This document provides guidance on lighting "fires of hope" through experimenting with new models and methods in challenging times. It suggests 10 steps: 1) lead with spiritual substance; 2) gather an encouraging team; 3) think like a garden, not a tree; 4) use your history creatively; 5) raise funds or do it without money; 6) bring in new people; 7) leverage outside resources; 8) add before subtracting; 9) think like a movement; 10) join God in loving others. It emphasizes celebrating progress now, embracing opponents with prayer, and finding hope through small acts of courage and community.

SPURGEON, "The first verse, in an exclamation of surprise, explains the intent of the Psalm, viz., to invoke the interposition of God for the deliverance of his poor and persecuted people. From Psalms 10:2-11, the character of the oppressor is described in powerful language. In Psalms
10:12, the cry of the first verse bursts forth again, but with a clearer utterance. In the next place (Psalms 10:13-15), God's eye is clearly beheld as regarding all the cruel deeds of the wicked; and as a consequence of divine omniscience, the ultimate judgment of the oppressed is joyously anticipated (Psalms 10:16-18). To the Church of God during times of persecution, and to individual saints who are smarting under the hand of the proud sinner, this Psalm furnishes suitable language both for prayer and praise.
The New Macho Man, ‘The New Macho Man,’ a deep lover of a woman who drinks bountifully from her as a woman in mind body and soul. He uses his influence as a man to empower her in life, love, learning and career if she so desires'.
CALVI1, “David having largely and painfully experienced what a miserable thing it is to feel God’s hand heavy on account of sin, exclaims that the highest and best part of a happy life consists in this, that God forgives a man’s guilt, and receives him graciously into his favor. After giving thanks for pardon obtained, he invites others to fellowship with him in his happiness, showing, by his own example, the means by which this may be obtained.
A verse by verse commentary on Psalm 89 dealing with the positive spirit that say, "I will sing of the Lord's great love forever..." He goes on to tell of God's faithfulness to His people, and of the wonders of his grace and love to David. There is none like the Lord in all the heavenly beings.It goes on with endless praise for God and his acts of love for Israel.

The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Bishop Nikolai Velimirovic,
a Serbian bishop who spoke out against Naziism,
was arrested, and taken to Dachau.
He wrote this prayer for his enemies.

your embrace more than friends have.

A cooking pot and gray embers from the morning fire.
I turn, push out, and squint, delivered back into stark
midday sun.

42. A baby cries in fear,
Mine the first white face his eyes have ever seen.
In light of what has happened, he is right
To cry,
In this, his sad world, and mine, of light
And dark.
These little people, small as splinters in the palm of
Africa’s pain -
Their poor neighbors despise them: smelly, dirty, poor,
simple.
They have too little water to drink,
None to spare for washing.
They sleep on dirt, in huts,
On land they do not own.
When it rains, they get wet.
Unowned, they even lack the value of slaves.

In school, Tutsi and Hutu alike make fun,

Gathers us beneath a kind of trellis.
Speeches are made. People clap.

For a while I join them stomping in the rising dust,
Wishing I could stay.
What are they singing? I ask.
The translator by my side leans toward me:
They are singing a good-bye song, he says.
The Batwa sing and dance when guests arrive
And when they leave.
They sing and dance when they have food, he says,
And when they hunger they sing and dance.
They survive, he says,
This way.
