Kulachi Hansraj Model School in Delhi held various competitions and activities from September 1-15, 2010 to generate enthusiasm for the upcoming 2010 Commonwealth Games. This included competitions like a display board competition about how the Games would change Delhi, a declamation contest on the importance of sports, and a slogan writing competition about the sportsman spirit. Other activities were a face painting competition featuring the mascot Shera, an online quiz about readiness for the Games, and a poster making competition about Shera. The team leader of GPS, Mr Sandeep Kumar Marhatta attended 24th National Annual Conference of Sahodaya School
Complexes- 2018 held at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh from 22 to 24 November. The conference was organised to
commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on the theme “Transforming Education through
Technology and Skill Development” with special focus on Gandhian Philosophy of Education.
Thirty four teachers attended Invigilators Training- IGCSE March 2018 at the school campus on 10 December.

2. Competitions
Inter House Story Telling
Enjoying the art of Story Telling, the students of classes III to V participated
in the competition. The students narrated the tales in an amusing style
bringing the scenes live to the audience. The judges as well as the audience
appreciated the participants for their efforts and zeal. Ridhi(VC) got the first
prize, the second position was shared by Jiya(VA) and Lavanya(IVE).
Sehajpreet Kaur(VC) bagged the third prize.
Inter House Spell Bee
A boost to the need to be good at spellings, Spell Bee Competition was
organised for the classes I to VIII on 4 August. The competition was held
in the classrooms. All the students participated and felt happy. They got
an enriching experience. The students got motivated to learn new words
everyday and increase their vocabulary. Patel House got the first position
followed by Tagore and Nehru for the second and third position
respectively.
Inter House Collage Making
Art has no boundaries. This is an endless flow of creativity. It gives a great
pleasure to the artist to display his inner feelings in the form of art. The
budding artists of GPS showed their talent in Inter House Collage Making
Competition on the theme of Peace, Globalisation and World Health,
Political Issues around the World. Yashika and Disha(VIII CAIE) got the
first prize in VI to VIII category. Jaisleen Kainth (XI ArtsB) and Shifali
Chopra(IX D) shared the top position in IX to XII category.
Inter House G.K. Quiz
In today's world of technology, the knowledge available in the books needs
to be accompanied with the ever expanding knowledge around us. An Inter
House GK Quiz Competition was held in three categories for the students
of classes III to V, VI to VIII and IX to XII . Four students represented each
house. The students as well as audience enjoyed the general awareness
questions, brain teasers, scientific aspects, sports and culture related
questions. Gandhi House got the first position in III to V category. Patel
House got the lead in VI to VIII category. Nehru House stood first in IX to
XII category.
Calligraphy
Calligraphy competition was organised for classes Jr. &
Sr. K.G and CAIE K.G on 4 September .The winners
were : Pratyaksh (Jr. K.G Lotus), Saggaljot Kaur ( Sr.
K.G Sunflower) and Anchal sood (K.G CAIE) .
For classes I & II (CAIE) the competition was held on 27
September. The winners were: Aaliya ( I CAIE) and Jiya
Mittal ( II CAIE),.

3. Best out of Waste
GPSonians displayed their creative skills through the competition
conducted on 28 September .They proved that there is nothing in
the world which can be termed as waste. They designed beautiful
pieces of art on the theme of Diwali. They crafted lamps, candle
stands, hanging lights, lanterns etc.
The winners were : Snehal Kalsi (X E), Shubhneet Kaur (VII C),
Yaadvi (VII CAIE) and Haymanveer Singh (VII CAIE).

everyone with their artistic skills by

October. The prize winners were : Jasman (

Jassar( VII C) and Ananya ( IX C).
Inter House Hindi and Punjabi Poetry
The students form classes III to V and VI to VIII participated in Inter House Hindi and Punjabi Poetry Competition on 17
& 18 October respectively. They recited the poems artistically reminding the audience of the words of William
Wordsworth, “Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in
tranquility.” The winners were: Jasleen (VA, Hindi), Rasmeet (VIIB, Hindi),Sukhleen Kaur (III CAIE, Punjabi),
Mangaldeep Singh (VII B,Punjabi).

