. To start, the Great Wall protected
China. This meant that there would be no more Xiongnu invasions. The Xiongnu were a fierce and
threatening group of nomads. Also, this means that there would be no other invasions from any
other group or tribe. The Great Wall would prevent anything else than invasions.

Literary Techniques Used In The Movie Oblivion
When a movie only contains a plot some stock soundtracks emphasizing certain moments in a
movie, then it s only just as good as the other movies within the same genre because the
soundtracks prove there was very little the makers could do to emphasize how the movie was
different and much more exciting since it did not follow a clichГ© from similar movies. The
movie Oblivion does just this: It provides a unique plot that differs from most other sci fi movies
and is accompanied occasionally by segments of the main soundtrack, also named Oblivion. The
soundtrack could be the base of an entire short filmif the creators wanted to do just only that. It is
entirely possible because of the nature of the song and the fact that it goes through the... Show more

One example of the devices they used to influence the emphasis the song makes is the rhyme
scheme AAAA used in order to give a smooth transition to every line in the song. This gives the
feeling of a smooth transition into different chapters in the movie instead of having an alternating
rhyme scheme that would rather make the song feel unconnected and as if the song misses key
points before describing the next chapter. Another example is the heavy use of symbolism
throughout the song. In the beginning, the dying swan is a reference to an inevitable fate that the
female sees coming for her relationship. In the second version, the lyrics imply that the male
character is better off without her by contrasting the word light to mean the male and darkness to
represent the female. There is also a heavy use of repetition to highlight parts of movie where the
emotions of the female are at the highest point such as by using the words goodbye, falling, and
calling to convey how heartbroken the female feels. Based off all literary qualities the lyrics
possess; the lyrics could even interchangeably become a

The Relationship Between Divorce And Love In American...
Today, divorce has become a common cultural and historical concern and an American way of
life (Whitehead). This essay studies the relationship between divorce and love as presented in
numerous realist literary works from the turn of the century, including A Modern Instance by
William Dean Howells, Marry Me: A Romance by John Updike, and The Custom of the Country
by Edith Wharton. Closely reviewing these novels, I examine love as well as divorce, which
saw a remarkable increase between the years 1880 and 1920. Moving the topic of divorce to the
forefront illuminates love in real life and helps us understand the ways in which these realists
were actively participating in and engaging with the issues of society during their era, rather
than exposing life as they saw it. In each of these novels, this old fashioned subject of love or
romance is presented with a sort of sympathetic disdain, creating a tension in these texts rendered
thematically by the disruptive subject of divorce and informed by contradictory beautiful and
social priorities that shape an analysis of the present and the past on which it depends. A closer
glimpse at divorce in American literature is captivating because love has played a central role in
the history of literature as a whole. It has been demonstrated that love has served as a complex
conceptual formal function in the development of literature through each era. Love and marriage
have been pivotal to the plot and shape of literary works, serving as

embracing drum loops and elements of Top 40 pop, Urban wrote songs that appealed to a wide
audience Andrew Leahey, unknown. He has an incredible passion for music, uses it in a way to
express his thought and makes it his own.
Keith Urban is a grammy winning country musician and songwriter. Urban was born on the
26th of October, 1967, in Whangarei New Zealand. He has an older brother, Shane and his
parents are Bob and Marienne Urban. His dad gave him a ukulele when he was only four years
old and started to learn to play the guitar at six years old. He received guitar lessons from a
teacher in exchange for the teacher to display advertisements in the windows of his dad s
convenience shop. Urban displayed natural talent abilities and won multiple school talent shows.
The family soon moved to Caboolture, Queensland when he was 16 years old. He started entering
national competitions such as New Faces in 1983. He did work experience at 4kq radio station in
Queensland as well.
In 1990, Urban signed with EMI and released his first album in Australia only. He appeared on the

