This document discusses number systems used in computers. It describes that number systems represent numerical values and define codes for numbers in computer memory. NUMBER SYSTEM IS A WAY TO REPRESENT NUMBERS IN A
COMPUTER SYSTEM .
EVERY VALUE THAT WE ARE GIVING TO OR GETTING FROM A
COMPUTER MEMORY HAS A DEFINED SET OF CODES IN A NUMBER
SYSTEM.

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF NUMBER SYSTEMS :
 NON-POSITIONAL NUMBER SYSTEM
 POSITIONAL NUMBER SYSTEMS

4. NON-POSITIONAL NUMBER SYSTEM
IN THE PAST, HUMAN BEINGS COUNTED ON FINGERS. FOR
COUNTING BEYOND 10, THEY USED STONES, PEBBLES, OR STICKS
TO INDICATE VALUES. THIS METHOD OF COUNTING USES AN
ADDITIONAL APPROACH OR NON-POSITIONAL NUMBER SYSTEM.
IN THIS SYSTEM, WE HAVE SYMBOLS SUCH AS I FOR 1, II FOR 2, IIIII
FOR 5, ETC. EACH SYMBOL REPRESENTS A SAME VALUE
REGARDLESS OF ITS POSITIONIN A NUMBER
IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO PERFORM ARITHEMATIC CALCULATIONS
WITH SUCH A NUMBER SYSTEM.
