Ocular Science Personal Statement
Ocular science is a career that benefits all members of society and so plays a vital role within the community. Therefore I feel that studying
optometry at university will have a clear sense of purpose and will serve my interest within the science field. Biology has allowed me to appreciate
the complexity of the eye as well as the dynamic human functions that occur every single moment of our lives. It has also enabled me to see how the
body works together to fulfil a common function. Conducting experiments in Biology required me to work with delicate equipment that needed care
and attention to ensure accurate results were obtained. This knowledge combined with studying Psychology has provided me with the opportunity to
use research and human behaviour to further understand the workings of the brain. Psychological research also required statistical analysis to identify
findings which studying Mathematics has allowed me to do effectively. In addition to this Mathematics has also enabled me to detect problems and
think analytically to work towards a solution, this is a skill I use in all aspects... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was able to improve my versatility by firstly participating in a programme which allowed me to help struggling students in the lower years to
improve their reading and writing, and secondly by volunteering at Middlesex Hospital, where I assisted the elderly. During these appointments
patients were tested for any signs of ocular diseases related to diabetes. To further this knowledge I volunteered at Boots opticians. During this time I
shadowed an optician where I noticed a great deal of time goes into understanding the health and hygiene of wearing contact lenses, also paying
attention to particular details during eye assessments as the work was very intricate. I was able to see a patient with cataracts and the optician further
explained the disease. This gave me an insight into the biology behind

Childhood Sunglasses
Quality Sunglasses for Kids
Wearing glasses can be the ultimate fashion accessory when you choose the right pair to suit you and the kind of clothes you wear most. Children may
not be as interested as adults are in the fashion aspect of sunglasses. But because kids spend much more time outdoors than most adults one of the most
important factors when to choosing sunglasses is protection. Being assured that one's eyes are protected from the sun's ultra–violet rays is essential.
These rays can cause damage to the eyes and are linked to many different types of eye disease, so they should be avoided at all costs through the use
of high quality kids' sunglasses.
What's the perfect Sunglass Lens Color
It's always better to consult an optician, but as long as your optician certifies that the lenses block 100 percent of the sun's UV rays. The level of
UV protection sunglasses provide has nothing to do with the color of the lenses, but polar optic sunglasses are now popular nowadays, because it
actually provides a filtering system for glare. Any light reflecting off of a flat surface, such as a lake, creates an intense glare produced by horizontal
light wave patterns. These horizontal waves are blocked by polarized lenses that help reduce the glare and resulting eyestrain. Polar eyes fit ... Show

Aviators and Wayfarers are kids fashion sunglasses style that should work for most people. Sportier styles like Oakley wraparounds for kids sport

can have prescription sunglasses lenses put into them, but if I were in the market for prescription sunglasses are perfect for kid since they like running

Optometry Personal Statement
Whilst researching potential courses that would best suit me I discovered that optometry was of great interest. Shadowing an optician further increased
my interest in optometry as I observed that an optician meets different people every day which makes every working day different for them.
Studying A level Biology and Chemistry has taught me the scientific knowledge required to studyoptometry. Handling harmful chemicals and
measuring precise amounts of those chemicals has improved my accuracy skills and attention to detail. Analysing data during biology and maths
lessons has helped improve my interpretation and analytical skills. Studying A level maths has improved my problem solving skills, which will come
into use for the problem based learning element of the degree course. Furthermore, my Health and Social Care course has taught me essential

Communication is a key skill for opticians as I have observed that opticians communicate with different people every day from their patients to their
colleagues. Furthermore, opticians need to be organised and be able to manage their time effectively due to the number of appointments they will have
on a day to day basis.
I have spent a year volunteering at a primary school and an additional year working as a business administrator in the same school. This has showed
me how to deal with children of different ages which I believe is vital for an optometrist as they too will be treating children daily. Working as a
business administrator has improved my organisational skills and communication skills, as I communicate with different type of people every day. I

Regulate Health Profession Act
RHPA stands for Regulated Health Profession Act. The Act sets out the mandate and governing framework for all regulated health Colleges and

