Borrowing Privileges   The following privileges are extended to Faculty and University Staff: Limit of 100 items. Books, microforms, and government documents may be borrowed for one year. Bound periodicals may be circulated for three days; Current periodicals are due at 5 p.m. the day borrowed. Off Campus Access to the Libraries’ Electronic Resources Much of the information on the library website is accessible off campus without any special login.  To access databases and electronic journals you need to authenticate using your PODs username and password. Interlibrary Loan (ILL) - ILLiad Materials not owned by the Libraries may be obtained from other state, national or international libraries.  Articles are delivered electronically to your ILLiad account.  Emails notify you when ILL items are available.  Your PODs username and password are required to sign on to ILLiad. Reserves and E-Reserves Faculty and teaching assistants may place books, articles, or other items on reserve for specific courses in either the Bartle or Science Libraries.  Physical items may be checked out at the Science Library Information Services Desk. Articles, whenever possible, are scanned and placed in BlackBoard by the Libraries. Instructional Services Librarians can teach course-specific and general library sessions customized to meet course goals and student needs. Librarians can also assist with designing effective library assignments.  Most sessions are offered in the Bartle or Science Library computer instruction labs which allow hands-on active learning. CINAHL Features   Strong nursing and allied health orientation. Updated frequently – can access latest nursing news. Specific interest categories including evidence based practice, men’s health and consumer health.

Refine Search Refine Search  It is best to search CINAHL using  Advanced Search.  The advanced search function has a  Refine Search  tab that can be used to add limits to your search. Limits that you might want to use in CINALH include: Publication year  Evidence based practice  Journal subset (limit to nursing journals, peer-reviewed journals, etc.)  Publication type (limit to case study, clinical trial, practice guidelines, etc.)  Language  Gender  Age Group  Special Interest (Evidence based practice)
 
CINAHL   Headings CINAHL staff assign subject terms to each record in the database based on article content.  CINAHL headings can be used to narrow a topic Browse for CINAHL headings using the CINAHL Headings Links
