Orewa College introduced a one-to-one device program that required all Year 9 students to bring an iPad to school. Previously, the school had an open wireless network but few students brought devices or changed how they taught. Requiring iPads aimed to better prepare students for a technology-focused world by increasing access to computers. However, recommending iPads was a bold decision for a state school. The keys to success included professional development for teachers, technical support, and public relations to explain the program.
