NVFS HistoryNVFS was established in 1924 by volunteers in Alexandria who noticed that children in their community had no coats and their families had no coal to heat their homes. They addressed those basic, but critically important needs. Over 85 years later, NVFS continues to address the needs of many communities in our region with a wide range of programs that adapt and respond to current day needs.

Scout troopsLast year over 1,500 volunteers donated over 53,447 hours at a value of $1.2 million
NVFS ClientsNearly 60% of the families we serve make less than $20,000 each year.42% of the nearly 33,000 clients served each year are children.