Public Private Divide Structure The Priorities Of Human...
Public private divide structure the priorities of human rights issues in Afghanistan. The private
sphere is traditional and immune to outside interferences. The public sphere is subject to
interference from the outsiders. The United States government, like many other governments, most
always has a hidden agenda when they choose what issues to privatize and what issues to publicize.
American troops tend to ignore private issues such as domestic abuse and women s education in
Afghanistan because these issues are seen as private issues; however, when there is something to
gain from interfering it becomes a public issue. Sharbat Gula is a young Afghan girl who for
seventeen years was only a picture, lacking a name and a story in the American media. Seventeen
years later the photographer, Steve McCurry, returned searching for this young girl to publicize her
previous unimportant story. He returned to publicize the violation to women s right to education in
Afghanistan. The hidden agenda was to show the American people that Afghan women needed
saving from their culture and society. Yet, there was no mention that the war that the United Statesis
a part of is what ruined these women s futures. The United States troops in Afghanistan rescued a
brutally tortured and abused Afghan woman named Aisha Bibi after she was left to die in the
mountains by the Taliban. At first glance the American audience see the American troops as heroes,
however, when closely analyzed a hidden agenda

William Butler Yeats Ageing Analysis
Living
(Three Messages from Sailing)
Who is William Butler Yeats? William Butler Yeats is regarded as one of the finest poets of the
century. Also, his return to the past as one would say has helped him to have a place in the future.
He was born in Dublin, Ireland, and Yeats was educated there and in London as well. The young
man was very immersed into the barren mountains, and in the mythology and the legends of
Ireland. From the Poetry Foundation stated, He belonged to the Protestant, Anglo Irish minority that
had controlled the economic, political, social, and cultural life of Ireland since at least the end of
the 17th century. After having this wonderful background that was full of experience Yeats wrote
some of the most famous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, the second message from Yeats Sailing, is what is really living. The idea is that as soon as
you were born you were dying. Which asks the question of what is really living. Some people
see a soul dragging around a corpse. Your soul wants to get out and be free. From the five life
changing thoughts stated, We have an ego, a personality, a history, preferences, dislikes, beliefs,
opinions, cultural viewpoints, and experiences. These ingredients comprise our person and our
worldly sense of self. But beneath all of these human ingredients lies one which is the
foundation of all of them. Without this ingredient, this avatar would not exist. This ingredient is
the soul. For me really living is doing things that make you happy. Because in life a person is
going to make mistakes and not be perfect but it s how you learn from them and how you make
your life better from the experience you had. From Sailing, Yeats, lines 21 25, Consume my
heart away; sick with desire and fastened to a dying animal. It knows not what it is; and gather
me into the artifice of eternity. All good things must die but it s about how you live and some
may say that right as you are born you are dying. But, if you look in a optimistic or pessimistic
view that s up to you. Lastly, the message from Sailing, Yeats, is being remembered. No matter who

Two Layer Floodgate Lab Report
Two Layer Floodgate Can an increase of layers on a floodgate improve the performance of the
floodgate? If a second layer of popsicle sticks is added to a model floodgate made out of
popsicle sticks, then the two layer floodgate will be able to block more water. The control
variables for this experiment include where both tests were conducted (bathtub), the materials
used for each floodgate (same brand of popsicle sticks), the 20x6.x8.5 floral foam blocks on each
side of the bathtub, the location in the bathtub that the floodgates were placed in; all of these
variables were the same for each experiment. The independent variable was how many liters of
water in the bathtub at one time. The dependent variable was the amount of water the floodgate
held back (measured in how high the water level was on the south end of the bathtub). The
floodgate with one layer was the control group; the two layered one was the experimental group.
The first procedure for this experiment was to gather your materials. Next was to build the
floodgates and set up the bathtub. To conduct the experiment, pour 2 liters of water into the bathtub
from the south end at a time, and log the results. The first design of this experiment involved no
clay or floral foam blocks, instead the floodgate was positioned between two towels.... Show more

The design of the floodgates couldn t help but be flawed. No popsicle sticks will be created
completely the same. Therefore, when hot gluing them together, they won t match up perfectly,
and this will create small gaps that water can creep through. Also, the popsicle sticks may have
shifted before the glue was dry. The clay may have also let water through it. The clay was not
allowed to dry and stick to the bathtub before the experiment, and that was probably the problem.
Water may have evaporated or been absorbed by the floral foam or clay. All of these variables could
have caused the results received from this

