The IW:LEARN PCU team has over 20 years of experience providing training through a hybrid of face-to-face and electronic learning formats. They have trained over 370 people since 1998. However, their conclusions are that electronic learning is good for networking and supplements but not a replacement for face-to-face interactions. For meaningful learning, IW:LEARN must invest more in face-to-face interactions. As an alternative, they propose returning to a hybrid model with default use of electronic forums for ad hoc peer assistance and networking, while emphasizing periodic demand-driven face-to-face learning and information sharing.