In order to regulate the profession act and protect the public. The regulate health profession act (RHPA) also have listed a number of clinical
procedures that have potentially cause harm to the patients if they are not performed on time by the dispenser. All the registered Opticians in
Ontario are governed by the COO, they can only dispense subnormal vision devices, contact lenses or eye glasses under the authority of the
prescription of an optometrist or physician. The consequences of breaking the Regulated Health Profession Act can cause the optician or
ophthalmologist to lose their license or pay a fine. For example if an optician gives a kid wrong prescription lenses. it will only cause the kid to have
blurrier vision and might even worsen his eye sight, or if the ophthalmologist gave a wrong diagnoses of an eye infection to the customer can cause
them loss of their vision. In my opinion, I think the Regulated Health Profession Act (RHPA) is a good law for every profession in the healthcare
industry because this act protects the patients from any kind of harm such as it protect them from sexual abuse, discrimination, racism, and from being
wrongly diagnoses. This act also gives the colleges an outline on what to teach the students in handling the patients and serving them according to their

The main street was closed off due to heavy construction, however, the parking lot was full. The business was positioned in a small strip mall between
a real estate office, fast food restaurant, and yogurt shop. There were many patrons of various cultures and ages. They were entering and leaving the

"Qualitative research focuses on gaining insight and understanding about an individual's perception of events" (Nieswiadomy, 2012). There are six
common qualitative designs: phenomenological, ethnographic, grounded theory, historical, case study, and action research. Phenomenological studies
are based on human "lived" experiences and what the experience means to the person being studied. The researcher has to put aside their own personal
ideas or belief systems in order for them to be able to concentrate on the person in the study. Ethnographic studies which was used in this study, the
researchers went in to the "field" to observe people of various cultures and ethnicities interacting together in their own environment. "Ethnographers

Examples Of Medical Malpractice
Medical Malpractice: Michael Chambers informs you about everything you need to know
Medical malpractice is an example of negligence that may cause a severe personal injury or death. Precisely, medical malpractice denotes a legal
offense that happens if a medical professional does not perform his or her duties properly due to negligence. As it has been pointed out before, the
result of medical negligence is injury or death. Medical professionals include doctors, nurses, dentists, chiropractors, opticians, pharmacists etc.
In Cyprus, medical malpractice is covered by the civil law (Cap.148). However, many times, a medical malpractice case in Cyprus considers a dispute
over the 'standard of care'. The term 'standard of care' denotes the level of skill, expertise and care practiced by medical professionals under some
particular circumstances. In Cyprus, 'standard of care' is often determined through consultations from medical professionals who practice or teach
medicine in the same specialty as the defendant. The expert's testimony is essential since a lack of recovery or injury does not imply that the 'standard
of care' has not been followed.

Optician Personal Statement
Optometry; all my strengths encompassed into a profession. The reason why I want to become an optician is due to the combination of science and to
benefit our generation by nurturing our sense of vision.
Volunteering for Vista at the Duchess of Rutland's annual garden party was insightful. It permitted me to build confidence with the company and meet
other opticians to listen to their dedication to their jobs. Being approachable in the meet and greet made a large profit for the event. Sitting in at a staff
training event at Specsavers where glaucoma, macular degeneration and flashes and floaters were all discussed has informed me greatly about potential
problems with patients that are vital; going through protocols and information about many worst case scenarios that frequently occur, giving me
knowledge of these issues which I can translate throughout my studies.
Academically, I strive to heighten my potential, since secondary school acquiring recognition and awards in Science, Technology and History;

Personal Narrative : Why Optometry?
Why Optometry? It's the question that has been asked ever since I gained in interest for this profession and it is still being asked to this day. I want
to become an optometrist simply because I love what this profession has to offer. My desire to pursue optometry stems from my passion to help others
and putting others before myself, and becoming an optometrist would allow me to continue to do so while improving the quality of life. After working
at an optometry office, volunteering at a clinic, and shadowing multiple doctors, I can't see myself doing anything else than being an optometrist.
I first developed an interest towards optometry due to its intimate interaction between doctor and patient. As a child, there was nothing more I
disliked than going to the doctor's office especially if I thought my eyes were going to get poked and prodded at. But after my first visit to an
optometrist, I didn't mind the doctor getting close to my eyes. The doctor was not only friendly but was reassuring and explained things in a way that
I can easily understand. What I thought would be a horrifying examination was made pleasant and tolerable. Although the exam was no longer than
half an hour, the experience I had in the exam room sparked my initial interest in pursuing optometry as a professional career. My enthusiasm for
optometry further developed as I volunteered at a local optometry office and shadowed under Dr. Michael Tran. Before this, I thought examinations

