This document discusses serverless storage and scale-out object storage appliances. It introduces the OpenIO SLS, a scale-out object storage appliance that uses a distributed storage software (SDS) platform. The SLS provides high performance, efficiency, and scalability through its architecture of many small ARM-based nano-nodes within a single 4U chassis, with no single point of failure and linear scalability by adding disks one by one. It aims to make scale-out object storage easy to deploy, manage and use for organizations of all kinds.
