4. TOEFL (Test of English as a
Foreign Language)
• Kỳ thi này chủ yếu dành cho du học
sinh theo học tại các trường cao
đẳng, đại học tại Mỹ, Úc, Canada…
hoặc các trường có ngôn ngữ giảng
dạy là tiếng Anh.
5. • Từ năm 2005, tên của kỳ thi có đổi
khác đôi chút: TOEFL iBT. Đó là dạng
thức mới của TOEFL truyền thống và
thí sinh làm bài thi trên máy tính.
Hình thức thi TOEFL trên giấy (hay
còn gọi là TOEFL PBT – TOEFL Paper-
Based Test) đã chính thức không còn
được nhiều cơ sở giáo dục trên thế
giới áp dụng tuy một vài nơi vẫn còn
sử dụng hình thức này.
6. Hình thức nào khó hơn?
• Có lẽ là TOEFL iBT (TOEFl Internet - based
test).Trước kia thí sinh TOEFL PBT chỉ thi 3
phần (Listening, Structure/ Written
Expression, Reading Comprehension) bắt
buộc, phần thi viết (TWE – Test of
Written English) không bắt buộc và được
chấm điểm riêng. Với TOEFL iBT, thí sinh
phải làm đủ 4 phần
(Reading, Listening, Speaking, và
Writing).
7. TOEIC (Test of English for
International
Communication)
• Nhiều người cho rằng so với
TOEFL, TOEIC dễ hơn rất nhiều. Điều
đó chỉ chính xác vào thời điểm trước
năm 2006. Từ năm 2006 trở đi, dạng
thức bài thi đã có thay đổi lớn:
8. • Phần đầu tiên của bài thi Listening
(Part 1): số lượng các câu hỏi liên
quan đến hình ảnh (được xem là
phần dễ ghi điểm nhất) đã bị giảm
xuống một nửa.
9. • Phần thứ ba và thứ tư của bài thi
Listening (Part 3 và Part 4): trước kia
1 đoạn hội thoại được dành để trả lời
chỉ 1 hoặc 2 câu hỏi, thì nay bạn
phải nghe và nhớ thêm nhiều chi tiết
để trả lời 3 câu hỏi cho mỗi đoạn hội
thoại hoặc bài nói chuyện.
10. • Phần Reading của dạng thức TOEIC
mới có nhiều bài đọc dài hơn, ngữ
liệu nâng cao hơn và câu hỏi dài hơn.
11. Điều quan trọng cần lưu
ý:
• Từ tháng 04 năm 2011, chính phủ
Anh đã chấp nhận điểm TOEIC như
một chuẩn mực đánh giá khả năng
Anh ngữ của người xin visa vào
Vương quốc Anh.
12. BEC (Business English
Certificate)
• Chứng chỉ BEC do Đại học Cambridge
cấp và nằm trong hệ thống văn bằng
Anh ngữ dành cho người nói tiếng
Anh như một ngoại ngữ (Cambridge
ESOL Exams).
13. • BEC có 3 cấp theo thứ tự từ thấp lên
cao:
BEC Preliminary: dành cho người
học Anh ngữ trình độ Trung cấp

14. Kỳ thi BEC và TOEIC có gì
giống và khác nhau?
• Giống:
Đây cùng là 2 kỳ thi dành cho người
đi làm trong các cơ quan, tổ chức sử
dụng tiếng Anh làm ngôn ngữ giao
dịch chính.
15. • Khác:
BEC được phân cấp, thí sinh có cơ
hội chọn chứng chỉ phù hợp với cấp
độ Anh ngữ của mình. Một số câu hỏi
của kỳ thi BEC không ở dạng trắc
nghiệm, mang tính thử thách cao
Chỉ khi thí sinh đạt điểm đậu thì mới
được cấp chứng chỉ.
16. ICFE (International
Certificate in Financial
English)
• Đây là một chứng chỉ còn khá mới
mẻ với người học tiếng Anh tại Việt
Nam. Chứng chỉ này do Đại học
Cambridge cấp và thí sinh dự thi phải
đạt tiếng Anh trình độ cao cấp.
17. • Đối tượng dự thi lấy ICFE thường là
những người làm việc trong ngành
tài chính, kế toán. Có nhiều thí sinh
thi ICFE vì họ muốn củng cố khả
năng Anh ngữ để học thi lấy bằng
ACCA (Association of Chartered
Certified Accountants) dành cho kế
toán.
18. • Kỳ thi lấy ICFE là một thử thách
không nhỏ ngay cả đối với những ai
đã từng làm việc trong ngành tài
chính. Người dự thi phải thật sự quen
với ngôn ngữ và cách diễn đạt đặc
trưng sử dụng trong ngành tài
chính, cũng như bắt kịp tốc độ nói
của người bản ngữ trong các bản tin
tài chính, kinh tế chuẩn mực.
19. ILEC (International Legal
English Certificate)
• Đây là một chứng chỉ khác do Đại
học Cambridge cấp và dành cho
những người làm việc trong ngành
luật, chủ yếu liên quan đến luật
thương mại.
20. • Dạng thức và bố cục bài thi ILEC
cũng tương tự ICFE. Để lấy được
ILEC, người học phải quen với ngôn
ngữ và văn phong sử dụng trong các
văn bản pháp luật, hợp đồng quốc
tế, luật quốc tế và có một số kiến
thức nền về luật thương mại quốc tế.
21. • Trong hệ thống các văn bằng Anh
ngữ dành cho người đi làm của Đại
học Cambridge, ILEC là một chứng
chỉ mới mẻ nhất. Nhưng đây lại là
một trong số ít những chứng chỉ Anh
ngữ quan trọng và dành riêng cho
người đi làm tại các tổ chức, công ty
hoạt động liên quan mật thiết đến
luật thương mại quốc tế.
