‘Do not take ‘no’ for an answer’, say GCC
women energy professionals
Saudi gazette : Women who exude confidence both in the office and on the field are more likely
to shatter the glass ceiling and accelerate their career progression, say the region’s women oil
and gas professionals.
Persistence is key to making it in the oil and gas industry, said Amna Al Maqtari, Process
Engineer at the Takreer Research Centre, which is part of the Petroleum Institute campus, an
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company
(ADNOC) educational center.
“Don’t take no for an answer,” Al Maqtari
said. “If someone tells you that you
cannot do something on the basis that
you are a woman, don’t just walk away.
Insist that you are capable of doing it
yourself, and you will find that most
times, people will listen.”
The oil and gas industry, traditionally a
male-dominated domain, has witnessed
great strides in attracting and retaining
more women into engineering positions.
Women comprise a larger proportion of
the global energy workforce today than at
any point in history.
Figures from Shell Global show that 29 percent of its employees in supervisory/professional
positions are women, and the proportion of women in its senior leadership positions have nearly
doubled over the last decade – from 9.9 percent in 2005, to 18 percent in 2014. Similarly, about
28 percent of ExxonMobil’s global workforce is women, and in 2014, 40 percent of management
and professional new hires were women, significantly higher than the percentage of women in its
overall employee population.
However, there are still challenges to be met. According to a 2015 report by
PricewaterhouseCoopers, only 5 percent of executive board seats in the top UK-headquartered
energy firms are currently held by women, while 61 percent of leadership boards have no women
present at all.

Continuous efforts will have to be made to support the industry’s female workforce, and
distinguishing women achievers as role models is an important component of that process,
according to women in the industry.
Although corporate tools and policies play a critical role in supporting women through their career
development, Al Maqtari said before looking outside for external support, it is important that
women look inside first.
“Managing your internal expectations is key, and this holds true for any employee whether male or
female. We are here to prove that women are just as capable and competent as men, and so
expecting that you will receive special treatment because you are a woman does not work in our
favour,” said Al Maqtari.
The best resource in the workplace for women looking for guidance on their journey to success
are their senior colleagues, Al Maqtari added.
“My superiors are my greatest mentors and have always lent their support and advice when I
needed it most. So finding someone that you can trust – a person who will not push you aside, but
push you forward – can be of great help, especially in times of difficulty,” she said.
The Adipec 2015 Oil & Gas Woman of the Year Award will recognize a female whose career has
progressed at a rapid pace, demonstrating the empowerment process in her company that
encouraged her to reach her aspirations.
The Adipec Awards, which span eight categories and are currently open for nominations until 30
July, are part of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (Adipec) 2015,
one of the world’s top three energy events and a global meeting place for oil and gas
professionals.
Hosnia Hashim, Vice President – Operations at the Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration
Company, one of Forbes Most Powerful Arab Women in 2014, and a speaker at this year’s Adipec
‘Women in Industry’ Conference, said: “Recognizing women achievers in energy is more important
than ever to challenge the perception that the oil and gas industry is a male domain.
The journey to success is not an easy one, but can be achieved with commitment, determination,
and the support of corporate policy. The Adipec 2015 Oil & Gas Woman of the Year Award helps
to transform what may seem as only a dream for young women to pursue a career in energy into a
tangible reality.”
Maria A. Capello, Consultant – South and East Kuwait Directorate at the Kuwait Oil Company,
said: “The Adipec Awards are without a doubt one of the most prestigious global recognitions in
the oil and gas industry. The ‘Oil & Gas Woman of the Year’ category is an outstanding
opportunity to recognize the many achievements of the extraordinary women who work in our
industry.”
“Particularly for the Middle East, this Award will also be a motivational channel through which the
industry can spotlight the amazing women from the region who have grounded their success on
incredible accomplishments, making them natural role models for tomorrow’s generation of
women professionals,” Capello added.

