A Speed of Light Tour of Social Media's Trickiest Tools... and how to decide where to put your efforts. Pemberton and District Library social media sessions, Nov-Dec 2012
Apex IT – For this technology firm’s website, we edited and helped distill a massive amount of technical information. We created an easy to navigate website allowing Apex IT to integrate their vendor and partner information seamlessly into their website. http://www.apexit.com/
When the Denver Athletic Club asked us to theme and brand their annual fall membership event, we hit upon a National Parks theme and we illustrated and designed materials that tied into the nostalgia and fond memories of family park visits, while giving people fodder for conversation with “What I did over summer vacation.”
We developed a new logo and brand for this family practice law firm that emphasizes their role in helping people make a new start. The logo incorporates a stylized leaf that satisfied the owner’s request for a “forward Zen.” This thoughtful, artistic brand was translated to print collateral, signage, and a new website.
We have created a variety of print and online collateral for this rapidly growing home automation and technology company, including advertisements, postcard mailers, invitations, signage, logo wear, and vehicle wraps. We are now working with them on a new campaign that will reflect their evolving brand.
We helped this firm celebrate ten years in business with an event theme and logo using the idea of “benchmark”; design for materials including invitations, signage, poster boards, and take-aways; plus event coordination and set-up.
A branded brochure and trial membership card were created for this storied private club to give out during their annual Back to the DAC event, which serves as an informal membership drive. The following year, we created a branded notecard and envelope designed to be used separately or in tandem with the brochure.
We created tradeshow banners, as well as a video, for this family-owned business that serves a niche market with scripts for “family friendly” youth drama.
A full suite of materials promoting their bi-annual No Barriers Summit: media and sponsor kits, mailers and advertisements, as well as event materials such as table tents and programs.

No Barriers Summit
1. No Barriers is a powerful community
of modern-day pioneers who promote
innovation, education, and assistive
technologies that create transformative
life experiences and inspire people with
challenges to live full and active lives.
No Barriers believes in the possible for people like
28-year-old Chanda, a quadriplegic who recently
learned to rock-climb thanks to No Barriers. “What
I love about No Barriers,” she said, “is that I am
allowed and trusted to do this on my own. It is
liberating, empowerment, hope.”

2. What’s in your way?
Help us empower people to
shatter their personal barriers.
“No Barriers” is our approach to life. We believe that
every person has a spark for adventure that is worth
igniting – and one of the powerful ways we do that
is through the No Barriers Summit, an international
event where cutting-edge technologies and techniques
combine with challenging outdoor pursuits to redefine
what is possible for people living with disabilities.
Although the average cost per Summit participant is
$250, we pass along only $75 in registration fees. No
Barriers USA assumes responsibility for the remaining
costs and raises the balance through donations and
sponsorships. Won’t you help? Together, we can
shatter all the barriers.
How will your donation be used?
• $175 covers No Barriers’ cost for one deserving
Summit participant.
• $600 helps us to cover expenses for an
adventure clinic, such as adaptive mountain
biking for wheelchair users.
• $1,300 brings inspirational and powerful people
to the Summit, such as Maysam Ghovanloo,
Ph.D., inventor of a life-changing Tongue Drive
System that enables people with high-level
spinal cord injuries to control a wheelchair or
a computer with their tongue.
• $2,500 pays all expenses for a child and his
family to attend, like 9-year-old triple amputee
James (below, on hand cycle), who says, “It
doesn’t mean you can’t do that much stuff
[having a disability]. You can do anything you
set your mind to.”

16. Magic happens when you bring technology and adaptive sports together in one place. It’s
amazing to see how people learn and how perceptions shift. There are always struggles that
come when you are first injured or are trying something new for the first time but with the right
tools and attitude, there’s no reason you can’t climb your own El Capitan.
Mark Wellman, co-founder of No Barriers and first paraplegic to ascend the 3,000-foot face
of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park
17. As always, the technologies were amazing, but I was most struck by the hundreds of people
facing significant challenges, all gathered with the purpose of living more actively, squeezing
more potential from their lives, and taking control of their own destinies.
Erik Weihenmayer, co-founder of No Barriers and first and only blind person to summit Mt. Everest