4. Clay Moulding
“The principle mark of genius is not perfection but originality, the
opening of new frontiers.” - Arthur Koestler
Clay moulding is fun for kids of all ages . They enjoy moulding the
clay into a variety of models. The competition was held for the pre-
primary classes on 24 November. The winners were : Tanvir Kaur
and Ansh Data (Jr. K.G Hibiscus), Aarav Garg ( Sr. K.G Marigold).
One more Feather in GPS Cap
GPS, once again leads the region by organising the First Cambridge Inter School Debate Competition in Upper North
Community in the school campus on 30 October.
Congratulations to Paavi Verma(BCM Arya International School, Ludhiana), Dikshit Chawala(Gobindgarh Public School,
Mandi Gobindgarh) and Avneet Singh(BCM Arya International School, Ludhiana) for securing the first, second and third
positions respectively.
Inter School Poetry
GPSonians once again proved that they are the best. Bhumika Bhalla of
Xl Humanities (A) bagged the first prize out of 30 teams of various
schools in CBSE Inter School Poetry Recitation Competition organised
by Sahodaya School Complex Ludhiana East at Garden Valley
International School, Machhiwara Sahib on 1 September. The Principal,
Mr. Sandeep Kumar Marhatta appreciated and acknowledged her efforts
and encouraged other students to show their calibre.
GPS at Sports
Inter House Skating Competition
The competition was held for classes III to VIII on 16
August. Gandhi House got the first position, Nehru and
Patel House shared the second position and Tagore
House got the third position. Congratulations to all the
winners: Jasleen Kaur(IIIC), KanavMakhija(IVB),
Harshi Sofat(IVC), Krishan Arora(VICAIE), Arman
Virk(VIIA) and Sachin Kumar(VIIIC).

Tournament
The competition was held at Gobindgarh Public School on 29 and 30 August 2018. 32
teams participated in three categories viz. Under 14, Under 17 and Under 19 for both
boys and girls. There were total 128 participants. The sports stars of GPS had a proud
moment winning all the categories and lifting the TROPHY. Congratulations to the
team members and the Physical Education Department of the school.

5. CBSE Cluster XVI-XVII Table Tennis Tournament
GPSonians participated in CBSE CLUSTER XVI-XVII Table Tennis
Tournament held at Bhawan’s S.L Public school, Amritsar from 27 to
30 September, 2018 and won Bronze Medal in Under-14 Girls, Gold
Medal in Under-17 Girls. Khushi Sharma participated in Under-17
Girls individual event and won Gold Medal. Hiya Goyal, Khushi
Sharma, Ananya Dixit and Ravleen Kaur got selected for CBSE
National Championship.
Punjab School Table Tennis Championship
Table Tennis U-17 girls team: Hiya Goyal(X-E), Anreet
Kaur(X-CAIE), Khushi Sharma (X-E), Ananya Dixit and
Ravleen Kaur(IX-CAIE) made GPS proud by wining silver
medal in Punjab School Games Table Tennis Tournament held
at Patiala from 8 October to 10 October. Hiya Goyal and Kushi
Sharma from X E got selected for School Games Federation of
India Nationals. Congratulations to all the winners.

11 sports Punjab Inter School Table Tennis Tournament was held
in Jalandhar from 19 to 20 October. The Senior Girls got the Gold
Medal and were selected for the National Level .

GPSonians participated in Sahodaya School Complex East (Khanna) Table
Tennis Tournament held at Doraha Public School, Doraha from 8 to 10
December. GPS Under -19 Boys got Silver Medal and Under -19 Girls got
Bronze Medal. Mohit XII Arts was declared the best player of the tournament.
CBSE Cluster XVI Basket Ball Tournament
Cbse Cluster XVI Basket Ball Tournament was held at Faridkot from 27 to 30
September .The school basket ball team played well and was declared the
Second Runner Up team. Everyone appreciated the hardwork put in by them.
Cricket Tournament
The budding cricketers of GPS presented District Fatehgarh at
state level Cricket tournament held at Gurdaspur from 3 to 7
December.