Bottle Feed Infants
Summary of Findings Researchers had hypothesized that bottle fed infants were over fed more
rather than their breast fed counterparts. So a study was conducted to see whether or not the infants
who were bottle fed turned out to be heavier in weight than those who were breast fed. In order to
conduct such a study twenty one mothers had signed up for the testing of their infants. Within the
study the mothers feed their infants the normal ways they would feed them at home and then the
ways the researchers had wanted them to feed them. With the results that the researchers got back
from the study they were able to calculate that the infants intake and rate of feeding could account
for the obesity within the infants.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
The beginning of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) started in the early 1970 s when people
believed more could be done in the out of hospital setting. When the EMT was first introduced to
the people of the United States of America, the curriculum to become an EMT included 400 hours
of class, lab, and clinical rotations in various hospital settings followed by a 100 hour field
internship. 1970 had also included the very first National Registry of EMTs (NREMT), which in
1971, 1,520 personnel took the first NREMT Ambulanceexam. Lyndon B. Johnson adopted the

EMTs have so called chores they need to perform such as [cleaning] the equipment.[They need

job can include [sterilizing] the ambulances interior, if it is used to carry a patient suffering from
an infectious disease. [They also] restock all supplies in the ambulance and replace used

to the hospital. Looking back from the beginning of where the EMT profession was, it has come
a long way. The NREMT has developed immensely over time, and for the better. It has better
prepared our EMTs today and helping them face whatever call they go out on. Not to mention
the progression of equipment from the early 1970 s to the present, has also played a big role in
giving our EMTs an edge for any call. Overall, becoming an EMT takes a lot of dedication and
hard work, but with the right mindset, anyone could become a first

What A Flag Means To Me
What the United States flag means to me is freedom. Freedom of rights. Freedom of speech. But
that s not what it all really means. It means fortitude for those who lose their lives in battle. I
respect the flag. What the flag means to me is that I know that there are people out there, Seals,
Police force, Army, Marines, and all others fighting to keep us safe here in the U.S. The flag to
me symbolises our freedom. And i respect that. How I think of the flag is the way I think of a
baby. You must care for it. And also NEVER drop it. Our flag is something that should be
respected more, and cared for. People should look at the flag whenever they see it, and think of
the people who are in Iran and Iraq, and all over the world fighting.

Summary Of Alone Together By Sherry Turrkle
As the rise of technology has increased, more and more people are becoming detached from their
everyday lives. Technology has allowed us to connect with one another using little to no effort at
all. With robots, machines, and devices improving drastically almost every day, we find ourselves
more alone, as we choose to have more social interactions through our devices. A phycologist,
researcher, and professor by the name of Sherry Turkle explains how the effects of technologyhave a
devastating toll on our social interactions. In the article Alone Together , Turkle interviews many
people of different ages, sexes, and social standing to provide information on how technology
really is distracting us, rather than engaging us with the world. Many people would question if
Turkle s information regarding robots, machines, and devices is worth listening to. She argues
her view in the article through interviews, research, and personal knowledge. Turkle explains that
though we stay connected through technological devices we become more disconnected and
lonely. For example, in Alone Together , Turkle states, as sociable robot propose themselves as
substitutes for people, new networked devices offer us machine meditated relationships with each
other, another kind of substitution (Turkle 81). She is stating, that we as humans are substituting
technology in place of everyday relationships with other people. We would rather connect with
technology because it seems easier than real social interactions. Unfortunately, this is the
lifestyle of Alone Together is being adopted by more people around the world as technology
expands. In an experiment by Microsoft, a virtual human is created to interact with people. The
robot went by the name of Milo and was made known to the public. A boy connected with Milo
and confided in him rather than a real friend when his parents upset him. We are challenged to ask
what such things augur. Some people are looking for robots to clean rugs and help with the
laundry. Others hope for a mechanical bride (Turkle 86). People are reliant on technology to make
them happy. If their house is dirty they want a robot to vacuum their floors, or if they have a
question they hope a technological

Standardized Testing Argument
A Standardized test is a form of test that all students across the nation take at one point. These tests
are federally mandated, timed, and designed to measure students performance in basic subjects. All
students receive the same questions on the test so it s supposed to be multiple choice questions that
fits all students. Standardized testing does not measure the knowledge of students, although many
schools require students take them.
One of the main reasons schools claim to use standardized testing is to compare performance levels
of different students in different locations around the nation, but this is an unreliable way to do so.
According to many studies, such tests decrease student motivation and increase their stress and
anxiety. Far too much emphasis is put into standardized tests to the point where teachers are
teaching to the test rather than making sure real learning is taking place. Students aren t learning
everything that is part of their curriculum. Too much focus is directed to ... Show more content on