What Opticians Do
Opticians are particular specialists who constructs, fits and apportions lenses for an individual's vision. Opticians confirm the requirements of different
ophthalmic machines that will give the important remedy to an individual's visual perception. Some enrolled or authorized Opticians additionally plan
and design unique apparatuses to improve nonessential, traumatic or anatomical deformities. These apparatuses are labeled as shells or fake eyes.
Other enrolled or authorized Opticians produce lenses to their own qualifications and configuration and assemble spectacle frames and different gadgets.
Opticians advice people when they pick the casings for their glasses in their preferred taste and colour that suits them best. They inform clients on the
fit regarding specific frames. They may be excessively huge for the individual's face, or too wide. Assuming that they fit well, opticians slice or
granulate lenses consistent with the client's prescription, then fit them into the preferred frames.
The point when clients incline toward contact lenses, opticians must take more intricate assessments of the eyes. The shape and size of the eye
influence what kind of contact lens is required. Opticians educate clients how to implant and extract contact lenses, and also to tend to them.
Opticians are employed in various diverse settings. They may be situated in medical work places or small businesses, or they may be in an expansive

Personal Statement For Optometry

Chapter 2: Generating and Protecting Business Ideas
Case Study – What a Spectacle!

1. A Franchise is when a franchisor of a business gives the franchisee of another business the right to supply its product or service under the same
brand identity. Specsavers is a very successful franchise for example.
2. Apart from franchising, two sources of business ideas are identifying a market niche which involves noticing that something is missing from the
market or that can be improved on. Also spotting trends and anticipating their impact which involves creating or develop a product or service to suit
patterns or trends in the market.
3. The first benefit of Stephen Halpin taking on a boots franchise business is that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, opening a Boots franchise is a high risk as the original Boots was obviously not making enough money to survive and Halpin is opening
under the same business name so the chances of gaining a reasonably high profit from selling the same products and services is unlikely. Glasses
Direct was at a high risk as Murray Wells is only 22 and still at university and so he started the business through his ВЈ1000 student loan. This means
that he has to earn enough to gain a profit allowing the business to survive as well as paying off his student loan. Finally, Glasses Direct is an online
store and so Murray doesn't have to pay rent or electric bills meaning that overall he had lower outflows than Halpin because Halpin has to pay rent
and electricity bills.
6. The web–based, Glasses Direct business may have more potential to grow than a Boots franchise as Halpin can make his own decisions about the
business allowing further growth. Also selling online means that he can sell his products globally but the cost of delivery and advertising will
increase. Furthermore, Murray has the choice to add new suppliers to sell a different range of products unlike boots because in the franchise
agreement all Boots stores have to sell the same products. Also, Glasses Direct sell much

A Career Research Paper
I was raised with the idea that anyone can have a job, but not everyone can have a career or permanent profession. I have even passed this belief to
my own children as they grow into adulthood and further their education. As a young adult, I have worked as an optician and waited on tables.
While I was grateful to always have steady work, I still knew that I was capable of more. I was convinced I could have a career and not just a job.
Although working as an optician and waiting tables share similarities, they are remarkably different in terms of educational requirements, salary, and
work–life balance. Educational requirements share no similarity. Becoming an optician is a 5–step process, which continues throughout one's... Show

According to Salary.com, the average pay for an optician is $41,684 compared to $25,115 annually for a waitress. An individual can manage paying
bills and living on either salary, but having financial stability will come from an optician salary. Finally, the jobs are different in terms of hours
worked. Having to work 40 hours a week Monday thru Friday as an optician required little or no overtime, a non–stressful environment and a clean
workplace. More importantly allowing time for things such as; the beach, dinning out and continuing my education. Waitressing required late night
shifts and weekends totaling 50 hours or more. Consisting of; stressful and loud surroundings, along with tedious back breaking clean–ups. In
conclusion, choosing a career as an optician proved to be most beneficial. It provides me with a secure financial future, as well as a healthy work–life
balance. Looking back on the last 23 years, I have come to realize that my opportunities and room for growth are endless. Working as an Optician
supplies the brain with an abundance of medical knowledge. Parts of the Human Eye, Cornea, Iris, Conjunctiva and reflective light in and out of the
Retina. Waitressing provides no valuable knowledge aside from how many types of beer there is, what type of food the restaurant offers. That may be
food for thought, but not fuel for the brain. As I move forward with my career and continuing education, I think to myself a career as a waitress would
not have been so

