The fifth meeting of the Comenius Project "WATERBORNE IDENTITIES" was held from April 24-29, 2014 in Verden, Germany. Participants included students and teachers from Norway, Spain, Turkey, Bulgaria, and the host country of Germany. This document discusses hydrological plans and the National Spanish Hydrological Plan. It specifically mentions the Ebro River Basin and features such as the Assut de Xerta dam and the Senia reservoir. The hydrological plan aims to ensure adequate water supply while protecting the environment. It outlines measures to maintain river ecosystems and prevent issues like subsidence or delta regression. Irrigation channels are also discussed as a way to supply water for agriculture in areas with low rainfall. The Plataforma en Defensa de l'Ebre is mentioned as a social platform that advocates for protection of the Ebro River.
Your water footprint is the total amount of water used directly and indirectly to support your daily life and consumption. It includes water used for food, goods, energy, and activities. Most of your water footprint comes from indirect usage and is considered "virtual water." Water footprints can be calculated for individuals, households, businesses, and entire countries to assess water usage. They are important because freshwater resources are under pressure from growing populations and climate change, and water footprints reveal how to more efficiently use this vital resource. Water footprints are broken into blue, green, and grey categories depending on the source and quality of the water.
The document provides many tips for saving water both inside and outside the home. Some key tips include only running the washing machine and dishwasher when full, taking shorter showers, installing low-flow faucets and showerheads, fixing leaks, and using buckets to catch water while waiting for temperature changes instead of letting the tap run. Outdoor tips include watering lawns early morning or evening, setting sprinklers properly, and using rain barrels to collect rainwater for plants. The goal is to reduce water waste from appliances, fixtures and outdoor use.

Your water footprint is the total amount of water used directly and indirectly to support your daily life, including water used for food production, manufacturing of consumer goods, energy use, and other activities. It includes both water consumed (blue water) and polluted (grey water) in these processes. Water footprints can reveal how much virtual water is embedded in individual lifestyles and economic activities, helping evaluate water usage and scarcity issues at both personal and societal levels. As populations and standards of living increase, so does total water usage, exacerbating existing water stresses in many regions.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.