They claim testing not only can measure the ability of students, but the school education system as a
whole. Results inform the nation whether students are mastering the so called critical skills and
knowledge being taught to them. At this point, struggling students can be aided in the direction
they should go to improve and reach the overall goal set for them. For this reasoning, opponents
argue that standardized testing is a good after all. Though they do make a fair point, we can t
overlook the fact there are too many factors that play a role in the testing which can likely result in
unreliable and inaccurate outcomes. Ultimately, students are capable of different and amazing
things, therefore their abilities should not be determined off a test given to every single one of their

There are pharmacists that work in totally different fields and their tasks require them to be
specialized in different areas of pharmacy. Some of the different types of pharmacists are,
Pharmaceutical technicians and Pharmaceutical scientists. Both share a general relation with each
other, but they both have major differences according to what they do on a daily basis.
Pharmaceutical scientists usually specialize in one aspect of the drug development process. They
design new drug remedies using natural or man made ingredients, they study how disease affects
the body and what causes some people to develop certain types of disease, study how the human
body responds to medications so scientists can develop more efficient, safer drugs, they uncover new

  • 2. Bill Of Rights In Schools After listening to the presentations based on the amendments within the Bill of Rights given by the students of room 144, the Bill of Rights should be amended. The Bill of Rights consists of the first ten amendments of the U.S. Constitution and was established in the winter of 1791. The Amendments compile a list of laws and rights followed by the citizens of the United States. Although the First Amendment allows people to say whatever they want, the Bill of Rights should be amended because people should have the protection against unreasonable searches and seizures and should have the ability to avoid cruel or unusual punishments. • 4. Air Force Academy Essay Did you know that the Air Force Academy only has a 12.3% acceptance rate? Because the Air Force Academy has such a competitive admission policy, candidates need to be physically fit, well educated, and have a vision of what to do as a graduate. The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) was established on April 1, 1954 to serve as a proving ground for all Air Force cadets and officers. Construction of the academy started in 1955, but it wasn t until 1957 that it was complete. The academy is stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado due to the fact that Colorado donated one million dollars to support the cause. The first graduating class the academy had graduated in 1959. By then, the attendance had grown to 4,417. Today, more than 48,000 cadets have graduated throughout the years. A major boost to this huge production of graduates was the acceptance of female cadets in 1976. Today, the USAFA has produced some of the finest pilots the United States Air Forcehas ever seen (Academy admissions.com). To get into the USAFA, there are both physical and educational prerequisites. Secondly, the French, English, and the Russians had all recently designed planes to dominate the F 15 s abilities in the sky. If the United States had not designed a more advanced airplane, the French, English, and the Russians could have caused complications for America in the future. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Invention Of The Dye Industry During WWII there were many advancements in modern weaponry, the production of larger weapons and faster planes allowed for devastation across the globe. Many of these weapons were very effective and while the war trudged on as did the new technology that arose from the hellish time. German forces, at this time, were on the frontlines in trenches as they tried to push back British and French troops. Although Germany s armies were strong they still struggled to advance on the British and French troops. Meanwhile in Germany, the dye industry was steadily producing economic growth but, the German army had other plans. These plans would eventually change the dynamic of war itself. It was 1915, German forces grew tired and started to look for other ways to advance on British and French troops. As stated before the dye industry was a great weapon. Except it wasn t the dye that was used but a chemical used to create the dye, chlorine. The German army filled canisters of chlorine and bought them to the battlefield. As they opened the canisters yellowish gas flowed from the metal cases directly toward two French regiments. The French regiments watched as this gas flowed toward them, before they knew it the gas had reached them. One by one French soldiers started choking on the gas as their lungs filled with chlorine. As the gas melted the tissues of their lungs French troops fell, all of them. Two French divisions were destroyed, in no time the gas had done what it was intended to ... • 7. Incarceration In A Tale Of Two Cities At the start of the novel, Manette has been recently released from the Bastille after a long imprisonment. He is briefly given shelter in Paris by his former servant Ernest Defarge (who will subsequently be a leader of the storming of the Bastille) and is then reunited with his daughter Lucie. He does nothing but make shoes, a pastime that he adopted to distract himself from the tortures of prison. He is clearly not in his right mind during this time; he speaks only when necessary, and has become so used to being a prisoner that he can hardly bear light or freedom. As he overcomes his past as a prisoner, due to his daughter s love and devotion to him, however, he resumes his occupation as a physician in England, and proves to be a kind, loving... