It describes features such as close-ups, cutaways, timelines, headings, tables of contents, indexes, bold text, textboxes, photos, captions, graphs, diagrams, tables, maps, glossaries, and labels; and provides brief explanations of how each feature aids comprehension or acts as a reference tool.

1. Non fiction Text features
• Text features help readers preview and
understand nonfiction text.

2. Close up
It helps us to see the details in something small.

3. cutaway
• Shows what something looks like on the inside

4. Timeline
Helps the reader understand when the event
happened.

5. Heading/Title
A heading tells the reader what they are about
to read. They are in bold or in different color.


6. Table of Content
• a list of chapters and the pages on which they
start

7. Index
• An alphabetical listing of names and topics
along with page numbers where they are
discussed
• It helps the reader to find the information
quickly.

8. Bold text/Bold print
• Bold text/bold print calls attention to new and
important words that can be fund in the
glossary.

9. Textbox
• a box that has additional information about a
topic that is written about in the text

10. Photos/Pictures
• visual representations of information being
discussed in the text

11. Caption
• Caption is a written description of a picture, photo, or
illustration. It explains what the picture is
• Captions are found above, underneath, or beside a
picture or image.

13. Diagram
• a drawing intended to explain how something
works; uses labels to

14. Table/Chart
• a set of data arranged in rows and columns

15. Map
• an illustration of the earth's surface, shows
where something is

16. Glossary
• It is a list of difficult words and their meanings
that are in a book.
• It is found in the back of the nonfiction book.