6. Festivities at GPS

At GPS, all the important festivals and achievements are celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm.The students get the
exposure to our regional, national and international culture instilling values of unity, love and peace in them.
Independence Day Celebrations
It was possible under the guidance of The Man of Innovations, Mr Sandeep Kumar Marhatta, Principal GPS that the
school organised 72nd Independence Day Celebration in an innovative and unique manner. A Social Science Exhibition
was organised on the theme of A Journey to Incredible India. The classes from VI to X were allotted twenty nine states of
India to be displayed in their respective classrooms. The students did a marvellous job. They presented culture of entire
India in GPS. The replicas of the monuments like Red Fort and Amar Jawan Jyoti added charm to the campus.
Celebrating The Bond of Brothers and Sisters
Rakhi making activity was conducted to celebrate the bond among siblings. The tradition of tying the holy thread Rakhi
symbolising the promise of protection of sisters from all evils was remembered. The boys also prepared beautiful rakhis
for their sisters.
Janamashtmi Celebrations
GPS believes in imparting values of love and regard towards all the
religions equally. Janamashtmi celebrations were organised for the
students of Pre Primary Wing and KG to II CAIE. The students came
dressed in the attires of Lord Krishna and his friends. They enjoyed
making different articles (like flute, crown) used by Lord Krishna. They
danced to the hymns of Baal Krishna.

Ek Shaam Sangeet Ke Naam
Celebrating the healing touch of music, live music concert was organised in
GPS on 2 October. The GPSonians enthralled the audience with their
mesmerising performances. Everyone appreciated the First Ever Live Music
Concert in the Region, Sangeet Sandhaya.
Diwali Carnival
To mark Diwali celebrations, Diwali Carnival was organised at the school
ground on 21 October. The visitors made it a great success. They played the
games set up by the students and relished the eatables. It was a moment of
special happiness for the Raffle Draw winners.
Pratibimb 2018
To celebrate the success of the meritorious students,
Annual cum Prize Distribution function, PRATIBIMB
2018 was organised from 14 to 16 November. Mr.
Ranjeev Bhatia (Vice President GESWT), Mr. Raj
Goyal (Secretary GESWT) and Mr. Pawan Sachdeva
(President GESWT) were the Chief Guests on 14, 15
and 16 November respectively.
Theme Based Assemblies
Thematic assemblies are organised to enrich students’ knowledge on
important days and cultures of different states of India.The assemblies
conducted on the lines are: Onam (III, IV, VI & VII), Guru Ram Dass
Jayanti, World Animal Day, World Smile Day, World Food Day, Indian Air
Force Day, 26/11, Arunachal Pradesh(XI Com/A,VI B), Maharashtra ( XI
Sc/A), Rajasthan (VII D), Sikkim (VII E, XA ) and Bihar(VIII B).
Guidance And Counselling
“True Guidance is like a small torch in a dark forest. It does not show everything
at once but gives enough light for the next step to be safe.”
Guidance and counselling sessions are organised from time to time to guide the
students about the avenues of success available to them. The student counsellor
Dr. Poonam Sharma, Ms Jyoti Kwatra from Brain Science Academy and the
experts from Chandigarh University guided the GPSonians for a better future.

Condolences
Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji, three times Prime Minister of India left for his
heavenly abode on 16 August 2018. He was a great human being. He has
been and will always be remembered as a great politician, writer and
orator. This is undoubtedly an unbearable loss to India.
We express a profound grief at the untimely demise of Arpita Gulati of
VIII C. May God give solace to the departed soul. We will miss you.
Special assemblies were conducted in the honour of the Departed Souls.
