6. Human-Centered Design (HCD) is a process
and a set of techniques used to create new
solutions for the world. The HCD process
begins by examining the needs, dreams, and
behaviors of the people we want to affect
with our solutions. We seek to listen to and
understand what they want.
8. The process of Human-Centered Design starts
with a specific Design Challenge and goes
through three main phases: Hear, Create, and
Deliver. The process will move from concrete
observations about people, to abstract
thinking as one uncover insights and themes,
then back to the concrete with tangible
solutions.
9. HEAR
CREATE
(Inspiration)
PROBLEM
Collect stories and inspiration
from people. Prepare for and
conduct field research.
DELIVER
(Concepts)
INSIGHTS
Identify themes, opportunities.
Translate what you heard from
people into frameworks,
opportunities, concrete
solutions, and prototypes.
(Refinement)
PROTOTYPE
BUSINESS
MODEL
Realize your solutions through
rapid revenue and cost
modeling, capability assessment,
and implementation planning.
10. DESIRABILITY
What do people Desire?
VIABILITY
What can be financially viable?
FEASIBILITY
What is technically feasible?
USABILITY
What is readily usable by people?
The goal is to seek a Desirable, Usable, Feasible & Viable solution.
18. Remember
Everyone is a Designer
It’s a mindset
Knowledge is not everything
Unlearn
Fail to get success
Take Risk
Be Positive
Each problem is an opportunity
20. Human-centered design is about believing
you can make a difference. Human-centered
design gives you faith in your creative abilities
and a process for transforming difficult
challenges into opportunities for design.
