It finds that trading costs, including spread costs and brokerage commissions, average 0.78% of fund assets per year and vary substantially across funds. Fund investment objectives are related to average trading costs but variation within objectives is greater than across objectives.

The document explores behavioral explanations for this, finding investors had diverse risk perceptions and many saw opportunities to gain skills and resources by investing sooner despite uncertainty. Lower perceived risks around policy, technology costs, and economic growth helped trigger waves of earlier investment at below-average rates.

3) Industry type and firm size are expected to moderate the relationships between profitability, leverage, and firm value. The study uses data from Taiwanese listed companies to test these hypotheses.
Oliver Hart and Bengt Holmström were awarded the 2016 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics for their foundational contributions to contract theory. Their research shed light on how contracts can help address conflicting interests and shape better institutions in society. Specifically, Holmström's work showed that performance pay emphasizing short-term goals can neglect long-term company health, while Hart pioneered the theory of incomplete contracts and how allocation of control rights impacts incentives and bargaining power. Together, their contract theory research provided tools to analyze real-world contracts and helped improve both private market and public policy design.

However, an MBA is now required for her current senior vice president position. The ethics officer must analyze the situation using Badaracco's Right vs Right framework and consider the legal implications of resume fraud to make a recommendation. Legally, resume fraud provides justification for termination as an at-will employee. However, King has a record of success and the company would not want to lose her. The ethics officer recommends allowing King to retain her position given her past performance but issuing a written warning, and revising hiring policies to prevent similar situations.
