Nervous system:
-algesia and -taxia

Neurological suffixes
 The nervous system
  deals with the
  coordination of the
  body. Sensory input
  flows to the brain where
  it is analyzed. A
  response is then
  created and sent out.

 -algesia
  pain, sensitivity

 -taxia
                             Innervations of body organs
  muscle coordination
Hyperalgesia
•Heightened sensitivity to pain
  • In cases of infection: body’s
     inflammatory response-
     cytokines-is exacerbated.

•Localized or widespread

•Connected to fibromyalgia
  • widespread achiness of soft
     tissue and muscles
•Damage to nerves can also
trigger increased feelings of pain

                                     Pain pathways
Ataxia

•Lacking coordination or without
coordination

•Degenerative neurological condition

•Movement and balance control
centers of nervous system have been
affected resulting in limb, speech,
and visual impairment.

•Can refer to either the symptoms of
incoordination or degenerative
condition of the central nervous
system.
Ataxia symptoms
•Adult onset is typical, but can be
in range of 20-60.
    • Balance and coordination
    • Limb coordination, slurred
      speech.
    • Impaired mobility, patient will
      compensate by bowing legs
    • Fine motor skills that require
      grasping ability become
      impaired
• Hereditary ataxia-genetic
disorder
  • Can be fatal if patient is bound
to bed and their. ability to
     swallow affects respiration