Ophthalmic Dispensing Personal Statement
To me the gift of sight is one of the most significant features of an individuals' life. It is through the eyes in which the world is seen, memories are
made, and without it many experiences and prospects are lost, which is why I think it is so vital. My passion for Ophthalmic Dispensing started
at a young age when I received my first pair of glasses. From that moment on I was so intrigued at the idea that two pieces of glass and a piece of
plastic could impact an individual's life so drastically; also the difference it made to an individual's quality of life. Studying English Literature AS
has had a positive impact on my analytical and evaluating skills which I believe will be useful for this course. The AS level involved writing
numerous essays and coursework, which allowed me to improve on my writing and organisation skills. Due to this I know that I will be an advantage
for me when it comes to completing the coursework involved in Ophthalmic Dispensing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

helps me release stress as well as providing health benefits. I also gained a Volunteer Passport award for volunteering at a local charity which

Optometry is a profession, which requires several skills which are used throughout ones career. An example of such a skill needed by an optometrist,
is the ability to put patients at ease swiftly yet caringly. It is one of the few careers, which can care for a person from the cradle to the grave. There is
constant one on one interaction involved with people and this requires great communication skills.
I have had the opportunity to spend two weeks at an opticians. This consisted of helping on the main reception desk and therefore dealing with all sorts

During my Sixth Form, I have attended a number of courses. In March, I participated in a Leadership weekend where we were taken to unfamiliar
surroundings and were allocated into groups of people whom we had never met before. This was very challenging, as I had to quickly learn to work
as a team member with people I did not know. The weekend was full of mental and physical challenges in which it was adamant that we were able to
work together constructively as a team to succeed in all the tasks. During this leadership weekend, I acquired skills that enabled me to hold positions
of responsibility. For example,
I was in charge of the maps and equipment and was nominated leader for some of the activities. I think that the skills that I did learn will prove a
valuable asset to my possible career in optometry as I am more confident and comfortable with new people, which is an adamant skill. As an
optometrist this is very important as it is a necessity to be able to put people at ease.
I have also recently attended a Challenge of Management course. All of the people were allocated into random groups. To succeed in the challenge,
teamwork was vital and we won the market, making a profit

Over half the people in the United States wear glasses or contact lenses. Optometrist, also known as "Eye Doctors" or "O.D.'s, have to provide there

All States and the District of Columbia require that optometrists be licensed, which requires a Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited
optometry school and passing both a written and a clinical State board examination. Licenses are renewed every one to three years and in all states,
continuing education credits are needed for renewal. The Doctor of Optometry degree requires a four–year program proceeded by at least 3 years of

Employment growth will be fastest in retail optical stores and out patient clinics. Employment of optometrists would grow more rapidly were it not for
anticipated productivity gains that will allow each optometrist to see more patients. These gains will result from greater use of optometry assistants and
other support personnel, and the introduction of new equipment and procedures. New surgical procedures using lasers are available that can correct
some vision problems, but they remain expensive. In addition to growth, the need to re lace optometrists who leave the occupation will create
employment opportunities. Relatively few opportunities from this source are expected, however, because most optometrists continue to practice until
they retire; few transfer to other occupations.
Optometrists held about 38,000 jobs in 1998. The number of jobs is greater than the number of practicing optometrists because some optometrists hold
two or more jobs. For example, an optometrist may have a private practice, but also work in another practice, clinic, or vision care center. According to
the American Optometric Association, about two–thirds of practicing optometrists are in private practice. Although many optometrists practice alone, a
growing number are in a partnership or group practice. Some optometrists work as salaried employees of other optometrists or of ophthalmologists,

Non Medical Prescribing Essay
Introduction
What is non–medical prescribing?
"Non–medical prescribing is prescribing which is taken by a health professional who is not a doctor" (Non–medical prescribing 2012).To become a
non–medical prescriber the relevant training must be undertaken to ensure the patients' safety is most important. The health care professional who is
the non–medical prescribers is only legally allowed to prescribe within their area of expertise and they must remain competent within that area, through
maintenance of various continuing education and training programmes.
Background to prescribing

Therefore, the optometrist was not permitted to manage, any eye condition even if the eye condition was minor and non–sight threatening (General
Optical Council 1999).
In 1999, there were amendments to the Optician's Act. The amendments aimed to provide optometrists with a wider scope of practice, which allowed
them to have limited clinical management of non– sight–threatening conditions such as allergic and infective conjunctivitis. It was thought that this
might have helped to reduce the burden on the National Health Service. (GOC rules and regulations. (2017)).
However, whilst optometrists could manage these conditions, they had to always record the clinical situation and the advice that was given to the
patient within the patient's record, as well as making the patient's medical practitioner aware of what action was taken. This is to ensure good practice
and to legally protect ourselves, as well as being a GOC requirement. "The decision whether to manage or refer is currently based on the judgement of
the optometrist, taking into account the patient's personal circumstances and clinical needs". (Needle, J.

