Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) preached monotheism for 950 years after many people started worshipping statues of righteous people after their deaths. When his people refused to stop worshipping idols and follow Allah alone, a flood was sent as punishment. Nuh built an ark at Allah's command and took believers and animal pairs aboard as the flood waters rose. The flood destroyed all the disbelievers while the ark landed safely, carrying on Nuh's followers and marking the end of that nation of disbelievers. Archaeological evidence may support that Nuh's ark came to rest on Mount Judi in Turkey as indicated in Islamic texts.