In addition to recognizing female achievers and bringing to light role models within the industry,
the Oil & Gas Woman of the Year Award is a powerful message to society that women are equally
capable and can play significant roles, said Reem Al Anbari, Chief Financial Officer at Borouge,
an Adnoc Group company, and a speaker at the Adipec 2015 ‘Women in Industry’ Conference.
“Many organizations are now focusing on diversity as a way of increasing their effectiveness and
competitiveness by attracting the best talent regardless of gender. In many countries, women
comprise more than half of the population, and leaving this resource untapped is a detrimental
mistake. The oil and gas industry is an engine for the economy, and we need to get women
involved across all corporate levels to change the dynamics and make sure their voices are heard,
not overlooked or ignored,” Al Anbari said.
“Thanks to the UAE government’s unwavering support for women, many companies offer effective
career development tools and policies – it is now up to women to take advantage of these
opportunities by asking questions, taking risks, and being involved in major projects to try and
deliver results,” added Al Anbari.
Mariam Al Badr, Director of Corporate Communications at Dolphin Energy, said: “When it comes
to oil and gas, there tends to be negative connotations about women as engineers, working
offshore and developing a career in the sector. As someone who works in communications I can
see that there is a strong need to dispel these misperceptions by engaging more effectively with
females and profiling the different opportunities and roles they can assume within the energy
sector.”
“The notion of equal opportunity, training and education is very important,” added Al Badr, who is
also a speaker at this year’s Adipec ‘Women in Industry’ Conference. “For example, at Dolphin
Energy it is made very clear what is needed to progress to the next level. This is of great help
because not only are you given clear targets to aim for but also as a woman you feel part of the
company’s future plans for success. It is very motivating.”
Awards entries will close on July 30, 2015, with the shortlist announced on October 12, 2015.
Winners and runners-up will be announced at the Adipec Gala Awards Dinner on Adipec’s
opening night, Nov. 9, 2015. Adipec will be held on Nov. 9-12, 2015 .

UAE; ABB wins $100m contract to supply offshore oilfields
The national
The Swiss power and automation company ABB has won a US$100 million contract to supply
offshore oilfields in Abu Dhabi.
Zurich-based ABB yesterday said that it had received orders for electrical and telecommunication
systems from South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries, which last year won a US$1.94 billion
contract from the offshore oilfield operator Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (Adma-Opco) to
build an offshore oil and gas platform for Nasr Field.
Work on Nasr Field, which lies 130 kilometres off the coast of Abu Dhabi, is due to be completed
by the second half of 2019. It will raise the daily production capacity of the offshore field to 65,000
barrels per day by the end of 2018 from 22,000 bpd presently.
“The solution provided consists of power management, power-from-shore and telecom systems
which are interconnected to ensure the highest levels of efficiency, reliability and safety,” said
ABB.
The Nasr field is part of Adma-Opco’s programme to add an extra 300,000 bpd capacity to Abu
Dhabi’s overall production levels, which is part of the emirate’s broader strategy to raise
production capacity from a current level of about 3 million bpd to 3.5 million bpd by 2017 and
2018.
Last October, Adma-Opco said oil began flowing from Umm Lulu, a major offshore field
development. It began flowing at a rate of 5,000 bpd and is expected to reach 22,000 bpd by the
end of this year and its full field development rate of 105,000 bpd by 2018.
Last November, Adma-Opco signed three major contracts worth $3bn for the second phase of
Nasr’s development, with Abu Dhabi’s National Petroleum Construction Company, Hyundai Heavy
Industries and France’s Technip.
Adma-Opco is 60 per cent owned by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, with shares also held by
UK-based BP (14 per cent), France’s Total (13 per cent) and Japan’s Jodco (12 per cent).

Saudi Arabia set to have its first off-grid temporary hybrid plant
Saydi Gazette + NewBase
Building Energy, Italian independent power producer from renewable sources, will team up with
SES SMART Energy Solutions, a leading rental power provider in the MEA region, to develop the
first on-field temporary hybrid plant in Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia.
The 14 MW diesel-solar plant, which is expected to be completed by July 2015, will produce 54
MWh per year from solar energy, saving diesel fuel and reducing CO2 emissions. The energy
produced from this project will be sold by means of a five-year power purchase agreement.
The project will be the first on field application of Green Energy Temporary Solution (GETS), a
hybrid, modular and portable solution that employs renewable energy sources technologies for the
temporary production of power in off-grid areas. GETS is Building Energy's proprietary solution,
developed to solve the issue of energy access in rural areas. Being preassembled, prewired and
containerized, GETS is ready to be shipped where energy is needed and can be fast and easily
installed with minimal environmental impact. This technology was developed to allow isolated
energy-intensive industries, such as mines for example, to meet their temporary power needs,
integrating green technologies even in rural areas, where no other energy infrastructures are
available.
For the realization of this project in Saudi Arabia, Building Energy's GETS technology will be
integrated with the diesel generator sets provided by SES Smart Energy Solutions, one of the
main rental power providers across the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia region serving
temporary energy needs. The use of hybrid energy technologies will allow to save diesel fuel,
consequently reducing CO2 emissions.
This solution will be developed in Saudi Arabia, where Building Energy is present with its Dubai
offices, from which it manages and coordinates other projects in North Africa as well. In Jordan,
the company signed an agreement protocol with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources
after being selected for the construction of a 50 MW power plant as part of the second round for
the renewable energy production program. Building Energy is also shortlisted for other large-scale