Blurred Health Case Study Isma
The case study I have chosen is based on a 50 year old female Isma Begum. She has complained of blurred vision, being lethargic, increased urination
and, urethral discomfort. All of these symptoms are indicators of type 2 diabetes. According to NHS diabetes is a condition which causes blood sugar
levels to rise too high. Hyperglycaemia is an acute condition which causes the blood sugar levels to get too high whereas, diabetes as a whole is a
chronic illness as it can only be treated and not cured. This is caused by insufficient insulin or, not enough insulin being produced to breakdown
glucose into energy. The blurred vision that Isma has complained of, can be due to fluids leaking causing the eye to swell which has an impact on
eyesight. On ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Medical model of health focuses on identifying and treating conditions and in addition to this, it prevents further complications. Within my
chosen case study Isma has complained of many different symptoms, the medical model ensures that professionals take this into account and draw
a conclusion from what they know. Treating means giving treatment necessary which I have discussed, as Isma is a type 2 diabetic she will most
likely require medication and lifestyle changes. Also, diabetics can experience a wide range of conditions caused by diabetes, for example
coronary heart disease. This is because high blood sugar levels can have an impact on someone's artery walls, diabetics have a higher chance of
building up fatty deposits in the arteries. It is specifically dangerous because it affects the arteries which provide the heart with oxygen rich blood.
Therefore if this supply is limited, it can lead to the development of coronary heart disease which can then cause heart attack as well as angina. This
model will therefore help prevent this from happening as it solely focuses on physical health and, in diabetes physical health is extremely important.
In addition, the medical model tries to help the person get physically health and get their health to the state it was before the illness. Meaning that a
lot will be done to help a diabetic such as Isma feel normal and healthy. Lastly, it would be the most effective to use as the governments gives a lot of
money to help fund medication and equipment needed in hospital and GP surgeries for

