Natalie has cerebral palsy and started using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices at a young age to communicate. She began with eye pointing to symbols and then progressed to using an ORAC communication aid with switches. Over many years, she advanced her skills from using symbols to words and increased the complexity of her overlays and scanning methods. She later transitioned to dynamic screen devices like the Cameleon and Grid 2 to allow for more advanced communication functions. Now she is waiting for funding for a new Tobii eye gaze device to continue improving her independent communication abilities.
