To insert a picture into an OpenOffice document on Linux, place the cursor where the picture will go, select Insert > Picture > From File, choose the picture file and click Open. Then right-click the picture, select Type and check Keep ratio, enter the ideal height, select Crop and crop from sides until ideal size, select Wrap and click Optimal, right-click again and select Left alignment under Alignment.
