OM2
(Open Mind, Open Movement) Theory represents an integrative meta-theory of
psychology which investigates the most salient themes and trends in empirically supported
research, consolidating data from the medical, psychological, and sociological fields. Hence,
OM2
Theory attempts to provide a viable algorithm that encapsulates what comprises and
induces contentment for individuals, based on the consolidation of such statistically significant
data from such diverse interdisciplinary professional fields. Much research stemming from
these integrative roots perhaps do a decent job of explaining the mechanisms/processes
behind human behavior, however, do little or nothing to explain how human behavior can be
adapted to beget happiness. Hence, most historical psychological theories and medical models
are more pathology, rather than positive-based. As an alternative, OM2
Theory combines
Plutchick’s PsychoevolutionaryTheory of Basic Emotions, Rogers’ Humanistic Theory,
Greenbergs' Emotion Focused Therapy, Jungs' Existential Theory, Glasser's Choice Theory,
Gendlin’s Focusing - along with the most current and innovative medical research on health
and well-being - in order to pragmatically provide a simple, streamlined structure for
understanding and applying the ways in which individuals can ultimately experience true,
consistent happiness from literally a moment to moment basis – a universal algorithm. Hence,
these theories will be amalgamated in order to present this arrangement that offers guided
awareness of the basic facets of the human condition (e.g., thoughts, feelings, and actions)
along with awareness of one's physiological responses paired with the engendering of genuine,
healthy connections. Hence, the ability and willingness to knock down barriers and risk
personal vulnerability by being authentic and open suggests overall intimacy – and ultimately –
true happiness and sense of connection with oneself, as well as, important others, despite the
risk of loss and grief. True and transparent expression, however, can only feel comfortable and

2. safe provided the recipient is nonjudgmental of, and in fact, accepting of potentially painful
information. To clarify, authenticity can best be defined here as the openness to, acceptance
of, and free expression of experience. OM2
Theory, therefore, attempts to free mankind from
the shackles of oppressive socialization of shunning true connection and intimacy by proposing
and demonstrating that awareness and unconstrained expression of one’s true experience can
eventually overcome unnecessary suffering. Furthermore, such an integrative, simplified model
will be ultimately applied in pragmatic settings by offering optimal and affordable health
programs to individuals and families of all backgrounds. Everybody, after all, deserves to live a
healthy and happy lifestyle and OM2