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Jarvis Lorry makes his way toward France to recover Manette, the narrator reflects that every human creature is constituted to be that profound secret and mystery to every other. For much of the novel, the cause of Manette s incarceration remains a mystery both to the other characters and to the reader. Even when the story concerning the evil Marquis St. EvrГ©monde comes to light, the conditions of Manette s imprisonment remain hidden. Though the reader never learns exactly how Manette suffered, his relapses into trembling sessions of shoemaking evidence the depth of his misery. Like Carton, Manette over the course of the novel, undergoes drastic change. He is transformed from an insensate prisoner who mindlessly cobbles shoes into a man of distinction. The contemporary reader tends to understand human individuals not as fixed entities but rather as impressionable and reactive beings, affected and influenced by their surroundings and by the people with whom they interact. In Dickens age, however, this notion was rather revolutionary. Manette s transformation testifies to the tremendous impact of relationships and experience on life. The strength that he displays while dedicating himself to rescuing Darnay seems to confirm the lesson that Carton learns by the end of the novel that not only does ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Australian Government s Action Under The Asiatic Act I have been asked to advise Summer Rayne whether (1) the Australian government would be able to stop him from helping the Afghanistan asylum seekers by his boat s action under the ASIATIC Act, (2) the government would be able to forfeit his speedboats under the ASIATIC Act without returning it back to him, (3) any sales and purchase of the T shirts would be legal, and (4) overall he would have any chances of challenging the Act. It appears that although there are some invalid provisions sections 4(4) (5) and section 5(4) of the Act, the Act is overall valid to stop him from any actions helping the Afghanistan asylum seekers by severing the invalid portion of the Act. HEADS OF POWER Defence Power: sections 2, 3, 4(1) (3) It appears that sections 2, 3 and 4(1) (3) may be supported by the Defence Power, under section 51(vi). Section 2 provides the objects of the ASIATIC Act. It states that the legislation s purposes, with respect to defence of the Commonwealth of Australia , to support any Australian Government agency and its members (s 2(i)), to control anti social behaviour interfering the policies for defence (s 2(ii)), to prevent the recurrence of the anti social behaviour (s 2(iii)), and associated the purposes (s 2(iv)). Dixon J stated that a law with respect to the defence power expresses connection to defence of the Commonwealth in its purpose or object, according to its purposive nature. • 9. Midsummer Night s Dream And Much Ado About Nothing Battle of the Sexes in MSND and Much Ado about Nothing In Shakespeare s comedies, A Midsummer Night s Dream and Much Ado about Nothing, a battle of the sexes is displayed in profound ways. Particularly in war between the female and male characters. Shakespeare plays with the idea of a battle between the genders throughout the two plays and even adds in whimsical fairies and potions to shake up the plot. In A Midsummer Night s Dream, Shakespeare showcases a battle between Theseus and Hippolyta. Hippolyta is not the meek and mild woman that many of her time would be. Instead, she is an Amazon woman who is fierce and strong. Shakespeare created Hippolyta to not conform to the gender roles of the time. At this time physical strength was associated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to not being able to choose her husband Hermia must run away to marry the man she loves. In this time, women were thought of as weaker than men and unable to make appropriate decisions for themselves.. This was thought to be due to the fact that women could not keep the four humours and elements in balance, partly because of menstruation. (McDonald pg. 254) Aristotle even made the assumption that the female of all animals in less fierce and takes care of the young more than the male. He used that example as a way to justify women being forced to stay home and perform the bulk of the childcare. The next battle is between Helena, Demetrius, and Lysander. Neither Demetrius nor Lysander love Helena so she wishes she were as fair as Hermia so that Demetrius might love her. Helena is desperate for Demetrius love and says, Use me but as your spaniel: spurn me, strike me,/ neglect me, lose me; only give me leave,/ Unworthy as I am, to follow you (Shakespeare 2.1.205 209). • 10. Essay on Sayo Masuda’s Autobiography of a Geisha Sayo Masuda s Autobiography of a Geisha Autobiography of a Geisha was originally written for a memoir competition