This report summarizes findings from a study exploring the relationship between company ethics and employee engagement using data from the 2009 National Business Ethics Survey. The study found that positive perceptions of an organization's ethical culture are associated with higher levels of employee engagement. Employees who observed misconduct at work were less engaged than those who did not. Engaged employees were also more likely to report misconduct when they witnessed it. The findings suggest that efforts to strengthen ethical culture and reduce misconduct can help increase employee engagement.
