Running head: PROBLEM OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION 1
PROBLEM OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION 6
What should countries do to address the problem of illegal immigration?
Illegal immigration has been a problem for decades, and the blame rests on politicians who are not ready to enforce the law. There is still a chance of fixing it, and most of the immigrants would be prepared to rally around this plan that comprises of the rule of law, decency, and common sense. As a result, this paper provides synthesized rhetorical analysis of three sources addressing the issue of what should countries do to address the problem of illegal immigration? The sources that analyzed in the paper are, controlling illegal immigration: on the scope for cooperation with a transit country, press coverage of the refugee and migrant crisis in the EU: A content analysis of five European countries, and solving illegal immigration [For Real].
The first source about controlling illegal immigration targets politicians in developed countries as the intended audience. The article has rich literature on the immigration policy that if implemented by the lawmakers of developed countries would substantially address the problem of illegal immigration.
The purpose of this text is to offer insights into the rule of law that would be used in addressing illegal immigration. The article raises the question of the assistance that leads to an increase in migration pressure from developing countries. It was articulated when the U.S raised the issue of illegal immigration from Mexico and other African countries.
The authors of this article are credible since they are authors and academicians in prominent universities. The reasons provided on how to handle the issue of illegal immigration depicts the credibility of these authors.
Reader's reaction to the article can be positive because it brings a lot of hope to deal with the immigration issue. The article is portrayed as to evoke the sufferings that immigrant employees have undergone probably when being treated as illegal immigrants, yet they are contributing to the economic growth of a country.
The elements are organized professionally. In short, the arrangement seems logical because the article is organized, starting with the abstract to a conclusion that offers comprehensive research on the topic.
Finally, the article was first published on the 3rd of July 2014 at the University of Bath. The article can be said it was timely since it happens during the review of International Economics, where the issue of illegal immigration was a critical factor in the discussion.
The second source is a project report written by three authors about press coverage of the refugee and migrant crisis in the European Union with consideration of five European countries. The report is meant to address leaders of different countries as well as the public about cooperation as well as shaping ways to find solutions to illegal immigration. The article comprehensively discuss ...

articles you selected for this project. You will also need to include a “works cited” or bibliography page along with hard copies of each of your news articles
The goal of this paper is to allow you to analyze how “historiography” is an ongoing process largely influenced by the news media. History is a subjectively generated product. History incorporates the biases and viewpoints of those who produce it. The news media today is a key source in providing us with “meaning” connected to newsworthy “historical” events. In fact, the news media is in fact a major part of the process that generates "history.” Although news media reporters and editors frequently claim that they are presenting “just the facts," the way in which these “facts” are presented often carry a number of biases that strongly influence public perception and interpretations of current events. For this assignment, you are going to pick a specific, single international event and examine how this event is presented by different news media sources from around the globe. You are being asked to compare the articles you have selected for this assignment and discuss how the differing ways in which the event you have chosen actually reflects more than the "plain" facts, but rather reveals complex layers of social values, assumptions, biases, beliefs and meanings by each of your articles' authors.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Newspaper study (Erasmus+ project "Understanding and Critical Media Literacy") Greece- Team B
1.
2. The influence of
newspapers
1)Do newspapers play a major
role in our lives and if yes, why?
Newspapers are part of our
daily lives. Most millenials may
not use them often, but people
are used to getting informed by
them and they usually are an
updated source of information.
3. 2) How do newspapers influence us?
Depending on the way they present
news, newspapers can lead us to false
conclusions. They achieve that by
writing their articles a certain way, in
favor of their political position and
financial interests. Sometimes, they do
not show the whole version of the truth
and they highlight the things they want.
4. Two sides of the same
coin
The Afghan newspaper
“KHAAMA PRESS” has an
article about Afghan refugees
not being deported from
Pakistan. It states that there
is a long term program to help
people who have recently
arrived there and give them
time to get organized in order
to leave. It does not show
Pakistan’s negative response
to the migration problem and
certainly does not put the
blame on it. It also does not
mention what the leaders of
the country receiving these
refugees have said about the
situation. (most of them are
saying that they need to be
deported soon)
6. The Afghan newspaper “IRIN” also
has an article about the same matter,
but this time it is presented a bit
differently than the previous one. The
article highlights the words of Rauf
Khan, chief commissioner for Afghan
refugees in Islamabad, which were
everything but positive. Moreover,
through Rauf statements, it is clear
that Pakistan’s government has no
intention of letting refugees stay.
7. European newspaper
“ALJAZEERA” has an
article about Spain’s top
court blocking Catalan
parliament’s meeting. It
states that Spain has
canceled a Catalonian
meeting in which regional
leaders where expected to
announce a split from
Spain. It analyses the
mater and it quotes many
off the leaders words,
positive and negative. It
has detailed information
and does not really take
sides.
9. The other European
newspaper
“euobserver” also
mentions this issue ,
but it does not have
such details. It is even
more impersonal and it
surely doesn’t report
the leaders’ statements.
10. After comparing the articles, we
reached some conclusions:
Newspapers do not always display
what actually happened.
We have to be able to distinguish
whether what is written is the truth
or a fabrication whose purpose is to
mislead us.
11. In order to obtain valid information, we
have to read various sources and as
trustworthy as possible.
Our opinion must not be formed
irrationally. We should examine the
issue we are interested in first and not
act on impulse.
