2. Observing the Unfamiliar – The Tool
It was mid-term break of my University and I was free to clean up my room
myself. The desk of my room was untidy and I planned to take out everything from the
drawer and arranged my things again. Suddenly, I saw something that was eye catching,
there is a blue round shaped Swatch watch which was placed in a transparent box. I
had a very strong feeling with this watch. I did not even remember where did it came
from. I thought this watch was given by an important person. My curiosity made me
started to observe the watch. The watch was still looked good with a little bit of
scratches on it and the wristband looked a bit darker because of the dirty substances.
There was an interesting part of this watch, it had a blue reflective flat surface. When
there was penetration of light, it reflected like a shining star. This watch seems like it
was very meaningful to me.
After observing the watch, I felt like wanted to wear it although it was very old
and I did not wear watch for a long time. The watch was very light and the texture of the
wristband was smooth. It looked good when it was on my hand. Then, I realized that it
wasn’t that bad to wear a watch in my daily life. Besides, it can train me a punctual
person. So, I determined to wear it daily since I found it from my drawer. On the second
day, the weather was extremely cold. My hands were so cold and cannot even move
properly. After that, I tried to put my watch on my left hand and it reduced the coldness
of my hand. I was surprised that an ordinary watch can do such a great job. It made my
hand warm and comfortable. Moreover, I explored my watch had a unique function. I
tried to put it under the sun, it started to absorb the sunlight which was penetrated into it.
There were some ambient light appeared in the second and minute hand of the watch. I

3. knew that it was very normal for every watches, I tried to knock its sealed glass surface
by my finger. The ambient light seems became brighter. I was shocked and I realised
this function was able to let the users got to see the time properly under a bright sun.
Other than that, I wore it for sport. The wristband absorbed my sweat because it was
made by plastic material. It started to smell rotten after having my sport but the sweat
can be washed away. The design and material used of this watch were just great.
In addition, I tried to figure out how to adjust the date of the watch. There was no
buttons for adjusting the date, so in tried to pull the crown of the watch out until it
produced 2 times of click sounds. After that, I pushed the crown back to the actual
position and started to turn it. The date of the watch started to change. It was quite
special to adjust the date. The colour of this watch always made me happy because the
colour was bright and soft. When I stared at it, the colour chilled me and nothing can
distract me. Then, I started to think about some crazy stuff. I tried to use the wristband
to hit myself and it was painful. A great idea came into my mind, I was thinking I could
use my watch as my new weapon to punish the people who were not sincere to me.
How great was that!
In conclusion, I could not deny this swatch watch was a good buddy for me. It
brought me a lot of fun although it was an ordinary watch to others. Besides, it changed
my attitude to become a person who did not waste time. I cherish what did the watch
contributed to me and thanked to the person who bought me this watch. This watch
made my life became more brilliant and meaningful.