photovoltaic projects in Jordan and Egypt, and is working on a pipeline of projects in Saudi Arabia,
Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
"We are excited to implement, for the first time on field, Green Energy Temporary Solution, a
temporary hybrid plant based on renewable energy technologies. We believe that energy is crucial
to secure basic human needs, such as access to clean water and healthcare. However, at
present, there are over 1.3 billion people who still lack these services because they live in off-grid
areas. GETS could be an excellent solution to provide rural areas with energy access, thanks to
its easy and fast installation and requiring no initial investment,” said Massimo Teodori, Building
Energy's Managing Director Smart System - We are also glad to team up with SES to develop this
project in Saudi Arabia, in the MENA region, an area which is appealing for the renewables sector
thanks to its rich natural resources, such as sun and wind. Recognizing the opportunity, several
countries here have set specific objectives to increase the share of energy produced from
renewable sources, starting a significant change in the energy system."
"SES is glad to provide its customers with fast redeployable renewable energy solutions using
Building Energy GETS. This will further enhance SES offering in the Middle East and Africa region
namely for remote sites where SES specializes in providing on demand short to medium term
energy solutions and in line with IFC and World Bank Environmental policies" added Waleed
Isaac, SES SMART Energy Solutions managing director.

Oil prices rise after U.S. stock draw, but outlook still bearish
Reuters + NewBase
Oil prices rose on Thursday morning after data showed that U.S. crude inventories dropped and
refinery demand was high, although the outlook remains for cheap oil as oversupply persists. U.S.
crude inventories fell 4.3 million barrels last week, according to the Energy Information
Administration (EIA), as refineries boosted throughput to a record level.
"The decline in crude stock was driven by a jump in refinery throughput to a record high of 16.8
million barrels," ANZ bank said. Front-month U.S. crude futures were trading at $51.94 per barrel
at 0421 GMT, up 53 cents from their last settlement. Front-month Brent crude was also up half a
dollar at $57.55 a barrel.
"As a result of this (U.S. inventory data), we would believe that both WTI and Brent... should move
upwards today," said Daniel Ang of Singapore-based Phillip Futures.
Despite Thursday's gains, U.S. and Brent prices are down more than 17 and 15 percent,
respectively, from their June peaks as oversupply of around 2.5 million barrels per day remains in
place and the market prices in the prospect of a gradual return of Iranian exports from 2016
following a nuclear deal between Tehran and six global powers.
Iran, a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), has some of
the world's biggest oil reserves. It exported almost 3 million bpd of crude at its peak, before
Western sanctions over its alleged ambitions to build a nuclear bomb saw shipments collapse to
about a million bpd over the last 2-1/2 years.

"Although Iran has around 20 million barrels of oil in storage, some of it is needed for operational
reasons domestically and is therefore, not destined for export," energy consultancy Wood
Mackenzie said, adding that it could take Iran until the end of 2017 to increase production by as
much as 600,000 bpd.
Beyond Iran's impact on oil prices, the country offers big investment opportunities as it needs to
modernize its sanction-hit oil sector. "Tehran is eagerly poised to attract foreign investment and
gain access to modern technologies in the whole energy chain," Wood Mackenzie said.
"Potential for investment in Iran is huge, three quarters of its combined oil and gas reserves – the
third largest in the world – are yet to be produced," it added.

