Before you enter the store:

Does the store draw you in? If so, how?

Not really; usually just a name of the store…boring

Is the door open or closed?

Closed – it is winter after all (would be closed anyway since opens automatically)

How does this make you feel?

It is OK – open doors would be nice but it would be cold inside.

How big is the sign lettering and in what font?

Big or small – depends on the store. Usually bold letters.

What does it tell you about the store?

Really nothing.



Environment:

What is the color scheme of the store? How does this affect you?

Mostly white – I am not sure how it affects me.

What type of floor does the store have? How does this effect the environment?

Hard cement to make carts go. It’s cold. Carpet in the mall feels good.

How high is the ceiling? How does this feel?

Higher ceiling feels like a construction site  I prefer lower.

How brightly lit is the store? How does this affect you?
It is bright. I like it.

How loud is the environment?

Music – I like it. Nothing in grocery store.

What is causing the noise?

No noise or Music played.

Is there music playing? If so, does it fit the environment?

Yes, it does. It fits clothing store.

Is the store warm or cold?

Warm – clothing store. Cold – groceries.

Is the store crowed with merchandise or is it sparse?

Crowded.

Does the store have a distinctive smell?

Not really.

Where is the cash register located?

By the entrance- grocery stores. Inside in department stores.

How visible is the store security?
Not
How long do you want to stay in this store?
I hate shopping.
Does the environment influence the perceived value of the merchandise?
I think so. Grocery store says: cheap. Clothing stores: expensive.

Personnel:

How long does it take before a sales person initiates contact?
No contact or right at the entrance.
Does the salesperson have a script to follow with each customer?
I think so.
Does the salesperson treat different customers differently?
I do not think so.
What is the ratio of salespeople to customers?
It was pretty empty.
What age and gender are the employees?
20s females
Are the salespeople using the store products?
No.
Do the salespeople have a uniform?
Yes
Do the salespeople match the stores image?
Yes

Mostly yes.

It varies – it was hard to measure.

They do – nobody cared.
Do most customers appear to be on a mission or are they browsing?
Browsing but mostly on mission in grocery store.
What percent of customers purchase products in the store?
Really hard to measure but 100% in grocery store.
