One daybreak in the fringes I sat,
A news paper at hand. ‘twas so flat.
I peek across its pages and scan;
Ghastly news flooded… except this one.
Words were just right and awe-inspiring,
Messages – so poignant and stirring.
Flickering smiles, images seem pleased,
Black and white tint, framed-designs was placed.
Septuagenarians and late twenties,
Octogenarians and mid-fifties.
Some were too young to bid a goodbye,
Others were so old, no need to ask why.
Memories – reminisced and cherished,
A kind of love that’d never perished.
Such gesture from a love so sweet –
Will make a serene and happy death.
While this moment you might think I’m weird,
I’ll let you know that huge change it’d made.
Obituary page taught me to live –
The way I want to be remembered.