A game changer for Opec, but not for now
Reuters + Gulf Times
Opec is likely to keep oil output steady and defend its market share this year after Tehran’s
nuclear deal with major powers, since a full return of Iranian crude to the market will not be swift,
Gulf Opec delegates said.
But 2016 will be a tough year for the producer group when international sanctions on Iran are
expected to ease, allowing it to boost oil production and exports. Tehran’s determination to
reclaim its position as Opec’s second largest producer after it clinched the deal on Tuesday will
cause new rifts within the group. But Saudi Arabia and other Opec members are betting that
higher demand next year may help the market absorb extra volume.
They doubt that Iran’s return would pose a serious challenge to their market share or force Opec
to address Iran’s request for room to be made for it in the market, at least for now.
“If production from non-Opec slows down as expected and at same time demand continues
growing next year, assuming that Iraq doesn’t increase big and Libya is not going to come back,
then the market will absorb the Iranian oil,” a senior Gulf Opec delegate told Reuters.
Opec sees world oil demand increasing by 1.34mn bpd in 2016, up from growth of 1.28mn bpd
this year.
Western sanctions imposed on Iran in 2012 over its nuclear programme have cost it billions of
dollars in oil revenues and market share in Opec; largely to Saudi Arabia, and Iraq.
Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh told Opec at its last meeting in June that his country’s oil
output could rise by as much as 1mn bpd within six or seven months of sanctions being relaxed.
The senior Gulf delegate echoed views of other Opec officials and analysts in saying that
sanctions on Iran are unlikely to be lifted until 2016 and that Tehran’s ambition to boost output by
1mn bpd may not materialise soon.
Iran is unlikely to export more than an extra 500,000 bpd in the first half of 2016, and an additional
500,000 bpd in the second half of 2016, Commerzbank senior oil analyst Carsten Fritsch told the
Reuters Global Oil Forum.

“1mn bpd of additional oil from Iran would cover almost the expected demand increase in 2016
and wipe out the impact of stalling US oil production,” he said Oil prices tumbled on Tuesday after
Iran’s nuclear deal before rising on the realisation that sanctions on Tehran were still in place for
now, continuing to limit its crude exports.
It was not clear how long it would take for the sanctions to come off. Iran is not likely to receive
many of the benefits from the lifting of sanctions until next year because of the need to verify the
nuclear deal’s implementation.
“Oil prices will go down but the question remains. Would Iran return to its same production
capacity as before the sanctions? I doubt it,” said another Gulf Opec delegate. The Organisation
of Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) made a historic policy shift in November - led by Saudi
Arabia and supported by Gulf members - by refusing to cut production to prop up prices in a bid to
defend market share. The group reconfirmed the strategy at a meeting in June.
Opec does not meet again until December 4. Opec delegates say it is unlikely that Opec will
reverse its policy and cut production then, preferring to wait until after December to assess the
impact of additional oil from Iran on the market.
“No cut. This year for sure not,” said a third Gulf delegate, adding that it was too early to make a
sound judgement on how soon can Iran raise its oil flows. Tehran is keen to recover market share
lost under the sanctions that slashed its oil exports to just 1mn bpd from 2.5mn bpd in 2012.
But it is likely to face stiff competition for its main Asian markets from fellow Opec members such
as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq.
Aggressive marketing by the Middle East producers to win Asian buyers is likely to intensify and
oil prices will fall further as more Iranian crude starts to flow, making Tehran’s battle for market
share tougher.

Persistence is key to making it in the oil and gas industry, said Amna Al Maqtari, Process Engineer at the Takreer Research Centre, which is part of the Petroleum Institute campus, an Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) educational center. “Don’t take no for an answer,” Al Maqtari said. “If someone tells you that you cannot do something on the basis that you are a woman, don’t just walk away. Insist that you are capable of doing it yourself, and you will find that most times, people will listen.” The oil and gas industry, traditionally a male-dominated domain, has witnessed great strides in attracting and retaining more women into engineering positions. Women comprise a larger proportion of the global energy workforce today than at any point in history. Figures from Shell Global show that 29 percent of its employees in supervisory/professional positions are women, and the proportion of women in its senior leadership positions have nearly doubled over the last decade – from 9.9 percent in 2005, to 18 percent in 2014. Similarly, about 28 percent of ExxonMobil’s global workforce is women, and in 2014, 40 percent of management and professional new hires were women, significantly higher than the percentage of women in its overall employee population. However, there are still challenges to be met. According to a 2015 report by PricewaterhouseCoopers, only 5 percent of executive board seats in the top UK-headquartered energy firms are currently held by women, while 61 percent of leadership boards have no women present at all.