run by the Japanese magazine Housewife s Companion. Sayo Masuda wrote and submitted her manuscript in hopes of winning the monetary prize offered. She won second place in the competition and came to the attention of an editor who helped her expand her story and publish it as a book. Riding on the wave of interest stirred by Arthur Golden s Memoirs of a Geisha, G. G. Rowley translated Sayo Masuda s tale for the American market. Rowley did an excellent job of capturing Masuda s voice in his translation. If English had been Masuda s native language, the result might easily have been Rowley s translation. Masuda s tale ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Readers will also come away with an understanding of the hot spring geisha s life, but caution should be taken. It is easy, as many critics have done, to presume that Masuda s tale is the unvarnished truth about the entire geisha world, rather than merely the unvarnished truth about a part of it. Reviewer Kimberly Shearer Palmer wrote that Autobiography of a Geisha resolves the ambiguity over whether or not geisha are prostitutes... [Masuda] leaves little doubt in the reader s mind that even the most talented geisha are forced to sleep with men for money, a fact glossed over in many accounts of the profession. (14). Palmer leaves little doubt in the minds of those who read her review that she takes Masuda s experiences of geisha life as true for all classes of geisha, regarding sources such as Mineko Iwasaki s Geisha, A Life as tainted. Many other reviewers follow in the same vein, calling reports of higher class geisha s lives romanticized (Napier) and Hollywood version[s] (Gavin). Perhaps these attitudes stem from a culture clash which prevents many Americans from understanding the differences between Japanese prostitutes and geisha, and the gradations within the flower and willow world. The tendency seems to be to lump all geisha together with the term prostitute, an attitude which is all too eager to use Masuda s biography to support generalized, culturally skewed assumptions about geisha. Last Hundred Days Analysis After collecting many statistics on the battle of WW1 (Battle of Ypres, Battle of Somme, Battle of Vimy Ridge, Battle of Passchendaele, and Battle of Last Hundred Days) I came to the conclusion that the battle of Hundred Days had the greatest number of Canadian casualties overall. After looking through the statistics of the casualties among Canadian soldiers throughout the following battles I saw that Canadas Hundred Days Battle had a substantially greater amount of wounded and dead soldiers compared to the battles of Ypres, Somme, Vimy Ridge, and Passchendaele. • 14. Analysis Of Brent Hartinger s The Author Brent Hartinger has written an interesting novel that explores the duality of man in reference to an individual s outward appearance compared to their inward appearance. A strong point of this novel is Middlebrow s willingness to explore new and exciting things, such as going The Geography Club A.K.A (The Gay Straight Alliance). A weak point of this novel is when Middlebrow meets random strangers online and engages in sexual activity. Teen s who are searching for their own identity may find Middlebrow s tale of not only discovering himself, but elevating himself extremely interesting. The plot of two teens hiding not only their true identity, but an entire Gay Straight Alliance club from their outside world, until they are labeled outcasts, proves to be the most interesting aspect of this novel. Although there are numerous good role models within this novel, I believe that Min s selfless actions of forming the The Geography Clubto offer a safe haven for homosexual students establish her as the novel s true role model. Since this novel deals with heavy drinking and extreme sexuality exploration, this novel should only be read by fifteen year olds to adults. During that period he carved several prophets for the Florentine Campanile, including the Zuccone (Baldhead), a vibrant characterization. In 1430 32, he went to Rome with Brunelleschi and became one of the first Renaissance artists interested in ancient monuments. Reflections of classical putti (male infants) can be found in his rendering of the lively cherubs in the Singing Gallery (1433 38, cathedral mus.) and in the pulpit at Prato. Classical influence is also evident in his bronze David (c.1432, Bargello), one of the earliest freestanding nude figures of the Renaissance. In demand throughout Italy, Donatello was invited to Padua in 1443, where he stayed for 10 years as the head of an enormous workshop. He designed the equestrian statue of Gattamelata (1447 53) and the high altar for Sant Antonio (1446 50). Upon his return to Florence, he carved the acutely expressive Magdalen (c.1460?, baptistery), which was greatly damaged by the flood of 1966. In his last years he worked on the pulpits of San Lorenzo, creating a magnificent series of reliefs. He was one of the most influential painters and sculptors of his time. Most of his works have remained in Florence, but a good representation can be seen in London s Victoria and Albert Museum. But most people don t know the science behind it or how imperative they really are. Today, I will tell you about this, the items they power, they re importance, and how they really work. A battery is a device that stores electrical energy in the form of chemical energy. When it comes to the use of