My slides from session "OneDrive for Business 101 - what it is for and what is not" from Office 365 - SharePoint Saturday Copenhagen 12th March 2016.
Back to the basics of OneDrive for Business, why it was created, and where it is now and where it's might go. Interestingly the auditorium was quite busy and the audience had some good questions to debate on the subject which proved the confusion brought by the product suite.
SPS Monaco 2017 - The Lay of the Land of Client-Side Development circa 2017Marc D Anderson
Are you dazzled by all the noises you hear about client-side development? Do the grunts and gulps leave you a little confused? In this session, we’ll talk about the types of things you can do with client-side development, how SharePoint can be used as a service (SPaaS?) and what the popular tool sets are. This are moving fast, so it's guaranteed that between writing this abstract and doing the session, things will have changed.
Whether you’re a server-side developer who wants to catch up with the new trends, a power user wanting to flex your muscles in new ways, or an end user who would like to speak more intelligently with IT, this session will provide useful foundation information as well as a guide to where your learning should progress to work with "modern" SharePoint.
SharePointFest Konferenz 2016 - Alternative Approaches to Solution Developmen...Marc D Anderson
We regularly hear about the importance of building Apps or Add-Ins from the Microsoft folks. But in many cases, that approach is overkill. Even in enterprises, all solutions aren’t enterprise scale. It’s always been possible to build solid solutions or solution components using the trusty Content Editor Web Part to hold some HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, and that’s still a viable approach. With a few other more modern tricks, we can even build solutions that span many pages using a common code base.
Join Marc D Anderson as he kicks around the plusses and minuses of sanctioned development versus smaller, lighter-touch approaches.
We all know there are great challenges in implementing existing \ customization features within the SharePoint platform, not only by the complexity, but also by how we conduct our features, content types and everything around it "What do YOU use to develop in SharePoint?" It is the question I am asked most often. In this awesome session get to know some of tools that SharePoint Developers usually use to help and speed up the development process.

B5 - Introduction à Microsoft Flow - Isabelle Van Campenhoudt, Sabrine chouk,...SPS Paris
SPFx- A modern development model for SharePointKirti Prajapati
SharePoint Framework (SPFx) promoted as "the future of SharePoint development" has been released in developer preview. The framework might be new, but that is a framework that we all have been longing for quite some time. Client-side development has been here for years and we all built our own frameworks. This model leverages techniques we are used to such as CSOM, the SharePoint REST API's, the Microsoft Graph etc. and at the same time embraces open source technologies such as node.js, Gulp, Yeoman and more.
I will talk about SharePoint Development Model Evolution and demonstrate use of Light Weight Components with SPFx by developing client side Web Parts.

Generating a custom Ruby SDK for your web service or Rails API using Smithyg2nightmarescribd
Have you ever wanted a Ruby client API to communicate with your web service? Smithy is a protocol-agnostic language for defining services and SDKs. Smithy Ruby is an implementation of Smithy that generates a Ruby SDK using a Smithy model. In this talk, we will explore Smithy and Smithy Ruby to learn how to generate custom feature-rich SDKs that can communicate with any web service, such as a Rails JSON API.
Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

What to know before you deploy (Part 1)
• The OneDrive client is preinstalled on all Windows 10 devices!
• OneDriveSetup.exe is included in all Office 2016 builds
• OneDrive is deployed as an .exe, not an MSI
• But wait, my organization deploys MSIs, not .exes!
• Don’t worry, we’ll show you how.
• OneDriveSetup.exe must run with elevated permissions
• This is so we can access the local machine registry and install icon overlays.

What to know before you deploy (Part 2)
• OneDriveSetup.exe installs only for the current logged on user
• That’s a pain. Why can’t we install once per machine?
• OneDrive is installed under a user’s %localappdata%Microsoft folder, not C:Program files. Installing per
user lets the OneDrive client seamlessly receive updates without requiring elevation.
This ensure users have the highest quality builds and access to new features. We’ll show you how you can
install per user with SCCM.
• OneDrive.exe must run in the user context
• OneDrive.exe runs in the context of the user in which is was invoked.
If OneDrive.exe is launched with elevation, Windows is going going to run as if it were the admin.
Which is a problem if the current user isn’t the admin!