Page 2 Continuous efforts will have to be made to support the industry’s female workforce, and distinguishing women achievers as role models is an important component of that process, according to women in the industry. Although corporate tools and policies play a critical role in supporting women through their career development, Al Maqtari said before looking outside for external support, it is important that women look inside first. “Managing your internal expectations is key, and this holds true for any employee whether male or female. We are here to prove that women are just as capable and competent as men, and so expecting that you will receive special treatment because you are a woman does not work in our favour,” said Al Maqtari. The best resource in the workplace for women looking for guidance on their journey to success are their senior colleagues, Al Maqtari added. “My superiors are my greatest mentors and have always lent their support and advice when I needed it most. So finding someone that you can trust – a person who will not push you aside, but push you forward – can be of great help, especially in times of difficulty,” she said. The Adipec 2015 Oil & Gas Woman of the Year Award will recognize a female whose career has progressed at a rapid pace, demonstrating the empowerment process in her company that encouraged her to reach her aspirations. The Adipec Awards, which span eight categories and are currently open for nominations until 30 July, are part of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (Adipec) 2015, one of the world’s top three energy events and a global meeting place for oil and gas professionals. Hosnia Hashim, Vice President – Operations at the Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company, one of Forbes Most Powerful Arab Women in 2014, and a speaker at this year’s Adipec ‘Women in Industry’ Conference, said: “Recognizing women achievers in energy is more important than ever to challenge the perception that the oil and gas industry is a male domain. The journey to success is not an easy one, but can be achieved with commitment, determination, and the support of corporate policy. The Adipec 2015 Oil & Gas Woman of the Year Award helps to transform what may seem as only a dream for young women to pursue a career in energy into a tangible reality.” Maria A. Capello, Consultant – South and East Kuwait Directorate at the Kuwait Oil Company, said: “The Adipec Awards are without a doubt one of the most prestigious global recognitions in the oil and gas industry. The ‘Oil & Gas Woman of the Year’ category is an outstanding opportunity to recognize the many achievements of the extraordinary women who work in our industry.” “Particularly for the Middle East, this Award will also be a motivational channel through which the industry can spotlight the amazing women from the region who have grounded their success on incredible accomplishments, making them natural role models for tomorrow’s generation of women professionals,” Capello added.

Page 3 In addition to recognizing female achievers and bringing to light role models within the industry, the Oil & Gas Woman of the Year Award is a powerful message to society that women are equally capable and can play significant roles, said Reem Al Anbari, Chief Financial Officer at Borouge, an Adnoc Group company, and a speaker at the Adipec 2015 ‘Women in Industry’ Conference. “Many organizations are now focusing on diversity as a way of increasing their effectiveness and competitiveness by attracting the best talent regardless of gender. In many countries, women comprise more than half of the population, and leaving this resource untapped is a detrimental mistake. The oil and gas industry is an engine for the economy, and we need to get women involved across all corporate levels to change the dynamics and make sure their voices are heard, not overlooked or ignored,” Al Anbari said. “Thanks to the UAE government’s unwavering support for women, many companies offer effective career development tools and policies – it is now up to women to take advantage of these opportunities by asking questions, taking risks, and being involved in major projects to try and deliver results,” added Al Anbari. Mariam Al Badr, Director of Corporate Communications at Dolphin Energy, said: “When it comes to oil and gas, there tends to be negative connotations about women as engineers, working offshore and developing a career in the sector. As someone who works in communications I can see that there is a strong need to dispel these misperceptions by engaging more effectively with females and profiling the different opportunities and roles they can assume within the energy sector.” “The notion of equal opportunity, training and education is very important,” added Al Badr, who is also a speaker at this year’s Adipec ‘Women in Industry’ Conference. “For example, at Dolphin Energy it is made very clear what is needed to progress to the next level. This is of great help because not only are you given clear targets to aim for but also as a woman you feel part of the company’s future plans for success. It is very motivating.” Awards entries will close on July 30, 2015, with the shortlist announced on October 12, 2015. Winners and runners-up will be announced at the Adipec Gala Awards Dinner on Adipec’s opening night, Nov. 9, 2015. Adipec will be held on Nov. 9-12, 2015 .