Ocular Science Personal Statement

  • 1. Ocular Science Personal Statement Ocular science is a career that benefits all members of society and so plays a vital role within the community. Therefore I feel that studying optometry at university will have a clear sense of purpose and will serve my interest within the science field. Biology has allowed me to appreciate the complexity of the eye as well as the dynamic human functions that occur every single moment of our lives. It has also enabled me to see how the body works together to fulfil a common function. Conducting experiments in Biology required me to work with delicate equipment that needed care and attention to ensure accurate results were obtained. This knowledge combined with studying Psychology has provided me with the opportunity to use research and human behaviour to further understand the workings of the brain. Psychological research also required statistical analysis to identify findings which studying Mathematics has allowed me to do effectively. In addition to this Mathematics has also enabled me to detect problems and think analytically to work towards a solution, this is a skill I use in all aspects... I was able to improve my versatility by firstly participating in a programme which allowed me to help struggling students in the lower years to improve their reading and writing, and secondly by volunteering at Middlesex Hospital, where I assisted the elderly. During these appointments patients were tested for any signs of ocular diseases related to diabetes. To further this knowledge I volunteered at Boots opticians. During this time I shadowed an optician where I noticed a great deal of time goes into understanding the health and hygiene of wearing contact lenses, also paying attention to particular details during eye assessments as the work was very intricate. I was able to see a patient with cataracts and the optician further explained the disease. This gave me an insight into the biology behind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Childhood Sunglasses Quality Sunglasses for Kids Wearing glasses can be the ultimate fashion accessory when you choose the right pair to suit you and the kind of clothes you wear most. Children may not be as interested as adults are in the fashion aspect of sunglasses. But because kids spend much more time outdoors than most adults one of the most important factors when to choosing sunglasses is protection. Being assured that one's eyes are protected from the sun's ultra–violet rays is essential. These rays can cause damage to the eyes and are linked to many different types of eye disease, so they should be avoided at all costs through the use of high quality kids' sunglasses. What's the perfect Sunglass Lens Color It's always better to consult an optician, but as long as your optician certifies that the lenses block 100 percent of the sun's UV rays. The level of UV protection sunglasses provide has nothing to do with the color of the lenses, but polar optic sunglasses are now popular nowadays, because it actually provides a filtering system for glare. Any light reflecting off of a flat surface, such as a lake, creates an intense glare produced by horizontal light wave patterns. These horizontal waves are blocked by polarized lenses that help reduce the glare and resulting eyestrain. Polar eyes fit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Studying A level Biology and Chemistry has taught me the scientific knowledge required to studyoptometry. Handling harmful chemicals and measuring precise amounts of those chemicals has improved my accuracy skills and attention to detail. Analysing data during biology and maths lessons has helped improve my interpretation and analytical skills. The regulate health profession act (RHPA) also have listed a number of clinical procedures that have potentially cause harm to the patients if they are not performed on time by the dispenser. All the registered Opticians in Ontario are governed by the COO, they can only dispense subnormal vision devices, contact lenses or eye glasses under the authority of the prescription of an optometrist or physician. The consequences of breaking the Regulated Health Profession Act can cause the optician or ophthalmologist to lose their license or pay a fine. For example if an optician gives a kid wrong prescription lenses. it will only cause the kid to have blurrier vision and might even worsen his eye sight, or if the ophthalmologist gave a wrong diagnoses of an eye infection to the customer can cause them loss of their vision. In my opinion, I think the Regulated Health Profession Act (RHPA) is a good law for every profession in the healthcare industry because this act protects the patients from any kind of harm such as it protect them from sexual abuse, discrimination, racism, and from being wrongly diagnoses. • 9. Examples Of Medical Malpractice Medical Malpractice: Michael Chambers informs you about everything you need to know Medical malpractice is an example of negligence that may cause a severe personal injury or death. Precisely, medical malpractice denotes a legal offense that happens if a medical professional does not perform his or her duties properly due to negligence. As it has been pointed out before, the result of medical negligence is injury or death. Medical professionals include doctors, nurses, dentists, chiropractors, opticians, pharmacists etc. In Cyprus, medical malpractice is covered by the civil law (Cap.148). However, many times, a medical malpractice case in Cyprus considers a dispute over the 'standard of care'. The term 'standard of care' denotes the level of skill, expertise and care practiced by medical professionals under some particular circumstances. In Cyprus, 'standard of care' is often determined through consultations from medical professionals who practice or teach medicine in the same specialty as the defendant. The expert's testimony is essential since a lack of recovery or injury does not imply that the 'standard of care' has not been followed. Michael ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 16. Personal Narrative : Why Optometry? Why Optometry? It's the question that has been asked ever since I gained in interest for this profession and it is still being asked to this day. I want to become an optometrist simply because I love what this profession has to offer. My desire to pursue optometry stems from my passion to help others and putting others before myself, and becoming an optometrist would allow me to continue to do so while improving the quality of life. After working at an optometry office, volunteering at a clinic, and shadowing multiple doctors, I can't see myself doing anything else than being an optometrist. I first developed an interest towards optometry due to its intimate interaction between doctor and patient. As a child, there was nothing more I disliked than going to the doctor's office especially if I thought my eyes were going to get poked and prodded at. But after my first visit to an optometrist, I didn't mind the doctor getting close to my eyes. The doctor was not only friendly but was reassuring and explained things in a way that I can easily understand. What I thought would be a horrifying examination was made pleasant and tolerable. Although the exam was no longer than half an hour, the experience I had in the exam room sparked my initial interest in pursuing optometry as a professional career. My enthusiasm for optometry further developed as I volunteered at a local optometry office and shadowed under Dr. Michael Tran. Before this, I thought examinations were as simple as ... They may be excessively huge for the individual's face, or too wide. Assuming that they fit well, opticians slice or granulate lenses consistent with the client's prescription, then fit them into the preferred frames. The point when clients incline toward contact lenses, opticians must take more intricate assessments of the eyes. The shape and size of the eye influence what kind of contact lens is required. A Franchise is when a franchisor of a business gives the franchisee of another business the right to supply its product or service under the same brand identity. Specsavers is a very successful franchise for example. 2. Apart from franchising, two sources of business ideas are identifying a market niche which involves noticing that something is missing from the market or that can be improved on. This means that he has to earn enough to gain a profit allowing the business to survive as well as paying off his student loan. Finally, Glasses Direct is an online store and so Murray doesn't have to pay rent or electric bills meaning that overall he had lower outflows than Halpin because Halpin has to pay rent and electricity bills. 6. The web–based, Glasses Direct business may have more potential to grow than a Boots franchise as Halpin can make his own decisions about the business allowing further growth. Also selling online means that he can sell his products globally but the cost of delivery and advertising will increase. Treating means giving treatment necessary which I have discussed, as Isma is a type 2 diabetic she will most likely require medication and lifestyle changes. Also, diabetics can experience a wide range of conditions caused by diabetes, for example coronary heart disease. This is because high blood sugar levels can have an impact on someone's artery walls, diabetics have a higher chance of building up fatty deposits in the arteries.
