New Mexico is located in the Southwestern United States, bordered by Texas to the east, Colorado to the north, Arizona to the west, and Utah to the northwest. Santa Fe is located at 36 degrees north and 106 degrees west. The state has three main regions - the West Region, Rocky Mountain Region, and Great Plains Region. Notable landmarks include Chaco Canyon National Monument and White Sands Missile Base, while the Rio Grande River and Sangre de Caristo are important landforms. The climate is mild, sunny, and dry, receiving an average of 15 inches of rain per year.