Page 4 UAE; ABB wins $100m contract to supply offshore oilfields The national The Swiss power and automation company ABB has won a US$100 million contract to supply offshore oilfields in Abu Dhabi. Zurich-based ABB yesterday said that it had received orders for electrical and telecommunication systems from South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries, which last year won a US$1.94 billion contract from the offshore oilfield operator Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (Adma-Opco) to build an offshore oil and gas platform for Nasr Field. Work on Nasr Field, which lies 130 kilometres off the coast of Abu Dhabi, is due to be completed by the second half of 2019. It will raise the daily production capacity of the offshore field to 65,000 barrels per day by the end of 2018 from 22,000 bpd presently. “The solution provided consists of power management, power-from-shore and telecom systems which are interconnected to ensure the highest levels of efficiency, reliability and safety,” said ABB. The Nasr field is part of Adma-Opco’s programme to add an extra 300,000 bpd capacity to Abu Dhabi’s overall production levels, which is part of the emirate’s broader strategy to raise production capacity from a current level of about 3 million bpd to 3.5 million bpd by 2017 and 2018. Last October, Adma-Opco said oil began flowing from Umm Lulu, a major offshore field development. It began flowing at a rate of 5,000 bpd and is expected to reach 22,000 bpd by the end of this year and its full field development rate of 105,000 bpd by 2018. Last November, Adma-Opco signed three major contracts worth $3bn for the second phase of Nasr’s development, with Abu Dhabi’s National Petroleum Construction Company, Hyundai Heavy Industries and France’s Technip. Adma-Opco is 60 per cent owned by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, with shares also held by UK-based BP (14 per cent), France’s Total (13 per cent) and Japan’s Jodco (12 per cent). Page 5 Saudi Arabia set to have its first off-grid temporary hybrid plant Saydi Gazette + NewBase Building Energy, Italian independent power producer from renewable sources, will team up with SES SMART Energy Solutions, a leading rental power provider in the MEA region, to develop the first on-field temporary hybrid plant in Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. The 14 MW diesel-solar plant, which is expected to be completed by July 2015, will produce 54 MWh per year from solar energy, saving diesel fuel and reducing CO2 emissions. The energy produced from this project will be sold by means of a five-year power purchase agreement. The project will be the first on field application of Green Energy Temporary Solution (GETS), a hybrid, modular and portable solution that employs renewable energy sources technologies for the temporary production of power in off-grid areas. GETS is Building Energy's proprietary solution, developed to solve the issue of energy access in rural areas. Being preassembled, prewired and containerized, GETS is ready to be shipped where energy is needed and can be fast and easily installed with minimal environmental impact. This technology was developed to allow isolated energy-intensive industries, such as mines for example, to meet their temporary power needs, integrating green technologies even in rural areas, where no other energy infrastructures are available. For the realization of this project in Saudi Arabia, Building Energy's GETS technology will be integrated with the diesel generator sets provided by SES Smart Energy Solutions, one of the main rental power providers across the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia region serving temporary energy needs. The use of hybrid energy technologies will allow to save diesel fuel, consequently reducing CO2 emissions. This solution will be developed in Saudi Arabia, where Building Energy is present with its Dubai offices, from which it manages and coordinates other projects in North Africa as well. In Jordan, the company signed an agreement protocol with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources after being selected for the construction of a 50 MW power plant as part of the second round for the renewable energy production program. Building Energy is also shortlisted for other large-scale

"We are excited to implement, for the first time on field, Green Energy Temporary Solution, a temporary hybrid plant based on renewable energy technologies. We believe that energy is crucial to secure basic human needs, such as access to clean water and healthcare. However, at present, there are over 1.3 billion people who still lack these services because they live in off-grid areas. GETS could be an excellent solution to provide rural areas with energy access, thanks to its easy and fast installation and requiring no initial investment,” said Massimo Teodori, Building Energy's Managing Director Smart System - We are also glad to team up with SES to develop this project in Saudi Arabia, in the MENA region, an area which is appealing for the renewables sector thanks to its rich natural resources, such as sun and wind. Recognizing the opportunity, several countries here have set specific objectives to increase the share of energy produced from renewable sources, starting a significant change in the energy system." "SES is glad to provide its customers with fast redeployable renewable energy solutions using Building Energy GETS. This will further enhance SES offering in the Middle East and Africa region namely for remote sites where SES specializes in providing on demand short to medium term energy solutions and in line with IFC and World Bank Environmental policies" added Waleed Isaac, SES SMART Energy Solutions managing director.

