New Simulation Lab Offered at the 2012 Emergency Response Conference
1. Simulation Lab Tour Offered at the 2012 Emergency Response Conference:
August 7, 2012
By: Jacob Stuart
The Indiana Emergency Response Conference is pleased to announce an
interactive pre-conference workshop at the Simulation Center in Fairbanks Hall. The
SIMS tour is designed for medical personnel to refine their skills, while in a safe and
realistic hospital environment. Different real life scenarios are used to evaluate how
the staff respond and work together. Mannequins are programmed to respond as
real patients during the simulations, how much more realistic can you get?
The SIMS tour has been made possible by a partnership with IU Health,
Indiana University School of Medicine, and Indiana University School of Nursing.
They came together in 2005 to design and implement this concept in order for
students and professionals to have the opportunity for additional training in a safe
environment. Their vision was to create a facility whose main focus is quality in
patient care, and to develop knowledge in new medical technology and skill sets.
Three tours are available during the IERC. They are offered on September
12th through the 14th. A shuttle service will be provided in front of the Crowne Plaza
Hotel at the available times listed below. Only 10 attendees are allowed for each
tour, so please make sure to register for this free workshop on the Conference
website at Indianaerc.com. The training from this simulation will be an invaluable
experience, and we hope that many take advantage of this opportunity. Special
thanks to IU Health for their continued support of the Conference, as well as helping
to make the simulation lab tour possible.