batteries, they are imperative to most people s lives. They re used for practically everything like flashlights, watches, calculators, phones, laptops, and power tools. Bigger things include cars, trucks, buses, lawn mowers, wheel chairs, forklifts, trains, and satellites. So they re very important and even more important when you consider that they power smoke and carbon dioxide detectors. As said before, society is heavily impacted by batteries. Without them, everything would always need to be plugged in, or need to be charged. There d be lots of outlets and plugs without batteries. But how many important everyday items do we use that run on batteries? Well, there would be no such thing as wrist watches or flashlights or anything portable that runs on electricity. They trap excess heat from the sun s infrared radiation that would otherwise escape into space, much like a greenhouse is used to trap heat. When we drive our cars, and light, heat, and cool our homes, we generate greenhouse gases. Applying A Stress Management Schedule With the intention of managing stress, I decided to implement a stress management schedule, which I would continually develop, over the course of 11 weeks. With a focus on yoga, I hoped to gain an important insight on the valuable implications that proper stress management can have in my life. Improving my physical and emotional health can not only positively affect my own self, but also can positively affect the way I manage my own work life and relationships with others. Since being in college, I have felt as if I could not properly manage my daily tasks, while also taking time to myself. I constantly became stressed and anxious, with no sense of outlet. I decided to incorporate a stressmanagementtactic into my daily routine. As David Surrenda, dean of the Graduate School of Holistic Studies at John F. Kennedy University in California, described yoga in the International New York Times, as a, spiritual development practice to train the body and mind to self observe and become aware of their own nature. He later went on to describe how yoga affects each person by cultivating discernment, awareness, self regulation and higher consciousness, positively affecting multiple aspects of a persons life. Because of these reasons, I decided yoga could be the right fit for my personal development plan of managing stress. More specific stains seek to answer other questions specific to the patient s condition. For example, an Iron stain may be required in a patient who underwent a liver biopsy looking for a disease such as Hemochromatosis or other iron storage condition. Other types of special stains may be necessary to examine the tissue for infection. An example would be in a lung biopsy where the patient may have a fungus infection such as Aspergillous. A special stain of PAS /Light Green may be utilized to bring out the fungus if present which may not be evident on routine H E stains. In the 21st century, molecular markers are currently in vogue. These special stains are looking for the antibody to Estrogen or Progresterone in the patient s breast cancer tissue. If this is present, the Oncologist may treat the patient with certain drugs like Tamoxifin. Herceptin may be used in patient s who have a positive Her2neu antibody. This may be measured by standard immunohistochemistry as in Estrogen or Progesterone measurements. The alternative is to use a molecular testing to quantify the receptors of Her2neu receptors. Another example is the heavy use of symbolism throughout the song. In the beginning, the dying swan is a reference to an inevitable fate that the female sees coming for her relationship. In the second version, the lyrics imply that the male character is better off without her by contrasting the word light to mean the male and darkness to represent the female. • 49. The Relationship Between Divorce And Love In American... Today, divorce has become a common cultural and historical concern and an American way of life (Whitehead). This essay studies the relationship between divorce and love as presented in numerous realist literary works from the turn of the century, including A Modern Instance by William Dean Howells, Marry Me: A Romance by John Updike, and The Custom of the Country by Edith Wharton. Closely reviewing these novels, I examine love as well as divorce, which saw a remarkable increase between the years 1880 and 1920. Moving the topic of divorce to the forefront illuminates love in real life and helps us understand the ways in which these realists were actively participating in and engaging with the issues of society during their era, rather than exposing life as they saw it. In each of these novels, this old fashioned subject of love or romance is presented with a sort of sympathetic disdain, creating a tension in these texts rendered thematically by the disruptive subject of divorce and informed by contradictory beautiful and social priorities that shape an analysis of the present and the past on which it depends. A closer glimpse at divorce in American literature is captivating because love has played a central role in the history of literature as a whole. It has been demonstrated that love has served as a complex conceptual formal function in the development of literature through each era. Love and marriage have been pivotal to the plot and shape of literary works, serving as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
