Dr. Naresh Trehan is an Indian cardiothoracic surgeon and healthcare entrepreneur who founded Escorts Heart Institute & Research Center in 1988 and Medanta-The Medicity, a multi-specialty hospital in Gurgaon, with over 1,500 beds and 20 specialties. He was inspired by his parents' compassionate medical practice. Against advice, he returned to India in the 1980s after a successful career in Manhattan. Known for his dedication to patients and ethics in medicine, he has performed over 50,000 heart surgeries and received several awards including the Padma Bhushan.
