4. WORKMEN’S COMPENSATION ACT, 1923
Employees Compensation [Amendment] Act, 2009
Compensation Payable to death is increased from Rs.80000 to
Rs.120000
Permanent total disablement is increased from Rs.90000 to
Rs.140000
Monthly wag ceiling limit increased by 50% from Rs.4000 to
Rs.8000
5. EMPLOYEES’ PROVIDENT FUND AND
MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS ACT, 1952
Members drawing wages exceeding Rs.15000 per month are
excluded from the provision PF scheme
The wage ceiling for an employee to be eligible for the PF
Scheme has been increased from Rs.6500 to Rs.15000
Increase in 20% to already existing benefits in an event of death
of the employee.
6. INDUSTRIAL DISPUTE ACT, 1947
Industrial Disputes (Amendment) Act, 2010
Supervisors drawing wages under Rs.1600 per month are
coming with in the definition of workmen. Which is now
increased to Rs.10000 per month
7. PAYMENT OF GRATUITY ACT, 1972
The Payment of Gratuity [Amendment] Act, 2010
Maximum ceiling for payment has increased from
Rs.3,50,000 to Rs.10,00,000.
The 7th CPC (Central Pay Commission) increased
Gratuity ceiling limit from Rs.10,00,000 to
Rs.20,00,000
8. THE EMPLOYEE STATE INSURANCE ACT,
1948
The employees’ state insurance [Amendment] Act, 2010
Inspector for implementing the provisions of the act are now
called Social Security Officers
Limit for funeral expenses has increased from Rs.5000 to
Rs.10000
New section has been added to cover accidents occurring to
employees while commuting to residence from office or vice-
versa.
Definition of dependents has changed
9. THE FACTORIES ACT, 1948
The bill amends the definition of Factory, hazardous process,
manufacturing process and occupier
It proposes to empower the state government to allow women
to work in night hours provided with appropriate safety
measures and transportation.
It imposes pregnant women and disabled person to work in
certain work and processes.
Factory with more than 150 workers be provided shelters and
restrooms separately for men and women.
It imposes liability on manufacturers to ensure safety
10. MATERNITY BENEFIT ACT, 1961
The Maternity Benefit [Amendment] Act, 2016
The bill extends maternity leave from 12 weeks to 26 weeks
The bill requires every establishment with 50 or more employees
with crèche facilities with in prescribed distances.
An employer may permit women to work from home depending
on the nature of the work and also upon the mutual consent.
The women should provided with all the information regarding
the benefits available under the bill, at the time of her
appointment.