U.S. crude inventories fell 4.3 million barrels last week, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA), as refineries boosted throughput to a record level. "The decline in crude stock was driven by a jump in refinery throughput to a record high of 16.8 million barrels," ANZ bank said. Front-month U.S. crude futures were trading at $51.94 per barrel at 0421 GMT, up 53 cents from their last settlement. Front-month Brent crude was also up half a dollar at $57.55 a barrel. "As a result of this (U.S. inventory data), we would believe that both WTI and Brent... should move upwards today," said Daniel Ang of Singapore-based Phillip Futures. Despite Thursday's gains, U.S. and Brent prices are down more than 17 and 15 percent, respectively, from their June peaks as oversupply of around 2.5 million barrels per day remains in place and the market prices in the prospect of a gradual return of Iranian exports from 2016 following a nuclear deal between Tehran and six global powers. Iran, a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), has some of the world's biggest oil reserves. It exported almost 3 million bpd of crude at its peak, before Western sanctions over its alleged ambitions to build a nuclear bomb saw shipments collapse to about a million bpd over the last 2-1/2 years. Beyond Iran's impact on oil prices, the country offers big investment opportunities as it needs to modernize its sanction-hit oil sector. "Tehran is eagerly poised to attract foreign investment and gain access to modern technologies in the whole energy chain," Wood Mackenzie said. "Potential for investment in Iran is huge, three quarters of its combined oil and gas reserves – the third largest in the world – are yet to be produced," it added.

Page 10 A game changer for Opec, but not for now Reuters + Gulf Times Opec is likely to keep oil output steady and defend its market share this year after Tehran’s nuclear deal with major powers, since a full return of Iranian crude to the market will not be swift, Gulf Opec delegates said. But 2016 will be a tough year for the producer group when international sanctions on Iran are expected to ease, allowing it to boost oil production and exports. Tehran’s determination to reclaim its position as Opec’s second largest producer after it clinched the deal on Tuesday will cause new rifts within the group. But Saudi Arabia and other Opec members are betting that higher demand next year may help the market absorb extra volume. They doubt that Iran’s return would pose a serious challenge to their market share or force Opec to address Iran’s request for room to be made for it in the market, at least for now. “If production from non-Opec slows down as expected and at same time demand continues growing next year, assuming that Iraq doesn’t increase big and Libya is not going to come back, then the market will absorb the Iranian oil,” a senior Gulf Opec delegate told Reuters. Opec sees world oil demand increasing by 1.34mn bpd in 2016, up from growth of 1.28mn bpd this year. Western sanctions imposed on Iran in 2012 over its nuclear programme have cost it billions of dollars in oil revenues and market share in Opec; largely to Saudi Arabia, and Iraq. Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh told Opec at its last meeting in June that his country’s oil output could rise by as much as 1mn bpd within six or seven months of sanctions being relaxed. The senior Gulf delegate echoed views of other Opec officials and analysts in saying that sanctions on Iran are unlikely to be lifted until 2016 and that Tehran’s ambition to boost output by 1mn bpd may not materialise soon. Iran is unlikely to export more than an extra 500,000 bpd in the first half of 2016, and an additional 500,000 bpd in the second half of 2016, Commerzbank senior oil analyst Carsten Fritsch told the Reuters Global Oil Forum.

It was not clear how long it would take for the sanctions to come off. Iran is not likely to receive many of the benefits from the lifting of sanctions until next year because of the need to verify the nuclear deal’s implementation. “Oil prices will go down but the question remains. Would Iran return to its same production capacity as before the sanctions? I doubt it,” said another Gulf Opec delegate. The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) made a historic policy shift in November - led by Saudi Arabia and supported by Gulf members - by refusing to cut production to prop up prices in a bid to defend market share. The group reconfirmed the strategy at a meeting in June. Opec does not meet again until December 4. Opec delegates say it is unlikely that Opec will reverse its policy and cut production then, preferring to wait until after December to assess the impact of additional oil from Iran on the market. “No cut. This year for sure not,” said a third Gulf delegate, adding that it was too early to make a sound judgement on how soon can Iran raise its oil flows. Tehran is keen to recover market share lost under the sanctions that slashed its oil exports to just 1mn bpd from 2.5mn bpd in 2012. But it is likely to face stiff competition for its main Asian markets from fellow Opec members such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq. Aggressive marketing by the Middle East producers to win Asian buyers is likely to intensify and oil prices will fall further as more Iranian crude starts to flow, making Tehran’s battle for market share tougher. 2006 OPEC quotas
